Leazes Cottage

We have been going to Leazes Cottage for many years because of its fabulous location nestled into Simonside, and are still finding new walks to do!

The cottage is so comfortable and Rothbury is close by for provisions. We will be back next year☺️

Absolutely beautiful spot with incredible views and wildlife.

The cottage was great, well equipped with 2 double beds and a sofa bed. Ourselves and our 3 kids spent most of the time in the conservatory surrounded by the most wonderful views, and at night surrounded by more stars than we've seen in a long time! We also enjoyed the bonus of a few cosier evenings around the fire! Perfect location for access to the coast, Kielder and Hadrian's wall, with the bonus of being really close, even walking distance to Simonside, the river, Rothbury and Cragside. Perfect for longer trips out and days when you want to do something but not drive too far! Thank you for a great holiday, we hope to be back!

We really enjoyed our third stay in this lovely cottage in such a great area.

Loads of places to visit and Rothbury itself is a very pleasant, friendly place. Great for dog walks and generally relaxing holidays. Highly recommended. We look forward to staying here again soon.

This cottage sits on the hillside of the Coquet Valley, and the sunroom offers blissful views no matter the weather.

Great walking nearby and easy shopping down in Rothbury, a short drive or few miles to walk alongside the river. Owner and housekeeper both followed up to check all was well. Good Wi-Fi and kitchen equipped to enable home cooking. An absolutely lovely place to R&R for a week, would come again.

We love staying at Leazes cottage and have been visiting for more than 10 years.

The cottage is comfortable and well situated with superb views of the surrounding countryside and lots of lovely walks without taking the car. We particularly love the sun room where we can watch the birds and other wildlife. Nearby Rothbury has everything you need and all the locals are very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely stay and the cottage is in an idyllic position with 360 degree scenic views.

The dog loved the very secure garden, it was home from home for him and us. The cottage is comfortable and as described and very pet friendly and we fully intend to rebook as soon as we can find a suitable opportunity, most of our time spent in the conservatory, as we are now to old to take advantage of the lovery walks available on the doorstep, our loss !

Cottage was as described and in an excellent location, very peaceful.

Fairly well equipped

We have stayed in the property over many years.

It is the perfect spot for exploring the fantastic surrounding countryside with so many varied and interesting walks. Rothbury is nearby and a great place to visit for most of the things you need on your stay. The cottage has terrific unspoilt views and is traditional in its presentation which means you can relax and not be paranoid about the furniture, especially if you have dogs. It's also a great place to step out and see the Milky Way and Stars as the air is clear and there are no disturbing street lights.

It was so nice to return once again for two weeks in this lovely, spacious, comfortable old stone cottage, set in a beautiful scenic location, with plenty of walks and places to explore around the area.

On several days we stayed in due to heavy rainfall, but even then, just sitting in the conservatory looking at the views across the valley, watching the birds, wildlife and sheep kept us entertained. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Let me start by saying this cottage is in a lovely location and with a bit of love could be spectacular.

However, on arrival we had to pick up 4 dog poos from the gardens, as dog owners we understand that is the guest's responsibility, but it should have been double-checked by the caretaker, as we shouldn't have to clean-up after a previous guest. Cottage needed alot of TLC with worn furniture and peeling paint, but we could've overlooked it if the cottage had been cleaner, there was dust, cobwebs, dead spiders and just an overall feeling of grime, dirty cutlery and plates. The main bedroom hadn't been made up, so we slept in the 2nd bedroom which was not really big enough for a double bed. The cupboards and drawers also seemed dirty and smelly, so we just lived out of our suitcase. There wasn't any hand towels or washing up liquid, things you would expect as standard. Check-in time was earlier then most cottages we've been to and because of that I feel like the cleaning and checking process may be rushed, we feel like those extra couple of hours could be used for a more thorough clean and check. I know this review makes me sound like one of those people, but I have never had to leave a review like this before.

The mattress on both beds has seen better days.

We would have liked a blind in the conservatory as the windows don’t open, eating the evening meal was not comfortable in the hot sun. The garden has become very untidy. Only two towels for four people for two weeks is less than generous!

The great assets of this cottage are its remote location (with good WiFi :-) and especially the spacious veranda.

A small welcome package would have been nice...

Rural setting is ideal for a quiet and peaceful holiday. We love the sun room with spectacular views of the countryside. Ideal for walkers like us and lots of wildlife too.

A nice little cottage in a great location.

Views up and down the valley from the conservatory. Would have been great for stargazing on a clear night, which we unfortunately didn't get. It was a little cool at night but this was due to the coldest June in living memory. Everything we needed was there, it was clean and welcoming. The local chippy in Rothbury is great. Internet is good and stable, even had a decent phone signal (even 5G on the 3 network)

on previous stay we commented about lack of grab rail over bath, pleased to see on this visit that the owner had taken note about our comment nice to see one fitted.

This was like a little piece of rural heaven - just 45 minutes from home, but a world away.

Even the rainy days were beautiful with the all round frieze of natural colour, and the additional visits from the pheasant, green finches and the lambs bleating outside my bedroom window

Beautiful cottage, completely on its own in a wonderful, peaceful and private spot.

The 360 degree views from the fully enclosed garden are amazing. A lovely place in a lovely part of the world. Rothbury is 5 minutes away by car and under an hour via a nice (sometimes muddy) walk. The cottage is cozy and welcoming with the standout feature being the large, comfortable conservatory with sweeping views of the Cheviots, the valley and Rothbury. Great place!

No tea towels that we could find. We had to buy one from the village. Otherwise all ship shape. A calm and restful holiday. Thank you.

Lovely cottage in fabulous quiet setting.

We particularly like the conservatory which is our favourite room, and has lovely views. We are regular visitors and will return again soon.

only down side when you get to certain age needs a grab rail by the bath otherwise great we have booked again to come back.

We've been going to this particular cottage for over twenty years.

The location is superb.

A short walk away from Rothbury and plenty of walks from the door. The views are superb and we were nestled in farmland and could watch the wild birds, the cows and sheep grazing nearby. It was a real joy to watch the weather roll in and out.

Cottage is very comfortable and cosy and in such a beautiful quiet location.

There is almost everything you need in the cottage to enjoy your stay.

Leazes cottage is ideally located if peace and tranquillity is your dream.
