“We had a great stay at Castle Keep for 4 nights in October.”

Cottage was warm and cosy with well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. Bedding was of high quality with a good mattress. Towels were a little small and thin. We could have done with a towel rack in the bathroom for drying towels. Hot water in shower didn’t really get hot enough - we read previously it had been adjusted down. Possibly this may have caused the temperature to be too low. Local butchers and pub (Masons Arms) are worth a visit. Overall, a wonderful short stay.

Hi thanks very much for your review. Sorry about the towels not being thick enough they are very new. The property is closed now for a month to install a new shower room which will now have a heated towel rail. The shower is electric and having used it myself has always been hot enough you just have to adjust it to your liking. We adjusted the hot water coming from the boiler which controls the heating and hot water for the sinks so that won’t affect the shower. Thanks again for your visit. Property Owner

The property

Settled in the conservation area of the historic village of Norham, in Northumberland, rests this stone-built terraced cottage, Castle Keep.

Brimming with character dating back to the 1850's and enjoying an idyllic position close to the border of Scotland, Castle Keep promises a wonderful getaway for families, friends and couples alike.

Stepping inside your new home-from-home, you will be welcomed by a delightful hallway, where you can remove any shoes and coats and store your belongings away from the main living areas.

Moving through the property, enter into the beautifully-presented sitting room, where a warming woodburning stove provides a cosy ambience from morning, noon to night.

A characterful hatch window overlooks the kitchen area, ideal for socialising with your loved ones as you prepare a range of hearty, homecooked meals that can be enjoyed at the nearby dining table.

In the summer months, why not make mealtimes an alfresco affair and venture outside to your private garden?

Completing the ground floor is a handy cloakroom, whilst a stylish family bathroom can be found upstairs; pour in the bubbles and enjoy a moment of peace with a blissful soak in the tub.

When sleep calls, choose between a king-size and a single bedroom, each offering handy storage to unpack your belongings and make yourself at home.

The delights of Norham are set a short walk away from your holiday home; take a break from doing the cooking and treat your loved ones to an indulgent meal at one of the local pubs, or stock up on fresh, locally-sourced produce to enjoy from the comfort of your holiday home from the local butchers and bakery.

The border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is within easy reach, settled at the northern tip of Northumberland's spectacular Heritage Coast, brimming with an abundance of facinating history to be discovered at the ruins of Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle and the Berwick Town Walls.

Avid golfers will delight with a visit to Magdalene Fields Golf Club, whilst those looking for a change of pace can catch the train to the vibrant capital cities of Edinburgh or Newcastle upon Tyne.

A holiday to remember awaits at Castle Keep.
