14 The Maltings

Our 4th stay in Rothbury, 1st time at The Maltings and we have already booked again for next year.

Lovely property, spacious, very clean and great facilities. A very comfortable and relaxing stay. Also a great welcome pack and good contact with the hosts without being intrusive.

The property was very comfortable and homely.

It was spotlessly clean and the owners were very helpful. The location is fantastic just two minutes walk to the high street. Rothbury is lovely and a great base to visit other areas such as Alnwick, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. We had a great holiday and would love to return in the future.

We have stopped at this property since 2020 we missed 2025 the property is very homely clean the owner is very nice parking is OK and is very accessible to the shops and facilities in Rothbury

We had a wonderful week at The Maltings.

The cottage was exactly as described and much more. We loved the homeliness of the cottage and all the extra comforts that had been provided. It is in the centre of Rothbury within easy reach of all the restaurants and pubs and perfect for walking and exploring the beautiful countryside. Great communication with the owners and they were so helpful. We will definitely be returning to this delightful cottage.

Great house, ideally located in a quiet location in the heart of Rothbury.

Comfortably furnished and well equipped. The owner communicated well and the welcome pack was generous. Having a second (unallocated) parking space available was excellent for the 5 of us.

Really lovely house,very clean and well kept, in a quiet cul-de-sac.

Four of us arrived after a four and a half hour motorcycle ride so the welcome pack was brilliant everything you needed including Coffee bags,tea, biscuits half a dozen eggs cheese and beers in the fridge what more could you want after a long journey. The patio area was ideal and a lovely sun trap in the evenings. Gordon and Theresa, from me and the lads thank you very much for letting us stay. I would definately think about coming back with my wife and dogs as Rothbury is a lovely village and ideal for exploring the Northumberland area. Thanks again Dave.

Absolutely perfect in every way.

House had everything you could possibly require and more for an excellent stay,immaculate throughout. Superb Welcome Goodies probably the best we have ever had! Also toiletries set for each guest an unexpected surpise. Reassuring contact with the owner from start to finish.House in ideal position for Rothbury high street,literally 2 mins walk to a selection of shops and pubs,also 2 mins to beautiful riverside walk yet so quiet and peaceful. We didn't want to leave !

The accommodation was excellent.

The welcome goodies were the most generous we've had anywhere, and it was nice that the owner checked personally to se if everything was OK (which it was !). Very convenient location, no noise except from the swifts swooping by. Rothbury is an excellent location for visiting lots of great places in Northumbria, whether coastal or inland

We couldn’t have been more pleased.

This was our second visit and as before the house was clean, comfortable and in a beautifully quiet position. The owners are friendly and welcoming. We’re looking forward to returning in September.

Lovely cottage with everything you need for a week's stay.

You've thought of everything. Nice garden to sit and relax. Liked that the kitchen has a dining area too with a good size table for playing board games. Such a quiet area yet so close to local amenities for shopping and eating, plus riverside walks.

In over 50 years of renting self catering properties I would 14 the Maltings as one of the best we have stayed at.

The owners have left no stone unturned in decorating and equipping this property. The grounds are kept immaculate with a central location to all amenities in the village of Rothbury. We shall return at some point.

Everything you could possibly need is there to make your holiday perfect. An extremely generous welcome pack greeted us on arrival. The owner is very friendly and came round to check all was well when we arrived. The house is in an ideal location for the local pubs and shops and for travelling around Northumberland. We hope to visit again.

Everything you need, spotlessly clean, home from home. Lovely welcome pack, milk and eggs in the fridge plus a bottle of wine. 2 minute walk to the high street. Parking on driveway. We hope to return again. So much to see in this beautiful part of Northumberland.

We were very pleased with 14 The Maltings.

It was very comfortable. It’s facilities had been developed to a high standard and were well maintained. The outdoor seating area was excellent. We appreciated the basket of supplies that was left for us. We were pleased to meet the owner just after our arrival. The property has two televisions. We could not get either to work. In fact the one in the lounge wouldn’t even switch on.

The house was immaculate, comfortable and so very quiet! Hard to believe it is so close to the centre of Rothbury. The owners are very welcoming. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Excellent location.

Rothbury has all the facilities you need and there is a good range of shops and places to eat. The property was excellent and had everything we required. The enclosed rear garden was very pleasant to sit in and was great for the dog.

Enjoyed touring the area. Just what we wanted. Everything worked fine. Just missed a dishwasher.

We had a fab time - everything was perfect.

Theresa had gone the extra mile to ensure that we enjoyed our stay- a lovely hamper; milk, eggs & wine in the fridge & goodies left for us to enjoy. We have stayed in many holiday homes (with Sykes & others) & this was definitely the best by far.

Had a lovely comfortable and relaxing holiday with our dog.

A beautiful home.

So nice of the owner to greet us personally. Amazing welcome hamper and toiletries. The house was beautifully appointed - everything you could possibly need. Lovely comfy beds. Ideal location - 2 mins to shops and pubs ( we recommend the Turks Head); few mins walk to the river for a pleasant walk. Rothbury itself is a good centre for exploring the North East and Scottish Borders. Would definitely highly recommend No. 14

The property is well equipped and in a good location.

A real home from home. The owner was very friendly and a thoughtful welcome pack provided. Our only comments would be that the front and side bedrooms require blackout blinds as the street lights outside shine all night and kept my son awake. We personally found all the bed mattresses very uncomfortable so didn’t have a good night sleep all week. We ended up using all the beds. We ate in most night so a dishwasher would be good, there is space in the kitchen and for a family it’s a positive to provide one now days. My final comment which the owner cannot do anything about and that would stop us staying in Rothbury again generally is the Church clock climes on the hour all night and this also contributed to our lack of sleep. The property is very close to the church. With the window open it is even louder so had to close the windows at night. Thank you.

Great place lovely little cottage.

We had a lovely stay, excellent location for us, all amenities, walks etc.

on the doorstep. The property was very well presented and a nice welcome pack. We ate in all the time so a dishwasher would have been handy but obviously difficult to fit in. (Not a deal breaker).

We had a wonderful holiday based in our fabulous accommodation.

It was equipped with everything we needed and beautifully decorated and furnished. The garden is completely secure so extremely safe for any size of dog. It is close to a lovely river walk and the shops, pubs and restaurants are all a sort walk away. The central location makes it ideal for exploring Northumberland and the Scottish borders. We met the lovely owners, who gave us a welcome gift of food, wine and toiletries. It was perfect.

The property was perfect, cozy, spacious, excellent location, clean, tidy and plenty of storage.

The cottage was immaculate and clean. The personal touches like the little shower sets were brilliant. The welcome pack is a really nice addition. Lovely enclosed garden for the dog. Beautiful walks on your doorstep. I would recommend the Newcastle hotel for the Sunday carvery. Brilliant.

The property was an ideal location to visit the Northumberland coast , it had everything we required and it was a real home from home , it was very clean and there was a nice thoughtful hamper on arrival , we met the owners Gordon and Theresa on arrival and departure and they were both very welcoming and we would no hesitation in stopping here again or recommending others to come as well.

Excellent welcome pack. In the centre of Rothbury but with private parking by the front door. 4/5 minute walk and you are either by the river or on the main street. There are lot's of small shops covering most of what you might need. We were greeted by the property owner when we arrived and she was both welcoming and helpful. Secure dog friendly outside space accessed from the kitchen or living room.

Outstandingly clean, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the quiet, private location, yet just off the Hugh Street through Rothbury, with all its lovely shops, catering for your every need. Rothbury itself is absolutely charming with its riverside walks and just a stone’s throw from the National Trust property, Cragside. We received a personal welcome from the owner just after our arrival and a very welcome bottle of wine in the fridge! Highly recommended, and we would love to return.

Very well equipped house, great for the children as well as adults. We loved Cragside and the Farne Islands and the lovely coastline.

We had a fabulous week at 14 The Maltings in Rothbury.

The house was superb and contained everything you could possibly need. The location was perfect - tucked away in a little area just off the high street, and a few minutes walk to the river. Some great walks from the door - both along the river or straight up to the moors. Rothbury is a lovely friendly place with some great independent shops. The butchers is superb with amazing sausages and pies.

We had a very nice stay in this house, it felt like home.

Very clean and welcoming, had everything (and more) in the kitchen cupboards. Perfectly situated within the village. A two minute walk to the main road for all the shops, pubs and cafe's. Or go the oposite direction for 2 minutes and you're welcomed by a beautiful river walk and play area for the kids. Jump in the car, and you're within driving distance of lots of majestic countryside and beaches.

there os only one thing I would have liked to see and that was a BBQ otherwise the house was superb

The owner came to see if everything was ok, which was a nice touch. This was by far the best equipped place we have rented and was immaculate. Rothbury is a delightful town full of friendly people, loads of interesting places to visit.

Great accommodation in the center of Rothbury We went to the Coquet Vale hotel for food.

The Narrow Nick for beer and Rothbury Bakery for sandwiches and pies Plenty to see in the surrounding area eg. Simonside hills, Coquet Valley, Blaerberry Hills

Only 'Met Expectations' as we have stayed there before so knew what we were getting!

14, The Maltings was the only property we have ever had where there were no problems or issues of any sort; everything worked in the house and the property was extremely well maintained and equipped. The house was excellent in all respects - very comfy with lots of homely touches. We had a fantastic holiday.

The Maltings is a lovely, comfortable holiday home containing everything (and more) that you could need.

Rothbury itself is a great place to shop and eat out with mainly independent shops and within easy reach of any number of attractions.

We had a fantastic week, the house was perfect and had everything we needed.

The location was excellent, Rothbury is a lovely friendly town and the house is a minute’s walk to the river. It is convenient for visiting all the main sites in the area. Thank you for a wonderful week!

Rothford is a lovely place to stay.

With it's river and forest walks , it makes it a great place for walking. We were extremely pleased with the house , which had everything in it you could possibly want,and more. A great house.

The cottage was warm and very well equipped,.

It was in an ideal location with good local amenities. It was vey comfortable and the neighbours were friendly and helpful. We suggest that you warn visitors that the nearest petrol is in Alnwick, followed by Morpeth. These are both about 11 miles from the cottage so one is advised not to arrive with an empty tank. The cottage was nearly perfect, our only suggestions are: A steel to sharpen the knives A tea cozy and A grab rail in the shower for elderly and less agile visitors. A lovely spot for a holiday.

Hassle free arrival and minimal intervention.

The house was spotless and we were met by a few gifts which was a nice surprise, all necessary instruction was there and a brief visit by the owner shortly after arrival to check everything was ok. The only thing which could have been improved on was the shower which did the job but was a little temperamental but this is a minor niggle in an otherwise excellent home.

This cottage was excellent, it was clear that the owner had put a lot of thought into the facilties required and it made for an brilliant stay.

It was surprising to find the bed fitted with WINTER bedding in a heatwave!

Otherwise a nice property. Curtains to shut out the light at 5am in the bedroom are a must.

The Maltings was a lovely house in a great location.

It is close to the main street but in peaceful surroundings with the river and playpark just around the corner. The owners were very attentive and left a great welcome pack which was much appreciated. We would recommend this property without hesitation.

Very good holiday accommodation, the house very well equipped, everything seemed new.

The location was excellent, even though near the main street it was very quiet. The Co-op was just across the main street. We found both pubs to be good particularly The Queens Head. Everyone was friendly and obliging no matter where we went. "Cragside" is a "must" what an amaxing man Thomas Armstrong was. Bamburgh Castle, Keilder Water and the Roman fort at Housestead all worth visiting. We avoided the A1 and had found the roads quiet and very scenic.

No, this is a good holiday cottage possibly due to the owners living there during the winter so it is for their comfort as well.

I always say any holiday cottage owner should stay in their cottage for a week before they let it!!!! So this one was very good, lovely comfy bed too.

Rothbury is a good base for exploring Northumberland with Hexham ,Alnwick and other family friendly attractions within easy reach .
