    “Our stay at The Coquet Nest was great.”

    Very clean and modern. Odd that there is a footstool for the loo though - it has been placed higher up the wall than normal, so be aware if your mobility is not so good. We found the very well located to go explore Northumberland.The only other thing to watch out for is the parking. You can either park up the street where it gets narrow or outside where it's very close the junction. Also, locals tend to park on teh corner of the junction (not safe) in order to use the river access. River access ...

The capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury, lies on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet, and is dominated by the heather clad Simonside Hills. It is an attractive, small market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent local walking. Stone houses, typical of the region, line the town’s steep main streets and there is a Post Office, a good range of shops, and a variety of eateries to take advantage of. With a golf course, public tennis courts and cycle hire close by and a variety of great houses and gardens to explore, including the National Trust site of Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer. Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder Reservoir and Forest, and the sandy beaches and dunes of the Northumberland Coast AONB are also within easy driving distance.
