An amazing place, quiet and relaxing, just what we needed.

Lots of information and leaflets left inside the property of places to visit and where to go. A welcome pack of food and milk left in the fridge for us was very thoughtful. Lovely owner that answered the mobile number given to confirm regarding how many pets we were bringing, she was very helpful and told me to ring anytime if I needed to. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a beautiful amazing place to stay.

Honestly one of the best places we have stayed , so welcoming and clean , home made cake and dog biscuits on arrival , my two dogs loved the spacious garden all enclosed , so peaceful and quite , family so friendly and we have boiled to go back in October , cannot say enough good things about this cottage

The cottage is just lovely well presented with a safe garden for our two dogs total peace and tranquility the area to explore is at times a short distance away but that does not detract from visiting thank you to the owners for the breakfast pack on arrival we will place it on our return list

Perfect dog friendly stay in Northumberland.

It was our first visit to the area so had a little anxiety about how secure the garden would be and the area for our border collie, we didn’t need to worry it was perfect and there were several extras for him too (sofa cover / towels / bowl / treats) it was also comfortable and spacious for the humans. We wanted to explore as much as we could as it was all new and found the location great for this, highly recommend a walk up Simonside hills, visiting Holy island, Alnwick, Kielder forest and Hareshaw Linn waterfall. The kitchen is well equipped, shower good with no hot water issues and furniture all comfortable. We had a week of sunshine and really enjoyed sitting in the gardens with a drink and enjoying the peace. Would highly recommend

The Byre is a wonderful getaway, particularly for anyone who wants peace and quiet, uninterrupted sky views and it is also very welcoming for dogs!

Our two pups had a ball and loved being able to explore all of the Northumberland coastline with us in tow. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen is very well appointed and we were very touched by the welcome amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

We could not have asked for anything additional. We had absolutely everything we needed and the accommodation was thoughtful with a really Well equipped kitchen. Particularly liked the fact that we had freezer space as this is hard to come by on a holiday. We appreciated the breakfast pack that was left for us on our arrival and loved the radio on when we arrived. It made it feel very homely! The dog loved the garden and the walk through the paddocks too. Heating was perfect, plenty of hot water and lovely surroundings with a milk vending machine down the road that also sells local meat, ice cream, milkshakes, etc We hope to return as we had such a lovely time!

Excellent week, everything that you could want in cottage, great walks just outside and peace and quiet, hosts really friendly and there if you need anything, otherwise you will see them out and about.

Fabulous for our dogs too with plentiful walks and a secure garden. Hosts were great, facilities first class, and a welcome home made cake on arrival. Would recommend without hesitation.

We stayed at The Byre for Christmas and our stay was perfect.

The cottage was decorated for Christmas which was lovely. The cottage was clean and comfortable and everything we needed. The garden was secure which is a must for us when taking our dogs away and the stabling facilities for the horses were directly opposite which was fab. The location is rural which is just what we were looking for but your only a 20 minute drive from a supermarket if you need any essentials. We will definitely be back again and will 100 percent recommend The Byre to friends and family. Thank you for a perfect stay.

It was perfect for us as we have two rescue dogs and they are scared of fireworks so we love the silence if that makes sense.

They settled immediately once we had put their rugs in place and that was important to us. The Byre was perfect for us apart from the bed having a footboard which meant we couldn't sleep as we normally would. We could come and go as we pleased and there are areas to walk the dogs on site and a nice big garden where they could run around without any issues. Everything was on the ground floor which was a bonus. We could come and go as we please which we like and took advantage of the Dairy products available at the Farm Shop. The biggest disappointment for us is discovering that the property is already booked for next year and so is the neighbouring one which means we will have to look elsewhere for our sanctuary.

Our fourth time coming back so that probably explains all you would need to know!

Over a mile down a farm track surrounded by beautiful countryside, it feels like a home from home for us. Dog-friendly with a lovely enclosed garden and easy walking right from the doorstep. The family space feels really cosy with an open fire and the kitchen is really well-equipped. We have family close by so will keep on coming! Thanks for always giving such a warm welcome.

Lovely little cottage, located in a very scenic, quiet area.

It was well equipped and very warm and cosy.

A very lovely property in beautiful surroundings, Peaceful and private, despite next door being another holiday let and the owners, next door to that.

Just about everything you need is supplied and of good quality. The beds are comfortable and have a wide variety of covers. The heating is good and keeps what is a large space, nice and warm. Lots of parking on good tarmac, a very large, lawned, dog friendly garden. The owners are always available, but leave you to your holiday. It is quite a long drive to the nearest facilities, in fact its quite a long drive to the road! So if you want to go shopping every day this isn't the place. The area is rich in good quality local shops, we didn't use a supermarket all the time we were there. The location is very central, we wanted to visit the Farne Islands, Keilder and Hadrians wall, amongst other things, which are all in opposite directions, the property is virtually equidistant from these major attractions. Would we return to The Byre? Absolutely. We couldn't fault the property, either for short breaks or longer holidays and we will be returning. The welcome pack is also first class, a full breakfast, ready to cook. Thank you so much for a very lovely stay. One last thing, lunch or breakfast at the Running Fox at Kirkharle is highly recommended.

Being in a quiet rural position the house has everything you need for a get away from it all break.

It is very well equipped and maintained and we loved the enclosed garden knowing that the dog was safe. The welcome gift from the owner was well received. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and book it again.

The Byre is very comfortable and the garden is beautiful. Our little dog really enjoyed sniffing around and playing in the garden. He can be reactive to other dogs so the quiet of the cottage was perfect for him (and we really appreciated the owners making sure their dogs were kept away from him). Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a very comfortable stay in The Byre last week.

The owners have thoughtfully provided everything needed for a real home from home experience. There was plenty of parking to accommodate our campervan and the location was beautiful. We enjoyed some lovely walks out with Badger, our energetic border collie. He very much enjoyed the space and freedom of the garden, and asked us to say an extra thank you for the delicious doggy treats provided. We appreciated extra freezer space in the utility area as he eats food which needs to be frozen. The location of The Byre is quite remote, peaceful and relaxing, we enjoyed the bird song and the beautiful skies at night due to absolutely no light pollution. Morpeth was an easy twenty minutes or so drive away, and The Dyke Neuk pub just ten minutes down the road. Steak night there was particularly good and amazing value. If you prefer a more urban setting think again, but if you're craving a little bit of heaven on Earth, this is it!

Lovely place to stay, clean and tidy, garden very safe for the dog.

Easy access to many maid attractions. Very peaceful just what we were wanting. Lovely place to eat at Rothbury. We had a very pleasant holiday.

It was a nice suprise to find Byre more spacious than expected.

The settiing is peaceful, we loved the wildlife especially the singing blackbird. Have to mention George the host who was very kind. Will be very easy to return for a 2nd visit.

I was lucky enough to have the warm weather all week, so got to enjoy lunches in the garden and gorgeous walks straight from the house morning & evening. I felt right at home with all the comforts in the cottage - Nespresso coffee machine and treats in the fridge - thank you so much for the pink fizz & gorgeous cake! I actually live just outside of Newcastle and have my horse based nearby, so had an R&R week working half days whilst staying. I enjoyed outings with my horse & friends through the week and I was able to comfortably work with the super fast wifi when needed. It was a real treat and felt like I was on a proper holiday all week! If you're visiting with a dog, every detail has been thought of and my dog, Honey settled straight away. I will 100000% be visiting again! Thank you for such a wonderful & memorable stay when I needed it most.

Another fabulous stay at The Byre!

We spent the May/June half-term here and enjoyed it so much, came back for the October half-term. We’re a family of four with a small dog. The house has a great layout for us, entering into a utility-type area great for towelling down a dog and with a sink, American fridge freezer and a washer/dryer. Also space to hang coats and a shoe rack to tidy those millions of family shoes away from the door! Open-plan, cosy living space with the kitchen, dining and seating area combined and a lovely log burner. The cottage is well equipped - even found a measuring jug, a clothes airer and the all-important Nespresso coffee machine for the caffeine-lovers out there! Location is perfect for what we want, away from it all down a long farm track and with beautiful unspoilt views. The fenced garden was great for the dog, as well as walks off-lead from the door. Our kids enjoyed a few milkshakes from the farm shop. Thanks so much for the welcome pack of breakfast food (our first stay was a lovely home-baked cake!). We enjoyed our stay so much, that we’ve booked again for the adjoining property!

Wonderful property, set in a fabulous farm location, which was peaceful and tranquil with beautiful views.

Equiped with every home comfort you could think of, the property was spotless and immaculately presented and yet felt cosy and homely. We were welcomed with bread, eggs, sausages, bacon and more. We loved driving down the lane past the cows every day and stopping for fresh milk. We can't wait to come back, thankyou

We certainly enjoyed our holiday at The Byre, it was very comfortable with all we needed.

Thank you for the welcome pack which we thought was exceedingly good and very tasty. The property is in an ideal location for sightseeing in Northumberland, it was also very quiet and the night sky was amazing to see. Would love to revisit in a couple of years. What a wonderful place to stay!

Lovely clean and tidy. The owner left us a breakfast package that went down a treat. There was everything there that we needed including some dog things. It was peaceful and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was so comfortable and plenty of facilities in it.

The garden is very secure and a good size for my dog to run about in. The welcome pack was also very much appreciated

A beautiful cottage set in the middle of fields.

Owner very friendly and thoughtful - welcome package was really good with fresh eggs butter and meat from the farm. Very nice touch. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you need for a break. We stayed for a week and it was very easy living. The beds were very comfortable and the surroundings ensure for a peaceful break.

Lovely property but could be better as no privacy from fence that is virtually falling down.

...no washing line and no welcome pack ie treats etc for your dog just towels and poo bags even though you pay extra to bring a pet as this is not budget cottage so you expect a bit more for what you pay which have experienced at other cottages but overall good but not outstanding or perfect as reviews suggested

We had a super week staying at The Byre with our two dogs, so peaceful and watching the horses in the fields was a bonus.

A very comfortable, clean and very well equipped cottage even towels etc for the dogs were provided . On arrival there were fresh eggs, bacon, rolls and butter. Not too far away is a good pub called the Dyke Neuk Inn which serves very good home made dishes. Beautiful area with friendly people.

Lovely cottage everything you needed, peaceful location our dog loved the garden, perhaps the hedge could have been abit lower so you could see the view when sitting outside.

Such a gorgeous property, we loved our stay.

Far enough out of the way for a peaceful holiday, yet close to loads of National Trust/English Heritage sites and only 30 mins to the beach. Fantastic for dogs as the garden is secure and loads of space for them to run around. Loved the eggs, bacon and milk as a welcome from the owners.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful. It's perfectly placed to visit all over Northumberland. I definitely would like to go there again. A really happy holiday for us and our dogs.

Beautiful location and appointment. Beds, chairs, so comfortable. Thoughtfully chosen and generous 'welcome pack'. One of the very best furnished cottages we've even been to ... and we've done scores of them. 10/10!!

A very warm and cozy cottage, and being able to have a fire in the evenings was a treat.

Loved the friendly horses in the field next door who would come trotting over for a fuss! Lots of interesting places to see a short drive away.

what a wonderful place to spend a holiday,started with the breakfast pack in the fridge for our stay,very friendly owners always on hand if there was a problem which there was not,the location was secluded which was what we wanted and our four legged friends were extremely well catered for,and of course a daily visit from betty made us smile,cannot praise enough

My daughter and I had a wonderful week exploring Northumberland with Tia our cockapoo.

The beds and sofas were so comfortable and the house is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the fridge to see bacon, sausages, eggs, butter, milk and fresh eggs. How nice they were too and from a local farm. What a lovely touch! The garden was so pretty at night when the sun was going down and a sun trap. We adored the beautiful horses in their paddocks, they were very friendly and came to the fence to say hi each evening on our walk. The house is in a beautiful setting surrounded by fields and horses in their paddocks, it was so peaceful and just what we were looking for. We met the owners dogs a couple of times, one was a right little character who thought she was a guard dog which was so funny because she was weeny but a sweet little thing! Thank you for a really enjoyable week at The Byre.

What a lovely place.

Considering we were last minute in booking you wouldn’t have known it when we walked in to The Byre. The place was immaculate! Comfortable accommodation which is both homely and practical. The coffee machine and milk frother were such a lovely touch - when on holiday you actually have time for a ‘proper’ coffee! The Byre is a great base to explore the coast, the historical houses and castles, Kielder Forest and of course The Wall. We were out and about every day and loved coming back to our home from home. Popular with the children and dog too! The owner was helpful and friendly. Fantastic stay.

Could benefit from a thicker rug in the living area as hard floors and to swap the two rooms as the twin room is beautiful. It should be the master.

What a wonderful property and setting.

A lovely breakfast pack waiting on arrival and the most gorgeous cake too! We would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing break. The open plan lounge, dinning and kitchen facilities were great and the large wrap around (and fully enclosed) garden was just what our little dog needed. Lots to do nearby and a couple of great pubs/restaurants just 20 minutes away. Thank you for a brilliant stay.

The Byre is a lovely, quiet location from where to base your holiday.

We found it clean, homely and welcoming with a lovely breakfast hamper to greet us. The large fridge in the utility was very useful as an overflow for larger items, The double bed has fabulous bedding, it’s so soft and comfortable - like sleeping in a giant marshmallow! The garden was perfect for us and our two dogs who very much enjoyed the space. Cresswell beach was our favourite and only 30 minutes away with The Drift Cafe which serves lovely food. We would definitely recommend The Byre to anyone who asked us about our stay, and hope we can come back another time. Thank you Yorkie xx

Wonderful time at the Byre.

Lovely interior, all rooms very impressive and of high quality. Great garden which is secure for dogs. Beautiful surroundings with fantastic walks, so relaxing to be able to let the dogs wander off without their leads, they loved it! Great to chat with the horses too! Owners extremely helpful, and a lovely breakfast pack and croissants set up for us. Would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing holiday, a real escape. Supermarkets a distance away but just makes you more organised!
