“Ridge Cottage is a gem!”

The Cottage itself is comfortable, cosy, well furnished and has a lot of space. The terrace offers great views to the countryside and one can enjoy quitness. The welcome of our host was overwhelming; with flowers,gift basket, milk, cheese and bread. After a long journey we just could sit down with a cup of tea and relax. The only downside was that the single bed mattresses were too hard for us, but that is a personal preference as we prefer a softer mattresses and in no way a bad reflective on this property and would definitely book again

A good place to be based for Northumbria with visits and places to see in all directions with excellent road connections. Accommodation is first rate, a good welcome basket is a bonus and helps to settle in to cottage on the first night. This was our second visit to Ridge View and wouldn't hesitate to book again if in the area again.

“We enjoyed our stay at Ridge cottage.”

The location is a little remote but the owners live next door and it is such a lovely place to be to enjoy peace and quiet along with the beautiful views of the countryside. A lot of thought has really been given to the people who spend their holiday there. We happened to arrive in the dark but the lights and fire were kindly put on for us. We were overwhelmed with the welcome basket, so much in it! And bread, milk and cheese in the fridge. There were even flowers on the kitchen table. The facilities and layout are great. The photos do not do this cottage justice. We were able to enjoy the sights of Northumberland quite easily from this location and to travel by train to Edinburgh and Newcastle from the train station located in the nearest town, Morpeth. We will look back on this holiday with fondness. The week just went too quickly A big thankyou to the owners for helping us to enjoy it!

The spacious living area, complete with a cozy fireplace, was ideal for unwinding after a day of exploring the stunning surroundings. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy for us to whip up delicious meals. The location couldn't be better! Ridge Cottage is conveniently situated on a quiet farm lane and near various walking trails, picturesque villages, and local towns and attractions. We visited Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and Hadrian’s Wall all within an easy drive. The hosts were incredibly attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their thoughtful touches and the most amazing welcome basket I’ve ever experienced filled with goodies for us and our dogs made us feel right at home. In summary, Ridge Cottage is a hidden gem that we highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. We didn’t want to leave!

We have stayed in lots of Sykes holiday cottages and this has to be the best equipped we have had. Lindsey and Vivienne were lovely hosts and made us very welcome and the hamper was a lovely surprise. If we return to Northumberland we would definitely book Ridge cottage again.

Very well equipped kitchen with a good selection of pots/pans utensils etc. for self catering. Cosy underfloor heating to the point we needed to turn it down as it was too warm inside even though weather outside was cold & wet. All of in all a place we’d like to stay again when we next visit the North East.

“Ridge Cottage has been 100% the best stay in a holiday cottage ever.”

We were greeted with a welcome basket, card and flowers which was a very lovely touch. The cottage was a bit like a tardis - larger than imagined. It's in a tranquil and relaxing setting surrounded with beautiful views away from the hustle and bustle of town life. It also offers a perfect view for star gazing at the night sky. The front garden provides a great enclosure for my dog to roam freely without worrying he'd escape. The back garden also enclosed but as my dog is a medium to large dog I think he'd probably be able to jump the fence if he was given the opportunity. There are no shops within walking distance - which suited us just fine. Although there is a little farm shop to walk to selling lovely fresh milkshakes, milk and some meat products. There are some great walks from the cottage - one to Rothley Castle - next time I'd bring a local map for exploring the walks more. We travelled a little further a field to Simonside Ridge and Druridge Bay & Country Park - all were amazing!! The hosts are very friendly and helped to make our stay so comfortable and homely. An amazing and perfect short break had by all.... would definitely stay here again.

Two bathrooms was ideal for us and Hubby loved the bath ( we only have a shower at home!!) Drive to cottage from main road is a tad rough, the milk vending machine at the start on the farm was a winner for us. Owner left an amazing hamper basket, complete with doggy treat too...all in all we had just what we needed a lovely escape in a cosy warm cottage, just spending some quality time together.

“We have just returned from a relaxing week at Ridge Cottage.”

What a week it was!! We truly couldn’t fault it… Firstly, the location is sublime. Very isolated, but in a very good way! Extremely tranquil and beautiful. Fabulous dark skies at night, gives fantastic starry skies above!! The cottage itself is absolutely gorgeous! Spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Vivienne and Lindsey, had left a lovely welcome basket of goodies (with our dogs favourite treat included!). Everything you need for a great week was there in this cottage. Wonderful environment for dogs, too, with lovely walks just outside the door! Our dog, Lady, loved it!! Vivienne was a lovely lady, who took the time to have a few chats. We would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage and we will be returning to see the rest of the beautiful Northumberland countryside!!! Thank you Vivienne and Lindsey!!

We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Ridge Cottage and were absolutely delighted with it. The cottage was warm, cosy and extremely clean with a lovely welcome basket on arrival, much appreciated after a long journey. The location is very peaceful and the cottage itself is immaculate. We’ve stayed in a lot of places that have seen better days but it is evident the cottage is well cared for and maintained by the owners, they clearly care about your stay and obviously take pride in Ridge Cottage. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! We will hopefully be back very soon!

Very comfortable and spotlessly clean through out with the best array of kitchen contents we've ever found in a rental property. Location is tucked away down a farm lane with fields all around making it quiet and peaceful. Our grandson loved popping out to look at the cows and spotting rabbits in the fields and across the yard. Wifi looks to have been a recent addition with fresh BT cable channels evident along the lane side - but we didn't tell our grandson! Would highly recommend.

It looked like many places we had stayed before but it was more spacious than expected. Our small children loved being able to go out either the front or back door into the secure garden areas whenever they wanted as there were no steps or other hazards. The cottage is in a beautiful and peaceful location and there is so much to do nearby. It is very well equipped and the owners are next door if you need anything.

Only suggestion would be WiFi - given the current world we live in it is really limiting to not have WiFi as everything is booked online in advance now so cannot easily plan the following days activities without any internet in the cottage in the evening. The cottage is comfortable and well appointed, the welcome basket of goodies was a lovely touch. It is in a perfect central location to explore both the beautiful Northumberland coastline, and the areas around the national park. Can highly recommend the Old Pheasant Inn in Stannersburn after a day at Kielder Water, pub and the food were both wonderful. I would definitely stay at the cottage again if ever holidaying in the Northumberland area again.

“The cottage was very clean and had everything that you could need.”

The owners were very nice and helpful and as well as providing us with milk, bread, cheese and a few other basic necessities, they were kind enough to provide us with a welcome basket that included wine, biscuits, chocolate and more. Although the cottage is in a rural location, it is only a few minutes down a long bumpy single track road and then you are on a recent "B road" and are about 20 - 30 minutes away from Morpeth and the Northumberland coast. There isn't any internet connection, but we were able to get a signal in order use our mobile phones just a couple of yards outside the cottage. This was one of the nicest properties we have stayed in and we hope to go back soon. Mike and Paula.

Sykes Cottages we’re unable to offer us anything else, this led to us having a really disappointing holiday even though the cottage was fabulous. One of the best holiday cottages my wife and I have ever rented. We have a handicapped grown up son so the wet room and wide doors within the cottage were a great boon to us. The cottage is located some way off the main road and shops are some way off but anyone who loves the countryside and the peacefulness will be more than satisfied. The cottages is well appointed with everything we needed for our holiday. It was extremely clean and well decorated My wife and I thought the welcome basket of goodies along with the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.Full marks to the owners. We were able to visit the Roman Wall, Keilder Water, National Trust properties, and the wonderful coastline. On the one wet day of our holiday we went into Newcastle on the Metro.

Thank you! All the little extras are on hand incase you forget anything and the cottage is well resourced. The cottage is found down a long bumpy track so you really are in the middle of the countryside and all the bonuses that come - owls, bats, nesting housemartins and fledglings being fed on top of our car was a delight and gorgeous views and sunsets. The surrounding areas really are beautiful and we only just scraped the surface during our week so another trip is being planned! Local shopping in Morpeth (about 10 miles away) is great - everything you need including the supermarkets. Lindisfarne was lovely but too busy but the quieter places such as Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Cresswell and Newton by the sea are fab! The latter especially for long dog walks along an unspoilt sandy beach.

Part of a delightful barn conversion, this stone-built cottage adjoins the owners' home in the rural hamlet of Whitridge, close to the larger hamlet of Longwitton, the village of Scots Gap and just 10 miles from Morpeth.

Comfortably furnished and well-appointed throughout, including wooden floors with toasty underfloor heating, this Longwitton cottage is in a perfect spot for exploring Northumberland.

This cottage near Scots Gap has two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is a walk-in wet room, making it ideal for the less sprightly.

To the front of this Northumberland cottage there is a spacious patio area with furniture and views of the spectacular countryside, a perfect place to sit and plan the day's activities.

A real bonus as the cottage is situated at the heart of one ofthe most beautiful parts of rural Northumberland with the surrounding area providing numerous riding, walking and cycling opportunities.

Whitridge near the hamlet of Longwitton and the village of Scots Gap is a small former farming hamlet in Northumberland. Scots Gap offers a shop and a superb country store, plus close by is the National Trust owned Wallington Hall, with its tea rooms, gift shop and excellent farm shop selling mostly local produce. Surrounded by stunning panoramic views, Rothley Craggs and the National Trust property of Rothley Folly, can both be viewed from Whitridge, plus the peaceful village of Meldon, with its 13th Century church is just 4 miles away.
