accommodation was clean, comfortable and very welcoming. Viviane was the prefect host, very helpful and it was lovely to meet the horses and her dog. It is a real lovely cottage .

Pleanty of room. Very good for anyone that is disable my daughter had a wheelchair and it was fine could move from room to room without any problems. Shame about the weather only two dry days which is the luck of the draw.

Ridge Cottage is a gem!

The Cottage itself is comfortable, cosy, well furnished and has a lot of space. The terrace offers great views to the countryside and one can enjoy quitness. The welcome of our host was overwhelming; with flowers,gift basket, milk, cheese and bread. After a long journey we just could sit down with a cup of tea and relax. . tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc, The welcome basket too was exceptional. We enjoyed a quiet relaxing week the the Northumberland countyside.

Ridge cottage lovely and clean beautiful surroundings very modern and comfortable we really enjoyed our week, fresh milk every day would definitely recommend this cottage.

Loved this cottage, it was perfect for our needs in a beautiful tranquil setting.

The only downside was that the single bed mattresses were too hard for us, but that is a personal preference as we prefer a softer mattresses and in no way a bad reflective on this property and would definitely book again

A lovely cottage and the owners are so welcoming.

A good place to be based for Northumbria with visits and places to see in all directions with excellent road connections. Accommodation is first rate, a good welcome basket is a bonus and helps to settle in to cottage on the first night. This was our second visit to Ridge View and wouldn't hesitate to book again if in the area again.

We enjoyed our stay at Ridge cottage.

The location is a little remote but the owners live next door and it is such a lovely place to be to enjoy peace and quiet along with the beautiful views of the countryside. A lot of thought has really been given to the people who spend their holiday there. We happened to arrive in the dark but the lights and fire were kindly put on for us. We were overwhelmed with the welcome basket, so much in it! And bread, milk and cheese in the fridge. There were even flowers on the kitchen table. The facilities and layout are great. The photos do not do this cottage justice. We were able to enjoy the sights of Northumberland quite easily from this location and to travel by train to Edinburgh and Newcastle from the train station located in the nearest town, Morpeth. We will look back on this holiday with fondness. The week just went too quickly A big thankyou to the owners for helping us to enjoy it!

One word sums this property up and that is PERFECT.

So clean, warm and cosy. Ideal location for stunning walks and a short drive to lovely beaches. Perfect for the dogs as the front garden is fully enclosed. Friendly hosts that advised on places to visit and great places to eat. Thank you very much. I will be back.

Nestled in the serene countryside, this charming cottage provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cottage was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated, blending modern comforts with rustic charm. The spacious living area, complete with a cozy fireplace, was ideal for unwinding after a day of exploring the stunning surroundings. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy for us to whip up delicious meals. The location couldn't be better! Ridge Cottage is conveniently situated on a quiet farm lane and near various walking trails, picturesque villages, and local towns and attractions. We visited Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and Hadrian’s Wall all within an easy drive. The hosts were incredibly attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their thoughtful touches and the most amazing welcome basket I’ve ever experienced filled with goodies for us and our dogs made us feel right at home. In summary, Ridge Cottage is a hidden gem that we highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. We didn’t want to leave!

Beautifully furnished, clean and well equipped. Peaceful location. Owners very friendly and left welcome pack for our arrival. Would definitely stay there again, it’s probably the best place we’ve ever stayed in. Just ticks every box!

Very comfortable cottage in an ideal location for exploring the Northumberland National Park and Coast.

Also within easy distance of Hadrian's Wall and Vindolander Roman Fort. We were warmly welcomed with an excellent welcome pack. We would certainly stay at this cottage again.

We have stayed in lots of Sykes holiday cottages and this has to be the best equipped we have had. Lindsey and Vivienne were lovely hosts and made us very welcome and the hamper was a lovely surprise. If we return to Northumberland we would definitely book Ridge cottage again.

The stay here was amazing so quiet and tranquil amazing space to sit outside and views were amazing the cottage had everything you could need for the stay we took my elderly mum away with us and having the wet room and all one one level was an added bonus couldn't of asked for any more thank you so much and would definitely book again

Such a beautiful homely cottage.

The welcome food & drinks pack was a lovely touch. We had a fantastic time and did not require any extra items as everything was to hand. My mum of 93 was able to relax and enjoy her holiday with all extra facilities provided. Many, many thanks for your kind hospitality. Penny & Tony

An excellent property in a really good location for touring Southern Northumbria and within easy reach of places like Alnwick, Cragside, Wallington, Belsay Hall etc.

The property was one of the best equipped I've stayed at with a lovely welcome hamper and flowers to give that homely touch on arrival. I can't fault this property and would happily stay/book again if ever in the area.

An excellent welcome pack, one of the most generous we’ve seen when renting cottages.

Very well equipped kitchen with a good selection of pots/pans utensils etc. for self catering. Cosy underfloor heating to the point we needed to turn it down as it was too warm inside even though weather outside was cold & wet. All of in all a place we’d like to stay again when we next visit the North East.

Excellent accommodation, very comfortable and clean.

Warm and cosy and everything you need. Owners are wonderful they left an awesome welcome pack which we really appreciated. Its a little out of the way but the views are fantastic we may try the summer next time.

Ridge Cottage has been 100% the best stay in a holiday cottage ever.

We were greeted with a welcome basket, card and flowers which was a very lovely touch. The cottage was a bit like a tardis - larger than imagined. It's in a tranquil and relaxing setting surrounded with beautiful views away from the hustle and bustle of town life. It also offers a perfect view for star gazing at the night sky. The front garden provides a great enclosure for my dog to roam freely without worrying he'd escape. The back garden also enclosed but as my dog is a medium to large dog I think he'd probably be able to jump the fence if he was given the opportunity. There are no shops within walking distance - which suited us just fine. Although there is a little farm shop to walk to selling lovely fresh milkshakes, milk and some meat products. There are some great walks from the cottage - one to Rothley Castle - next time I'd bring a local map for exploring the walks more. We travelled a little further a field to Simonside Ridge and Druridge Bay & Country Park - all were amazing!! The hosts are very friendly and helped to make our stay so comfortable and homely. An amazing and perfect short break had by all.... would definitely stay here again.

High quality bedding and furniture. Extremely well equipped kitchen. High standard of cleanliness. Wonderful countryside and scenery. Parking right outside the door. A really lovely holiday made perfect by delightful friendly hosts. Couldn't ask for anything better!

Two bathrooms was ideal for us and Hubby loved the bath ( we only have a shower at home!!) Drive to cottage from main road is a tad rough, the milk vending machine at the start on the farm was a winner for us. Owner left an amazing hamper basket, complete with doggy treat too...all in all we had just what we needed a lovely escape in a cosy warm cottage, just spending some quality time together.

Having spent many holidays in rented cottages, this has to be the best we have ever experienced.

A welcome pack of groceries/goodies got us off to a good start. The owners of the cottage had obviously given a lot of attention to detail; we wanted for nothing. The addition of personal items and furnishings around the cottage gave it a very homely feel. Very satisfied; we will return.

We have just returned from a relaxing week at Ridge Cottage.

What a week it was!! We truly couldn’t fault it… Firstly, the location is sublime. Very isolated, but in a very good way! Extremely tranquil and beautiful. Fabulous dark skies at night, gives fantastic starry skies above!! The cottage itself is absolutely gorgeous! Spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Vivienne and Lindsey, had left a lovely welcome basket of goodies (with our dogs favourite treat included!). Everything you need for a great week was there in this cottage. Wonderful environment for dogs, too, with lovely walks just outside the door! Our dog, Lady, loved it!! Vivienne was a lovely lady, who took the time to have a few chats. We would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage and we will be returning to see the rest of the beautiful Northumberland countryside!!! Thank you Vivienne and Lindsey!!

Wonderful place.

Clean, cosy, very well equipped ( probably one if the best we have stayed in and we always use self catering cottages). Hosts are just lovely and live just next door if you need anything. A beautiful location and even bad weather didn’t spoil our stay.

Wow Absolutely amazing.

Feel like ive been away for a month not 2 weeks.so relaxing but also only 20 min drive from everywhere. Such an amazing location, lovely and clean everything you could every need and with the wonderful owners next door built in friends and neighbours, lyndsay and vivienne are lovely there if you need them but also if you dont youll not even here them. They are great hosts and i thank them for sharing their home Xx

This cottage was a delight to stay in, very clean and well presented.

Peaceful rural surroundings-no traffic noise just birdsong. The welcome pack was well thought out and much appreciated, especially the glass of wine! Highly recommend Ridge Cottage.

The only drawback was the comfort of the lounge seating. Very uncomfortable. Tv could do with a bigger screen.

What a hidden little gem!

We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at Ridge Cottage and were absolutely delighted with it. The cottage was warm, cosy and extremely clean with a lovely welcome basket on arrival, much appreciated after a long journey. The location is very peaceful and the cottage itself is immaculate. We’ve stayed in a lot of places that have seen better days but it is evident the cottage is well cared for and maintained by the owners, they clearly care about your stay and obviously take pride in Ridge Cottage. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! We will hopefully be back very soon!

What a lovely cottage!

It was so cosy and very well equipped. The owners provided a very generous welcome pack, along with flowers and a card. It is in an extremely peaceful and isolated setting, but still within easy reach of some interesting places, such as Alnwick, Morpeth, Rothbury and Wallington. We absolutely loved it and will definitely return!

Excellent property.

Very comfortable and spotlessly clean through out with the best array of kitchen contents we've ever found in a rental property. Location is tucked away down a farm lane with fields all around making it quiet and peaceful. Our grandson loved popping out to look at the cows and spotting rabbits in the fields and across the yard. Wifi looks to have been a recent addition with fresh BT cable channels evident along the lane side - but we didn't tell our grandson! Would highly recommend.

We had a brilliant week staying at Ridge Cottage.

The cottage is clean and tidy and it has everything you need to have a comfortable stay. The area and views are just beautiful. A very nice touch was the welcoming basket with all the goodies and stuff you need so you don't have to rush out to a shop for a much needed cuppa, when you arrive. We had a very good stay at ridge cottage everything thing you could think of was provided,the underfloor heating was awesome especially on those cold nights,the welcome hamper on arrival was a nice touch, the owners were very attentive throughout our stay.

The location was perfect for us as we were visiting family and friends, there are lots to see and do in Northumberland as long as you are willing to drive as the location is rural, that never bothered us we would definitely stay at ridge cottage again.

We had every thing we needed and more.

A very generous food hamper was left for us as well......far more than we expected. It's a lovely part of the country, very quite if you're looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday this is ideal for you. With in reach of some very interesting places to visit also excellent places to eat. I would recommend this to any one. And would stay here again. The owners of the cottage are really nice people as well so what more could you want. Have come home relaxed and happy.

Ridge Cottage is a wonderful base to explore beautiful Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Great for our four legged friends with plenty of walks from Ridge Cottage. The cottage itself is very well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. It looked like many places we had stayed before but it was more spacious than expected. Our small children loved being able to go out either the front or back door into the secure garden areas whenever they wanted as there were no steps or other hazards. The cottage is in a beautiful and peaceful location and there is so much to do nearby. It is very well equipped and the owners are next door if you need anything.

Really beautiful and well equipped cottage.

It was lovely to have some treats waiting for us on arrival. Only suggestion would be WiFi - given the current world we live in it is really limiting to not have WiFi as everything is booked online in advance now so cannot easily plan the following days activities without any internet in the cottage in the evening. Overall though the position, facilities and cleanliness of this property were amazing! Thank you

This is the perfect property if you are looking for peace and tranquility in a beautiful setting.

The cottage is comfortable and well appointed, the welcome basket of goodies was a lovely touch. It is in a perfect central location to explore both the beautiful Northumberland coastline, and the areas around the national park. Can highly recommend the Old Pheasant Inn in Stannersburn after a day at Kielder Water, pub and the food were both wonderful. I would definitely stay at the cottage again if ever holidaying in the Northumberland area again.

A great base to explore Northumberland, just half an hour to the coast. A lovely hamper on arrival too. Would definitely stay again.

Better than most in most respects.

With respect to the “average “ cottage the rooms are larger, there is a higher level of equipment and it is all of good quality, it’s easy to find , the views are super . In fact we loved it and the wet room ( and 2 loos ) really eased our living arrangements.

The location was remote and peaceful and stunning views .

Walks from the accommodation were plenty and we were blessed with good weather. The welcome pack was fantastic and even included dog treats for our dog which was a nice touch . Lindsay and Vivian were lovely and couldn’t fault anything on this booking

The cottage was very clean and had everything that you could need.

The owners were very nice and helpful and as well as providing us with milk, bread, cheese and a few other basic necessities, they were kind enough to provide us with a welcome basket that included wine, biscuits, chocolate and more. Although the cottage is in a rural location, it is only a few minutes down a long bumpy single track road and then you are on a recent "B road" and are about 20 - 30 minutes away from Morpeth and the Northumberland coast. There isn't any internet connection, but we were able to get a signal in order use our mobile phones just a couple of yards outside the cottage. This was one of the nicest properties we have stayed in and we hope to go back soon. Mike and Paula.

Excellent converted barn and deserves 4 stars.

Owners live next door and helpful except do not expect them to answer phone calls for key details! As they are next door there is no key box and key is provided. The welcome pack was excellent and no problems with chairs or beds which makes a change! The countryside by the barn is outstanding except they do have strong cold winds even in June.

Glorious location.

Very peaceful. Cottage is has all the amenities for a relaxing stay. No Wi-fi but we didn’t care!! Central for places like Rothbury, Alnwick, Morpeth and Hexham plus the Northumbrian coast. Vivienne and Lindsay are brilliant hosts who could not do enough to make our stay successful.

Cottage was immaculate.

Absolutely everything provided including bubble bath, napkins, spare dog lead and a wonderful welcome pack which included wine , chocolate, milk, cheese etc. A beautiful location and lovely large patio to sit out on . Owners were happy to point out suitable dog walking routes. Cottage was lovely and warm so a perfect place for a winter break too.

The owners of this cottage have a very high standard and we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage, and all bedlinen, towels etc.

The cottage is also very well provisioned in terms of appliances, cleaning products etc - everything you could need. If you like quiet and remote places, in which to relax, for cycling, walking etc - then I recommend this cottage. (If you are of the Facebook breed who requires mobile reception and WiFi, then I recommend giving this total break from constant interruptions to proper family life a try...)

This was a lovely cottage in a fairly remote setting.

Ideal for a relaxing holiday. The owners provided a really good and comprehensive welcome basket which we appreciated. Everything was clean and warm. Literature explaining the workings of essential white goods was available. Would certainly recommend this property.

The welcome pack they gave us was most welcome after a long journey. The cottage is very comfortable and homely, set in beautiful surroundings, perfect for a peaceful get away, yet near to all the tourist attractions and beaches if required. We would definitely recommend Ridge Cottage and hope to visit again soon.

Less than 24 hrs before our holiday we were told that we couldn’t have our chosen cottage in Anglesey.

We took Ridge Cottage so that we could get a holiday, but we were so disappointed at the location, totally unsuitable for us. Sykes Cottages we’re unable to offer us anything else, this led to us having a really disappointing holiday even though the cottage was fabulous. Just not suitable for 4 pensioners with one in a wheelchair.

It was everything we had wished for and more.

They made my little girls dream come true by taking her pony on holiday. We were met by a beautiful hamper and were told some great ideas for days out. Nothing was too much for Vivianne and Lindsey, we would highly recommend this cottage.

Friendly owners who kindly left us a basket of goodies and essentials on arrival. . Property is cosy and has everything you need. Loved the underfloor heating and separate wet room & bathroom. Loved the horses, chickens and farmland location and the beautiful star filled nights. We also had snow! Would definitely recommend and love to return

Arrived to a spacious and very clean cottage with all amenities provided. Owners very helpful and friendly. a big thank you to Vivienne and Lindsey for making us most welcome in their lovely holiday cottage. The cottage is well equipped with plenty of space just wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the wonderful patio area with all the pretty tubs of flowers. We also appreciated the wonderful little extras provided. It was such a treat to find the food hamper plus other items in the fridge. A really warm and welcoming idea along with a card and flowers. what a great couple. This it is lovely, quiet location which made relaxing a real plus feature. A wonderful cottage only matched by the friendliness of the adjoining owners.

One of the best holiday cottages my wife and I have ever rented. We have a handicapped grown up son so the wet room and wide doors within the cottage were a great boon to us. The cottage is located some way off the main road and shops are some way off but anyone who loves the countryside and the peacefulness will be more than satisfied. The cottages is well appointed with everything we needed for our holiday. It was extremely clean and well decorated My wife and I thought the welcome basket of goodies along with the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.Full marks to the owners. It was our first visit to Northumberland and its beautiful scenery along with this gem of a holiday base makes a return visit inevitable.

Perfect location away from the crowd but with plenty of good walks and things to see all within 5 to 20 minutes drive.

Ridge cottage is one of the best equipped holiday homes we have stayed in we were short of nothing, the owners are lovely.

Everything is done for your comfort. If you enjoy getting away from it all (intermittent phone and no wi-fi) but enjoy the birds singing and peace, quiet and countryside, walking and bike riding you will love this cottage, or if you just want to relax and wind down this is a superb place to stay.

A lovely peaceful venue - no internet and minimal phone signal so wonderful for getting away from the hurly burly of modern life.

The owners were very helpful and friendly and the cottage was perfect for our family needs. We loved the tranquillity and relaxed peace of the surrounding area and was a perfect base to explore the Northumberland coast and in land. Loved the curious cows in the neighbouring fields!

We were very impressed with Rose Cottage, it felt like home from home.

We had intended to stay in early September as a celebration of our Golden Wedding anniversary, but my wife had to have a major op. on her spine, so we thought our break was lost. However, Sykes Cottages were very helpful and sympathetic and immediately contacted the cottage owners who agreed to move the booking date to October. This arrangement was very quickly made and confirmed much to our delight and some relief. The holiday home was in a quiet spot with lovely countryside all around and well placed for visits to several places of interest. We were made very welcome and would stay there again with no hesitation.

We all found it extremely comfortable and clean. All the equipment in the kitchen was of a very high standard, and we were delighted with our welcome hamper and the basics in the fridge. The photographs on the website did not do justice to the amount of space in the rooms, especially the sitting room. Ridge Cottage is in a good position for sightseeing. We were able to visit the Roman Wall, Keilder Water, National Trust properties, and the wonderful coastline. On the one wet day of our holiday we went into Newcastle on the Metro.

Thank you! All the little extras are on hand incase you forget anything and the cottage is well resourced. The cottage is found down a long bumpy track so you really are in the middle of the countryside and all the bonuses that come - owls, bats, nesting housemartins and fledglings being fed on top of our car was a delight and gorgeous views and sunsets. The surrounding areas really are beautiful and we only just scraped the surface during our week so another trip is being planned! Local shopping in Morpeth (about 10 miles away) is great - everything you need including the supermarkets. Lindisfarne was lovely but too busy but the quieter places such as Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Cresswell and Newton by the sea are fab! The latter especially for long dog walks along an unspoilt sandy beach.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location.

Very peaceful which was exactly what we wanted. It's in a really convenient location to visit all the main parts of Northumberland yet is remote and quiet. The cottage was very cosy and warm and a lovely welcome basket of goodies was left for us. We would consider staying here again if we want to go back to Northumberland again.

The accommodation exceeded our expectations, very clean, comfortable and very welcoming.

Rather than booking a hotel for a business trip that involved a 600 mile round trip I decided to schedule my work for a Friday and book a long weekend around Morpeth.

Remote ? Yes, but surrounded by grand scenery and the peacefulness allows refreshing relaxation. Remember to keep your petrol tank topped up!!!!

The location, property design, cleanliness, non-obtrusive but very friendly, helpful owners helped to make our week relaxing and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet ,well appointed home for the week. The countryside is stunning . We will be returning next year to carry on exploring.
