“A lovely cottage hidden away in the heart of the village.”

Beautifully maintained, clean, warm, cosy and quiet. Comfortable beds ensured great nights sleep. Kitchen equipped with everything we needed. It was perfect for us and we certainly would stay here again.

About the location

WOOLER

Berwick-upon-Tweed 16 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Alnwick 18 miles.

Wooler is a delightful, historic market town on the banks of the Wooler Water, one of the tributaries of the Tweed, nestling in the foothills of the Cheviots, which form part of the Pennine Way. Known locally as 'The Gateway to The Cheviots', Wooler has a selection of hotels and eating places and offers a magnificent location for exploring the whole of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Situated on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is just a short drive away from the historic town of Alnwick with its famous Castle and Gardens, and the well-preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Chillingham Castle with its ancient herd of wild white cattle and Coldstream, just over the Scottish border, are also a short drive away.
Northumberland has many Historic Castles, a National Park, the Cheviot Hills, and a 40mile AONB magnificent coast line.

Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot hills, which was where King Edwin and Queen Ethelberg 620ad had their summer palace at Ad Gefrin. Today near the village of Kirknewton, a monument stands where the palace used to be.

Wooler boasts a new whiskey distillery with museum which is named after the royal palace location, this has become a popular tourist attraction.
