A beautiful old farmhouse mixing the traditional with more up to date facilities.
From the toasty Aga in the kitchen to the open fires available in the sitting rooms to add that cosy feel ( central heating too) the house feels like it is offering a warm hug . The hot tub in the garden was well used and some of our group sat there to watch badgers snuffling their way through the top of the orchard . The games room saw some competitive snooker playing , I think the teenagers came out on top . Bamburgh & Seahouses less than ten minutes by car so easy access for evening takeaway meals on the couple of nights we didn’t use the Aga , roast lamb was slow cooked to perfection . The WiFi was a little temperamental at times , there seemed to be two separate connections and the smart tv’s weren’t fully operational. We were 5 adults & 2 teenagers and we all had a fabulous week in this lovely house , I would definitely recommend it , just be prepared for plenty of spider visitors if you go in October
We loved Elford , great location and a beautiful house .
Plenty of space . A fab conservatory, great kitchen , really well equipped and plenty of storage and fridge space . A lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated. Comfy beds, spacious bedrooms. We really made the most of the hot tub and pool/ darts room. Great fun . Things to be aware of , the stairs into the pool/ darts room are really not very safe. The garden is gorgeous but not that secure dogs wise . We just kept ours close when they went out or they would have been off into the woods chasing squirrels! We were unlucky as the Aga broke during our stay and couldn’t be fixed before we left . There are two small electric rings and an oven but it was a bit tricky cooking for 10 on those alone . The giant gas bbq saved us for cooking the enormous birthday paella we had planned ! We would definitely return , brilliant for multi generational family gatherings.
We loved our stay at Elford Farmhouse!
It is such a beautiful house with many characterful features. The grounds are stunning, too. It was perfect for the eight of us and we loved the hot tub in particular, as well as sitting around the fire playing indoor games. On the last night, two bats made their way into the house (I think through the skirting board in one of the bedrooms), which was very eventful and a bit frightening, but also very farmhouse like. I would definitely recommend this place.
