    “The cottage is set in a lovely area but has its issues.”

    The bedrooms are lovely and clean but the bathrooms and kitchen let the cottage down. Flooring in the hallway needs attention too. It states that it has a pittza oven but this is not fit for use, moss and cob webs and mud in the opening. Could not be used. Apart from this our stay was ok. Contacted Sykes after our stay regarding these issues, but the owner and Sykes are not interested.

    We are sorry that you did not find the cottage to your satisfaction. You had our mobile number and that of the agency if you felt that there were issues with the property. The first we knew about this was 2 weeks after you left. I think you should have at least contacted us or Sykes to give the opportunity to put these issues right. Your comments made, that neither Sykes nor owner are not interested is extremely upsetting and not true. In a private email forwarded to us by Sykes your statement says that “some of the people that completed reviews for Adderstone Cottage may have worn rose coloured glasses” which is extremely derogatory. We have had the property for over 10 years. Many return guests and I am sorry that we cannot be 100% all of the time. Property Owner

There is an abundance of things to do in the local area and Adderstone Cottage is in a prime location to enable you to enjoy them. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) Living room with multi fuel stove, TV/DVD/Sky Q and Netflix and iPod docking station. Conservatory/Dining room with stunning views of open countryside. Kitchen/breakfast room with electric oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Bedroom 1 with super king zip-link bed (can be set up as a twin on request), and TV/Sky Q and Netflix. BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
