Rose Cottage

There was a problem with the central heating - we had been warned about it and that it would be fixed on the Monday.

We were given the option of changing our stay to somewhere else, but we didn't want to change from what looked like a nice place, and boy did we make the right decision. There was a fire and immersion heater for water, and to be honest we didn't miss the heating and didn't even use the fan heater provided. The house is IMMACULATE and is the cleanest place I have ever stayed in. It is beautiful and well-appointed. We had a fabulous stay, and if I could award more stars than five, I would. the owner was helpful, friendly, informative and delightful. I'm not sure any other property could possibly match up to this one.

A very relaxing and enjoyable stay at Rose Cottage.

Excellent location being just a few minutes from the train station with regular buses to Alnwick and coastal routes. Plenty of places to eat out in Alnmouth, Alnwick and Longhoughton and an excellent village shop along the road for the essentials. Much appreciated the bottle of wine, fruit and delicious granary loaf on arrival. A perfect holiday. Highly recommended.

Rose Cottage is beautiful and of a very high standard with everything you need for a comfortable holiday.

It's in a charming village with lovely local walks and excellent links to Edinburgh, Newcastle and Durham via the local train station 10 minutes walk away. The wonderful Northumbrian coast is on the doorstep with amazing beaches and coastline. Sue is an excellent host - she sends a welcoming information email, leaves a lovely welcome pack and calls to check all is well once you've arrived. We'll be back to stay at Rose cottage.

Rose Cottage is beautifully maintained, very comfortable and cosy and is equipped to a high standard. The location is superb for exploring the lovely area but the weather before our arrival and the time of year meant a number of our usual haunts weren't open, but having such a welcoming 'home from home' to return to when we did venture out meant that didn't matter so much! We can highly recommend the Coach Inn in Lesbury, Topsy Turvy in Warkworth and the Jolly Fisherman in Craster for a warm welcome and great food.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rose Cottage.

Even before we had arrived, the owner (Sue) had made us feel very welcome by providing lots of information about the local area. This meant that we were able to start our holiday straightaway. Rose Cottage was a delight inside and out. Beautiful, quality furnishings, comfortable and so clean! It is obvious that Sue takes pride in looking after Rose Cottage and her guests. Thank you for the lovely roses and welcome pack of provisions. We enjoyed sitting in the pretty, sunny garden after a day of exploring the area. From the cottage we were able to walk into Alnmouth and also to the train station (to travel to Edinburgh). Alnwick is a short drive away where there is the impressive castle and gardens. We also visited the National Trust's Cragside and Holy Island - both definitely worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and hope to return to Rose Cottage in the future.

A beautiful cottage in a lush location.

It was very clean, lovely decor and had everything we needed. It was just a short walk to Alnmouth and the village shop was brilliant too, a really lovely community. The garden was a suntrap! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Rose cottage is a credit to the owners, Sue and Dean.

Immaculately decorated and furnished it is ideal for a 2 to 3 person stay. We wanted for nothing in terms of equipment, and the communication from Sue was excellent in highlighting some local walks and eateries. Lesbury itself is ideally situated for exploring this wonderful part of the country.

! I could not fault it. The decor and furnishing is so attractive and everything it top quality, kitchen and dining ware, bedding etc., and a bunch of fresh flowers! All Sykes Cottages owners could learn a lot from a visit.

It was absolutely spotlessly clean. We had many fantastic walks and for most days weather was reasonably good. Loved it.

The house is well equipped , everything had been thought of. It’s homely and tastefully decorated. We really appreciated the call from Sue before and when we had arrived. It was brilliant having a station so close, we had a lovely day going back to Newcastle. We thoroughly enjoyed walking to Alnmouth along the river and along the beach.

The property was home from home, everything you needed, with very tasteful homely touches throughout Very good cooking pans, utensils etc The owner couldn't do enough for you and made you feel welcome from the start by phoning a few weeks before with walks, etc followed up by an email with pubs, restaurants, directions for walks.

We (2 adults and a 14 year old) were lucky enough to spend a wonderful week at Rose Cottage.

The property was immaculate and beautifully furnished, absolutely spotless with everything (& more!) you could possibly need including a lovely welcome pack. The location is fantastic with lovely walks on your doorstep as well as numerous castles, beaches and villages just a short drive away. We also caught the train to Edinburgh for the day from the local train station. The property owner, Sue, was wonderful with lots of tips and advice before we arrived and also upon arrival. Communication was great and I know that, if we had needed anything at all during our stay, she would've helped us immediately.

Outstanding cottage well looked after and in good location for visiting the area, walking and eating out.

The owner contacted us before our holiday with useful information and we were made to feel very welcome. There is a wide variety of places to visit within a 25 mile radius.

The cottage was simply perfect.

It was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, with nice touches, such as the bright cushions, vases and even fresh roses. The kitchen was well-equipped and we ate in more than we had originally intended. We also enjoyed breakfast in the garden. We appreciated the phone call from Sue on our arrival to make sure everything was OK and the welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had. This is a great location for access to the stunning Northumberland coastline and the town of Alnwick. We shall definitely return.

Easy walk straight from the cottage to Alnmouth and only 5 minutes drive from Alnwick. The cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and has everything you need. Lovely welcome pack on arrival too! We will hopefully be back!

A lovely cottage in beautiful condition.

We were contacted by the friendly host with all the necessary information, plus other tips and lots of help for our visit. On arrival we were delighted to find the cottage warm and welcoming, and most generous welcome pack we have ever seen. The cottage is in immaculate condition. We immediately felt at home.and relaxed. The property is very well placed in an attractive village, and gives easy access for walks along the coast, There is a regular bus services with stops nearby (100yds) which give reliable transport along the coastal villages for linear walks along the beaches. All in all, a super stay, and one we look forward to returning to, Many thanks.

This is a beautiful cottage which we cannot recommend highly enough.

The hostess was so kind and helpful and there was a very generous welcome pack of unexpected goodies! The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. The location was wonderfully central for exploring this beautiful area. We had a car but there are local buses which stop just along the road. There is also a post office / shop, local pub (currently closed) and a welcoming church. Very many thanks to our hostess for a wonderful stay.

The cottage is very clean, comfortable and a home from home.

The small courtyard garden was a lovely place to sit and relax with a cuppa. The welcome pack provided by the owners is exceptional, we have never seen such a range of items. The cottage is well situated for exploring the areas around Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Cragside, and a host of other coastal villages, gardens and houses. We were a little disappointed to find the local pub is still closed but we did find a traditional pub in the village of Rennington, the Horseshoes. There are lots of places to eat in Alnmouth, but be warned, parking is very limited apart from the beach car park. The extra special touches for us were the phone calls with Sue, before we arrived and the day of arrival, this is a nice touch and shows great care for their customers. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay a Rose Cottage.

A superb terraced cottage in the middle of Lesbury,ideal for walking the stunning Northumbrian coastal path.

Bus stop for X18 and the 418 nearby that run up and down the coast ,cheap to use if you are planning long walks from the cottage.Sue,the owner contacted us before our holiday and gave us lots of useful information and left us a lovely welcome pack of goodies on our arrival.I'm sure we will return !.

Rose Cottage is a fantastic base for exploring the Northumberland coast and national park.

It is delightful, comfortable, relaxing and spotlessly clean. Sue, the owner, was great leaving a very generous welcome basket and making sure we understood the heating controls and ensured any problems would be immediately put right. My husband and I had a lovely week and after a year on and off of lockdown was just the tonic we needed and we could not have wished for a more wonderful week. Thumbs up to Northumberland as a holiday destination the beaches are amazing and the little coastal villages idyllic. Thank you to Sue and Sykes Cottages for finding us the perfect holiday home.

..couldn't fault anything. The cottage immaculate and situated in a lovely village and accessible to so many interesting places of interest ..Sue(owner) couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring our stay would be comfortable, leaving a very generous welcome pack. Lovely walks from the cottage...river and coastal rambles... Alnwick approx 3 miles away.Warkworth,Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses and other popular places nearby. We enjoyed tasty meals in Alnmouth which offered quite a few good eating places.We walked which took us approx 30 mins but would only be 10 mins drive. Would we return?? definitely, this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

Sue was very helpful and the welcome pack was very useful. The cottage is well situated in the village within walking distance of Alnmouth, but away from the hustle and bustle. Weather was perfect for walking and we could not have asked for more, so a very enjoyable holiday all round.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful and quiet village with lots of local walks.

A wonderful week, in a very comfortable and well equipped cottage.

The place was immaculate and well organised. We particularly enjoyed Alnmouth - easy to walk in or park in beach car park if carrying equipment. A ‘post lockdown’ trip to enjoy Northumberland and esp the coast was brilliant. Although the Farne islands boat trip was on a rainy day we saw so much wildlife which also exceeded expectations. The cottage has a little courtyard at the back which was a sunny, quiet place to sit, enjoy and read after a day out. The cottage was also warm when the heating was needed and was very efficient. The owners were attentive and informative. Lovely to see the little village shop still in business. Thank you once again Sue.

Arrived in the afternoon to find a great welcome pack from Sue.

Access was easy and straight into a modern cottage. Everything you need and more is made available to you so no need to rush out to shops. although they are on your doorstep a few miles away in Alnwick. We used as a base to get up to Edinburgh and Lindesfarne for a few days and was easy access to A1 and the locals area. Alnmouth was a great afternoon walk and some nice places to eat. Overall was a nice few days away and a great base to go north or south

Rose cottage was delightful, set in a quiet and pretty village.

The location, next to the village pub in Lesbur, was a huge bonus offering very good pub food, with friendly staff and locals. The surrounding area has so many things to see and do and excellent restaurants. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again.

This a very comfortable and well equipped cottage.

The location is excellent...you can walk to Alnmouth easily and there are fantastic walks in the area close by. The living room in the cottage is spacious and the kitchen has everything you need.....we were very pleased with the welcome pack left by the owner for us.There is a nice back garden with a table and chairs. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space. The broadband works well and the tv reception is good. There is parking outside the cottage and there is a pub nearby. It is very quiet at night. All in all, a very good place to stay to enjoy all that Northumberland has to offer.

The cottage is well located in a little village next door but one to the pub. There is also a very pleasant half hour safe walk down into Alnmouth with a massive selection of tea shops, pubs, cafes and hotels and beautiful sand dunes and views.

We loved it. So many little extras and a great welcoming pack of local produce. Sue provided a wealth of useful information on places to visit and restaurants to try. All of which were spot on. Lesbury is the perfect picture postcard village with a great foodie pub next door but one to the cottage! A wonderful week!
