“A great property which we have rented before.”

Spacious, modern and well equiped for the two of us (+the dog!). The apartment was clean and comfortable, and despite our stay being in November, was pleasantly warm with a modern "Nest" thermostat to control the heating. The property is literally a two minute walk from Alnmouth's fantastic beach. And while this is not a complaint, I feel it worth mentioning that being a ground floor apartment, a degree of noise from the first floor occupants might be expected. Overall though, a great place ...

“Lovely property and 2 minute walk to the beach.”

Kitchen is well equipped and living room is cosy. Some lovely touches like a collection of board games and spare throws and blankets make it a lovely home from home. Will definitely be booking again for our 3rd visit .

“As we’ve been here before we knew what to expect.”

Yet again we weren’t disappointed. The kitchen is very well equipped, including dishwasher tablets, cleaning products etc which you don’t always get in a rental. All areas are of the flat are very clean, tidy and very comfortable. Positioned very near the beach, pubs and restaurants of Alnmouth. A lovely weekend break - pity we couldn’t have stayed longer. We will be back very soon. Thank you

“The main bed was so creaky ,turning over or going to the toilet woke the other person .”

We decamped to the small bedroom but the bed was too small for my husband.As a result we slept in separate rooms.The mattresses (which I gather are relatively new) were not very comfortable- perhaps a mattress topper would help.Sleep is very important so we would not return to Alnbank. It’s the first holiday cottage we've stayed in where there wasn’t a pint of milk in the fridge.I’m not concerned about a welcome pack but that would be helpful. I hope these are seen as constructive comments as we really enjoyed Alnmouth. Rosy and Mike Bishop

Dear Mr and Mrs Bishop, thankyou for your feedback. We have investigated your concern and even tested the double bed but we did not hear or experience any major creaking. We even removed the mattress to see if the frame was damaged but found nothing? I read and respond to all the reviews and we haven't had a similar concern prior to your observation? The mattresses are only 2 months old and we selected medium to firm mattresses on all the beds. We understand that the double bed and mattress are not the same as you may have at home and this may be the reason why it was not to your liking. We try extremely hard to maintain standards and based on the excellent reviews we have had, you can understand why we would be disappointed to have such a harsh review of our property. We understand that a good night sleep is important, hence why we selected good quality beds from Ikea. Your assessment of the accuracy of the listing was only 50% and the facilities at 50% but did not explain why? We understand your disappointment but feel that your review reflects one very relevant issue but your scoring of the overall property appears to reflect only this issue. We are sorry that you state you would not return to Alnbank as our repeat visitors runs at 37%. We wish you well. Thankyou. Property Owner

“If I could rate this property and owner more than a 10 I would.”

Steve definitely went over and above the call of duty. Helping two oldies to get the tv up and running! Technology definitely fails us! After trying to help over the phone he took a 35 minute drive on a Saturday when traffic would be busy to our apartment to solve the problem which I am certain was not the tv but us! “This is a well located property in a lovely village by the sea.”

The village is just off the A1 so it is easy to get wherever you want to visit. The property has plenty of space and has all mod cons you need. Excellent value for money.

“One problem at an otherwise perfect stay.”

I chose to use the bath, unfortunately on completion I could not get out I was stuck. Shouting to my wife who came to my rescue. Im 83 my wife is 82 the bath is deep and wide witch prevented me getting purchase power. Whilst at the time it was laughable it could have turned into a situation.

Very clean, well equipped, amazing amount of games! Our only complaints would be the beds, they are extremely uncomfortable and all 4 of us had minimal sleep. The sofas also are clearly in need of an upgrade, very soft/well used.

“This is our 2nd stay at Alnbank and we l9ved it just as much this time as the 1st.”

The closeness to the beach fir our aging Labrador was perfect he found a new spring in his step which was fabulous to see. The house its self is spacious, warm and cosy and has everything you need you make you comfortable. As with other reviews and from staying at the property previously, I really think it's time to purchase a new oven, although there are instructions I found them difficult to translate to the actual dials on the oven. The 1st night after a few changes on the dials we got the oven working fine, 2nd night I just couldn't get the right combination and it ran cold for a long time until I twiddle a bit more. That is my only complaint once again we had a great stay and will visit again in the not too distant future. Mrs A. Macdonald

It was very clean, all the mod cons you could ask for. The kitchen was a lot bigger than we expected and the bathroom heated floor was very nice. Will definitely look to stay again in up in that area again.

The kitchen would benefit from a few more utensils, e.g. tongs, additional frying pans, baking trays and a new oven as the dials were worn off and the oven linings were very loose. The double bed was very creaky and the mattresses were very thin on all the beds. Overall we enjoyed our stay and with a few improvements it would be great.

“We generally really liked and enjoyed the property, especially as it was only two minutes from the beach, so handy for dog walking.”

It was pleasantly and comfortably decorated and furnished, and well equipped. Our only criticisms/suggestions, which were very minor, would be the re-decoration of the shared entrance hall, the provision of decorative garden lighting for the rear terrace, the provision of more than one loo roll, and perhaps the provision of a kitchen roll. And finally, we must mention the locals...Wonderfully friendly and approachable!

“The Yard and garden furniture was dirty and unkempt.”

The kitchen was dated,needed a good clean and Makeover. The oven grill did not work and the set points on the controls were unreadable.Parking was quite tight and we did not get a permit from the owner.On a whole I not feel it was worth the money we spend staying there. We have payed less for a better standard of accommodation at peak times in Northumberland.

“Clean, comfy, well equipped apartment.”

Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating system so certain areas were very cold. The owner contacted us and arranged for a heating engineer to call and was clearly concerned and very apologetic about the problem. Extra fan heaters in the property so managed to heat the necessary areas. The open plan kitchen/living area was well equipped, good shower in the bathroom, parking permit for outside the property, close proximity to the beach and Main Street.

The parking permit was very much appreciated. Lovely and clean. At times a little chilly especially in the sitting room. But then again it was January. The mattress on the double bed could be better, crisp white sheets and a choice of pillows would be perfect.. Perhaps a shaving point in the bathroom. All in all a very lovely apartment would definately stay again

“Alnbank was in the perfect position for us in the heart of Alnmouth just two minutes from the beach for our twice daily walks (with scottie).”

It was very warm and welcoming and we very soon felt at home. It was well equipped and we appreciated both bath and excellent shower which also served as a drying area on the very wet day.

Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea.
