“Baysyde is situated in a quiet, but central position in Alnmouth.”

The car parking space was a real bonus. The house is a nice size and fitted out really well, with good quality beds and mattresses. The view from the lounge window across the estuary was lovely and we were literally a minute from the beach, the town with a small number of pubs and shops and even a playground! Plenty to do as a family if you like being outdoors. Lots of walks for the dog and most places in the town are dog friendly. The staircase is typical for the age of the property, very ...

The car parking space was a real bonus. The house is a nice size and fitted out really well, with good quality beds and mattresses. The view from the lounge window across the estuary was lovely and we were literally a minute from the beach, the town with a small number of pubs and shops and even a playground! Plenty to do as a family if you like being outdoors. Lots of walks for the dog and most places in the town are dog friendly. The staircase is typical for the age of the property, very steep so that won’t suit some people. The outdoor area is not enclosed, but the owners have provided a dog gate which was handy to place across the patio area. All in all we had a good stay and would highly recommend.

“We had an absolute blast in Baysyde!”

The apartment/house was spot-on for exploring the area. The beds were super comfy, and the rooms were all nicely sized with plenty of storage. The place was beautifully presented and decorated. We loved the “upside down” layout of Baysyde, but I can see that the stairs might be a bit too much for some folks. On a side note, Alnsmouth is a treasure trove of interesting shops, walks, restaurants, and pubs. If you’re up for a mooching day, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

“Baysyde is a lovely place to stay.”

Very comfortable and well equipped (apart from egg cups!). It's position was perfect for us with the beach and estuary just over the road, just right for early morning dog walks. The sunsets were spectacular too. It was great to have a parking place as it can be difficult to park in Alnmouth.

“Apartment excellent apart from the tricky spiral stairs which, as a 87 year-old with dodgy legs, made me very cautious about falling.”

The website showed all the fine rooms etc but not the stairs in any way, nor was there a hint of stairs saying, for instance, that it was a duplex. I had assumed the website was showing everything on the level. I managed with difficulty and some trepedition but overall enjoyed our holiday.Just think somebody even less mobile should be made aware there are stairs.

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Baysyde . Regarding the staircase, we have added a note in the description of the cottage to describe the stairs. The staircase isn't a spiral staircase as such but a curved wooden staircase with a handrail all the way down and other guests have not reported issues with the stairs. However we do value your feedback and it may prove useful for elderly guests and/or those with mobility issues to know the difficulties you experienced. If you decide to stay at one of our cottages again we suggest Riverside Lodge which is also 2 storey but with a much gentler staircase - also with a handrail all the way down. ALNMOUTH

Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.
