The bedding from the previous guests was still in the bathrooms and it was obvious that the house needed a thorough clean. So the beginning of our holiday was spent on the phone to the local office trying to find cleaners at short notice on a Saturday evening. So the beginning of our holiday was spent on the phone to the local office trying to find cleaners at short notice on a Saturday evening. Thankfully two really lovely people turned up to change the beds and to give the place a very quick clean, while our family had to sit in the garden out of their way to let them get on with it. Not a great start and despite the best intentions of the cleaners we realised that the property really needed a deep clean - the furniture was dusty, there were fluff balls under furniture and around the floors and the kitchen was just generally grubby. The property itself was good and in a great location, but there was an unloved feeling to the house, mattresses' were hard, sofas and chairs uncomfortable and not adequate for the number of guests (which is really important when the weather isn't great), very poor/worn carpet on the stairs and no rugs on any of the wooden floors, and a radio or blue tooth speaker would be really handy. We were not contacted again by the local office - I thought they may be in touch to find out if everything was ok - just as a courtesy really following the inauspicious start. Quite disappointed considering the cost of rental.
