    “The cottage is fabulous.”

    The owners clearly love it and have furnished it with a lot of thought and style. The views are stunning. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything was in good working order. The only issue I had, which was purely personal was the firmness of the mattress on the double bed. It was too firm for me. Otherwise, we had a really enjoyable stay. The parking place is really tight, which the owners had hi-lighted, and meant that we tended to park on the road for ease.

Estuary View is a spacious and radiantly sunny house overlooking the Aln estuary, tucked away away in the heart of the village. A private path leads down to the village playground, estuary and beach, past the pretty cottage garden with its many layers designed for outdoors cooking, eating, playing or just lazing in the sun. No ordinary cottage, this characterful house is an Architects' own favourite mix of colours,paintings books and antiques. With its stunning views licked by sun-drenched estuary light, the house itself is also ideal for a cosy winter retreat next to its books, binoculars and heavy-duty Scandinavian wood-burner. GROUND FLOOR Family sitting and dining room: sunny with wood burning stove and stunning views over the river, boats and estuary. Well equipped foodies' kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, bespoke recycled glass worktop, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and combination microwave/oven. Utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer. FIRST FLOOR Extra sitting room with wall mounted and TV and DVD. Bedroom 1 with twin beds and estuary views. Newly renovated bathroom boasting a long bath and overhead shower, WC and basin. Drying cupboard for sorting wetsuits or damp clothing. SECOND FLOOR Bedroom 2 with 6' double bed, window seat and panoramic views. Bedroom 3 with twin beds and views over village rooftops. Shower room with shower, WC and basin. Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.
