“We thought Five Bells was a delightful cottage, ideally located for exploring the coast and surrounding area.”
The cottage itself was very well equipped - the owners had thought of (almost) everything. We weren’t expecting a roll of kitchen towel and we were told by Sykes to bring our own tea towel, but this was also supplied. The Nespresso machine along with capsules was a lovely touch. Incidentally Alnmouth does not recycle glass so you will need to take this home or drive to a recycling bank. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. We couldn’t fault the cleanliness of the whole cottage. A previous reviewer mentioned the parking and this is definitely something guests who are thinking about staying at Five Bells should consider. The cottage itself has no parking and we had to park illegally upon our arrival to unload. My partner then drove off to find somewhere to park and was some distance away. This didn’t bother us as we are active people but might be an issue for some. Alnmouth is a very popular place and parking is at a premium. When we had days where we used the car we made sure to stay out until between 5 and 6 pm to have a better chance of getting re-parked, which we always managed, but only just on one night. We did not dine in the Indian Restaurant in Alnmouth, as the night we thought about it, the restaurant was completely empty (never a good sign) and upon checking the reviews they were not good. We can highly recommend Mumbai in Alnwick - very reasonably priced and fantastic food.
