“Alnmouth is set in a stunning location, and a place we return to year after year.”

Situated in a central position, with dedicated parking, Schooner Court provides exceptional quality accommodation that is both well-equipped and presented to a very high standard. We have stayed at Schooner Court No 1 on more than one occasion and the experience each time means we have no hesitation in highly recommending it to others. We will certainly be rebooking ourselves when visiting Alnmouth again.

“The only downside of the holiday was the building works opposite and the state of the balcony overlooking the building site.”

The fake grass on the balcony was covered in moss balls and other rubbish and the chairs and tables were very scruffy, but facing the building site there was no temptation to sit out there. We appreciate that the building site opposite is not your direct responsibility but on windy days we had to clear loads of builders rubbish from around our car and had to remove rubbish before we could park in our allocated spot. It was clear that the builder or developer had run out of funds and that the site was closed down, so the problem is likely to persist for some considerable time.

Thank you for your feedback and for the scores you gave for the apartment. We are glad that you had a good stay but disappointed that there were some issues. We will check the balcony furniture and replace it if necessary. Regarding the building work opposite, although it is nearly finished the work on it is beyond our control. However, it was included in the property description on the website and additionally we contacted all guests staying in June and gave an additional discount because although the work is not disruptive, it is a bit unsightly. “1Schooner Court was very well furnished and fitted out with all matching furniture and joinery to a high standard.”

As stated in the property info the construction works being carried out are a bit unsightly at the moment but did not disturb us at all. If nitpicking I think some new cushions on the couches would match the high standard of the other furnishings.

“Betty the dog and I have just had a very comfortable week in Schooner Court No 1.”

It had everything you could possible need and was of a high standard. Yes, the building work was going on but I can't say it bothered me over much as I was out much of the day and they seemed to finish about 4 pm anyway and did not work at the weekend. It did not really detract from my stay. The apartment is very close to Alnmouth's beautiful beach, shops, cafes and coastal path from which we went on many lovely walks. I can highly recommend this property and location and would not hesitate to return.

“Good modern property.”

Well equipped and located. Parking space a plus. We’ve stayed here a couple of times and would look to again but concerns over the hosting company increased booking fees.

“Cleanliness could be improved, blinds, sofas and mats need cleaning as well as behind bedside cabinets/ beds full of dust.”

Noise from builders was far more than we had been advised, with it staring every day at 8am and even 7am on the Saturday, no chance of a lie in. Marketed as sea views which isn’t technically correct as it’s estuary views which are obscured by the building work/ other properties.

Thank you for your feedback. We will look into the issue you raise about the cleaning - we rarely get comments about this so we will check with our cleaner. We did contact every guest to inform them of the building work and gave a substantial discount, however, work should not have taken place on the Saturday - we have contacted the builders about this. We have just checked the property description and sea views are not mentioned: it says '....a balcony where you can enjoy the view of the estuary', and this is shown in the accompanying pictures. “We have visited Alnmouth for over 30 years.”

It is an ideal place from which to explore the many delights of Northumberland with its spectacular countryside, beautiful beaches and historical sites. There are good places to eat nearby, some good pubs and all are dog friendly. During our visits, we have stayed at a wide variety of properties in Alnmouth, but none have been better than Schooner Court. We had the the upstairs accommodation, which lived up to its online description and photos. We can highly recommend Schooner Court and intend to book a return there in 2024. At the moment there is some building work taking place opposite the property, but we had notification of this beforehand and we found it did not detract from our time there. This work we are told, will be fully completed in October and should if anything, make it more appealing to visitors in future.

Schooner Court No1 is one of two apartments that has been presented to a very high standard with quality fixtures and fitting. This first-floor apartment has open plan living space, benefits from gas central heating, a balcony where you can enjoy the view of the estuary on that sunny afternoon and evening and private parking. Being just metres from the park and beach near the mouth of the River Aln and a short stroll from all amenities the popular village of Alnmouth has to offer. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (1st Floor) Separate entrance with stairs to first floor. Open plan kitchen/dining/living area with electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave. Dining table and chairs. Living area with comfy seating, TV/DVD, IPod dock. Access to balcony with seating and views. Bedroom 1 with king-size bed, en suite with shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail. Bedroom 2 with two single beds. Bathroom with bath, over shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail. OTHER FACILITIES Balcony with table and chairs with view of the estuary. Gas central heating. All power, bed linen and towels included in the rent. Private parking for 1 car. Schooner Court No1 is above Schooner Court No2. Both properties can be rented together, sleeping 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. This would suit families or friends wishing to holiday together. There are building works taking place opposite Schooner Court 1 and 2. The work is nearing completion, but it is anticipated that there will be some activity on the site through April and May, possibly with some final internal work in the summer. Neither the owners of Schooner Court 1 and 2 or Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages have any control over the neighbouring works and it may be that no disturbance at all is caused throughout your holiday but at some time during the midweek (work is not permitted at the weekend) there may be some activity.

ALNMOUTH

Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

Note: There are building works taking place opposite Schooner Court 1 and 2.
