    “We liked the house and its situation.”

    However we were unable to adjust the shower temperature from much too hot, and although this was reported early on to the company (the only number we had), we received no meaningful response and no effective action or follow up, so that the shower was effectively unusable for the week. This is not acceptable. The listing should state that although the house is dog friendly, guests are asked to toilet their dogs away from the premises and the lane. This is inconvenient especially when a dog is ...

    Thank you for your feedback, Peter. We are sorry that you did not receive the support you needed from our management company when you reported difficulty adjusting the shower temperature. We have since checked and the shower is working fine, so we are sorry to learn that the instructions we passed to our management company to share with you never reached you. We have now put a new process in place to ensure guest queries are dealt with promptly. We will also update our listing to clarify that as Dodds Nook has no garden, we ask guests to toilet dogs away from the property. There is a lovely churchyard with grounds at the top of the lane which is perfect for dogs. We hope you and your dog enjoyed your time in Alnwick and that Northumberland was kind to you. The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
