“As a group we self cater and know what is expected when booking this type of holiday, but we all felt that this property let us down.”

We were a party of 6 adults and the single beds in the two bedrooms were very old and uncomfortable, more suited for children we felt; they were very noisy and the headboards banged on the walls, so we had to move them away to stop the noise all night. The bathrooms should have had more toilet rolls but were very clean. It would have been nice to have a complimentary BBQ coals instead of telling guests where to buy them from. With us being 6 adults it wasn’t good at meal times as there isn’t enough kitchen workspace for us all to help and prepare meals. It is such a large kitchen it could benefit from an island to help with space. The equipment was good, but some smaller saucepans and frying pans would be better that the huge ones. We also had complementary dishwasher tablets, but this wasn’t enough for our visit, these should have been provided on the provision that the dishwasher was on twice a day. The irony is we purchased dishwasher tablets on the Monday and the dishwasher then broke on the Wednesday and we couldn’t use it. That wasn’t nice, when you book somewhere with a dishwasher as you like using them rather than hand washing, so that put a downer on the holiday. We liked the well equipped garage with wind breakers and other stuff, I could see there were things for kids and a pool table, that was lovely to see. The location is the property is superb, right on the sea front and Beadnell beach is just around the corner. The garden also is lovely with a few garden birds and their nests, to watch them coming and going is lovely. It is also nice of an evening to open the window and go to sleep with the sound of the sea. A really nice relaxing holiday for us all, despite the bad backs from the four of us sleeping on the single beds. A few nice touches to this property would give it a 10/10, but for us we wouldn’t go back unless these were sorted out. Definitely return to Beadnell though!

Thank you for your comments. It is through such channels that we can improve future experiences. I will address each of your points in turn. I can confirm the beds are not old and that they are standard single bed size, ie 3-foot wide and compatible for adults. There have been no previous complaints in this regard. I am sorry that the headboards banged on the walls. We have tried to address this matter recently, but it appears that children have pulled at the headboard fixings. We will review this. We are not responsible for the provision of toilet rolls or of dishwasher tablets. The provision of these falls to the management company. I will address this separately with the management company. We have noted your comment about barbecue coals and will provide these going forward. Regarding the kitchen workspace. We provide a drop leaf kitchen table situated in the utility room which can easily moved into the kitchen and act as an island should extra work space/casual eating space be required. Many previous occupants have done this and have welcomed the flexibility this provides We provide a range of different sized pans and frying pans to suit all party sizes. We have had no previous complaints in this regard I’m sorry that the dishwasher broke down on Wednesday; the dishwasher had been working perfectly prior to this. The management company immediately informed us of this matter and an engineer was booked to attend that day. However, he was unable to. I understand he attended on Friday and declared the dishwasher irreparable. I immediately commissioned and paid for an urgent replacement. This has been fitted. Thank you for your other exceedingly favourable comments. Property Owner

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
