Great accommodation in great location for nearby destinations.

Beadnell has a lovely beach and a couple of lovely places to eat and drink. The cottage had everything you need for a lovely stay

Having stayed at this property previously 2yrs ago, we were so excited to return, having loved our first visit.

It makes us really sad to have to say that this visit wasn’t the same experience. We still love the cottage, it still has that lovely cosy feel to it and was very clean, kitchen well equipped etc and the welcome tray was a lovely touch. However, as some of the other reviews have touched on, the comfort element lets it down. The sofas are now really uncomfortable, there is little padding left so just like sitting on wood. The mattress in the double bedroom desperately needs replacing as unless you sleep dead in the middle, you risk rolling off the sides. There is new bed frames in the twin room, but they creaked terribly and when we looked under the mattresses it’s clear the slats are not made for those bed frames, they are far too short and have been taped / screwed into a board to try and keep them in place but it is very precarious so did not lend itself to a relaxing nights sleep, as you were worried they would give way at any minute ( we had to try move slipped slats several times during our stay ). These issues can hopefully be resolved easily, as that is all it would take to make this a fab place to stay once again !

The property had everything we needed and lots of spare kitchenware etc which was really useful.

Unfortunately when we got there the heating was locked so we couldn't adjust it but once I text the caretaker this was sorted. Overall the property could do with a little maintenance and spruce up things like the extractor fan in the bathroom is blocked with gunge and there are cobwebs in the stairs, just a few bits . The biggest issue we had was the double bed mattress which is really uncomfortable, I note this has been mentioned in previous reviews but is still the same, it basically tried to tip you out when 2 people are in it and is not flat. Overall we had a great holiday but just a fene comments for improvement.

Clean , well equipped property.

A good location as close to Beadnell beach and an easy drive to Seahouses ,Alnwick and Holy Island . Would welcome a visitor comment book as we have always found it useful to see where others have enjoyed visiting or found interesting.we had a good week in this beautiful part of the country.

As the other reviewers have said, a lovely cottage.

However Bath needs drain cleaning Shower unit, tiles need a good mould and scaling clean! Walls need painting Needs a good deep clean Finally curtains have been peed on by dogs so stained, need replacing. I would also question why I'm stripping beds to make the cleaning quicker when the house is not 100% spotless

The double bed is the worst bed we've ever TRIED to sleep in.

The memory foam rolled you off left or right with a hump in the middle. The court yard needed weeding and the dead plants in pots needed removing. The table and chairs were rusty and marked your clothes, therfore no appeal to sit out there and enjoy. The bathroom needs some TLC The shower head was filthy, mould round the sink and bath and mould impregnated in the sealant around the base of the bath. Under the rim of the toilet was a heavy build up of limescale. All in all not the best stay we have ever had. On a lighter note, the kitchen is clean and well equipped with decent sharp knives and plenty of crockery and cutlery. The location is very good for all amenities, pubs and cafes just around the corner and no disturbance after hours. The shop which is well stocked only a few minutes walk.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay in with the beach just a short walk .

The places to eat are really nice and the pub is a very very short walk , with a great outdoor sitting area . I slept in one of the single beds and found it comfortable, however my wife had the double bed that definitely needs a new mattress. That was the only thing that we would advise the owner to get sorted . We will definitely be going back to this property, probably next May

A beautiful cottage in a peaceful location.

The decoration throughout the cottage reflected the location of the location, the beach and the history and made it feel like home. The owners had really thought through what you need on a holiday and it was all there. The kitchen was very well equipped and the property was vey clean. We had a wonderful holiday and came back thoroughly relaxed. We will definitely be returning!

Shower head is filthy.

Doors on kitchen units greasy and dusty. Could do with a decorate. Yard outside shabby. Sofa very uncomfortable.

The property was very comfortable apart from the double bed.

This was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep in the single bed which was a bit better. My husband slept better on his own in the double bed as he could stay in the middle so he wasn't rolling to the edge.

Great location

Just back from staying at Smugglers Cove for Christmas.

We had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property and location. The owner and caretakers were amazingly helpful. The cottage had everything you need and more for a home away from home. Very well equipped kitchen, which was appreciated as we did Christmas lunch - turkey and all the trimmings. We walked on the beach at Beadnell Bay every day for the most amazing sunrises and scenery. We just drove the short distance as you get an hour free in the car park there but you could walk it in 10 mins or so. So close to Bamburgh and we visited The Farne Islands too which was about 30 mins away and a scenic drive. The location really is stunning and great for exploring what Northumberland has to offer.

This is a great property in a great position within Beadnell.

We had a great stay. The only negitive feedback would be the matress on the double bed was far to soft and the yard could do with a tidy up. I would definatley book this cottage again

This property was in a great location, close to the beach and to a range of pubs/eateries.

The property was comfortable, well furnished and equipped with quality items. information re what to do with bedding, towels and bins was clear and helpful. The property was absolutely spotless. If anything could be suggested for improvement it would be the small rear courtyard which needs weeding and would benefit from some decor eg hanging baskets/lights/bunting. This wasn't an issue for us at this time of year (October) as we didnt use outside space. there were a selection of goodies including gin and tonic and bisuits but I agree with the previous reviewer who said it would be of great benefit to have some milk to be able to have a warm drink on arrival. As I had read this review by a previous guest, we bought some on the way. There was a dripping tap in the kitchen and we left a note re this for the cleaners to see so hopefully resolved for future guests.

Our stay at Smugglers was fantastic.

Everything was clean and spotless. Beds were extremely comfy and the shower in the bathroom was lovely & hot and powerful when you needed a blast after a rainy day. I would say, whilst the welcome pack is a very thoughtful idea - a couple of sachets of milk to start off would have been very welcome. We travelled over 6 hours and was not able to make a quick brew whilst we unpacked before we went shopping for essentials. The cottage is very well placed for everything in the village with the pub being 2mins and The Courtyard being literally next door. The Bay and Landings are about 10mins walk around the coast (there may be a shorter route but we didn't find it) Thank you for allowing us to stay I'm your beautiful house.

This was our first stay at this gorgeous property.

It was clean and had a lovely feel about it. There was every thing we could possibly need at the property. The seating area at the back is a real sun trap. Our wet suits were hung out to dry in no time. The property is a stone throw away from the beach so a walk along the beach was a daily essential. It was a lovely gesture arriving to a gin and tonic, biscuits, tea and coffee. Treats were even left for our fur baby which he thoroughly enjoyed. There is parking at the front for one car which is safe from the main road. We would definitely stay here again.

The cottage is superb, it really is a home from home - they have thought of everything. Great local pub & Cafes in the village for eating out.

Lovely cottage in lovely location.

Everything we could possibly need was provided. All very comfortable. Particularly liked how light and airy it is. Beadnell itself has lovely beaches and no shortage of good quality food. Recommend Saltwater cafe.

Nice clean, compact, well appointed cottage.

Good dog friendly places nearby to eat, such as Salt Water Cafe, The Courtyard and Craster Arms. There's also decent takeaways in nearby Sea Houses. We visited the National Trust's Cragside and Lindisfarne Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and enjoyed coastal walks during our stay. We used Google Maps, Street-view to help find Smugglers Cove Cottages. There is a name-plate on the wall of the terrace of cottages but it has become covered by a bush. I suggest that the bush is cut back so that the name-plate can be read. My wife, myself and Minnie the dog recommend this property

A lovely clean cottage.

In a quiet area within easy reach of Seahouses and Bamburgh. The cottage had everything we needed with a delightful welcome tray. We will definitely return when in the area again.

The cottage was very well equipped, really comfortable and in a great location. Beadnell is lovely. We have already booked to stay again!

If it were my property, I would invest in tidying up the back yard and in making a more attractive place to sit out on sunny evenings

It instantly felt like home from home, we looked forward to returning to get all cosy in the evenings. Everything you could possibly need is provided, and the little touches with the decor just made it feel so welcoming. We both said we could live there given half the chance ! The welcome tray was such a lovely surprise and Ted was very impressed with his treats as the doggies are usually forgotten about ! Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage, we look forward to returning some time in the near future.

We had a wonderful stay in this warm cosy little house.

The only thing I found difficult were the overpowering scent sticks. The kitchen was extremely well equipped - even a mussel pot. The living room was lovely - full of light and the sun for most of the day. The beaches are spectacular. Beadnell and the surrounding area are a doggie paradise. I have never seen so many and so varied a collection.

Amazing holiday home, well located in the village, very well equipped and loved all the little quirky extras pictures ect.

A very clean and comfortable cottage in an ideal location for visiting the Northumberland coast.

We arrived mid July with our Border Collie and had a fantastic stay.

Everything was in order and as described, the kitchen/cooking equipment was second to none and so clean. The cottage is so comfortable and relaxing, a real home from home. We have since booked for July 2024 and cannot wait. Many thanks, a beautiful place, Sheila, Paul and Millie.

Great cottage in a perfect location to discover the delights of the Northumbrian coast.

Nice quality touches in the cottage and useful enclosed back yard when staying with dogs. Highly recommended and good of the cleaner to let us know we could arrive a little early.

A grab rail for shower over bath would be very helpful .
