Swale Cottage

Everything was as expected.

A lovely welcome pack for humans and dogs was a welcome addition. The shower was huge and plenty of hot water. I don’t really like electric cookers but managed to make a couple of meals after a bit of fiddling about. The property had all the equipment you could need. The bed was comfortable enough but the quilt was far too hot. A 13.5 tog so we slept on top of the quilt. Seagulls woke us each morning at about 6am. Not much you can do about that. There is a lovely shortcut to Beadnell Bay so we were able to leave the car and walk. There is seating in the front garden which we did make use of despite the weather forecast of rain. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Swale Cottage.

Overall we had a comfortable relaxing stay at Swale Cottage.

However it was spoiled slightly due to the fact that the cottage across the road was having a major garden makeover. The workmen were on site 9-4 They were filling a skip using a High-Tip Tracked Dumper which spoiled the tranquility with a constant diesel engine rumbling all day long. I know you have no control over who does what and when. It’s just one of those things. Overall it didn’t spoil our stay as we were out most of the time. The front door has a funny locking mechanism. You have to insert the key sideways pull the handle forcefully all the way over to the right and then some more and turn the key simultaneously. My wife couldn’t use it. Again only a minor niggle. The cottage it well maintained. Very clean and homely. Would we stay there again ? Definitely !

This was our second visit to Swale Cottage as first time we found it spotlessly clean, cosy , comfortable and well equipped.

Beadnell is a lovely village with pubs and cafes close by, with a lovely beach within walking distance. Hope to revisit as we love Northumberland.

I found Swale cottage to be a clean and welcoming place, the hamper the owners left was very much appreciated.

It is well located with close proximity to beach, 5 mins, which Robin(hungarian vizsla) greatly appreciated. My only complaint, and I'm being very picky here, the pillows on the bed were too soft for my liking, I'm a firm pillow person. Overall a fantastic place to stay.

Very clean, comfortable and very much home from home. Susan and Norman are lovely hosts and have thought of everything to make it a very enjoyable stay. We will be back again very soon for our 5th stay.

The property was clean and tidy and was well maintained.

The hamper was a nice surprise and very welcome. There was not enough storage space for clothes and maybe a small rug in the bedroom. On the whole a pleasant vacation.

Very nice place to stay, clean and comfortable, short walk to lovely sandy beech, very good pubs within short walk Caster Arms and the Landing, a very dog friendly area so able to take our dog almost everywhere with us.

When you arrive it’s like a home from home. Comfortable and welcoming. A lovely touch is the welcome basket with tea coffee biscuits and wine it even has goodies for the dog. We love this area, the coastline is stunning and the people so friendly

This property has not been well maintained and really needed a deep clean.

Sorry but too much bling. Shower needs re grouting. Windows and sills needed a good clean. Had a cheek to have sign to leave property clean. I had to buy cloths to give shower and sink a good clean.

Not a romantic bolthole with a noisy bed covered in cheap polyester bedding - we paid £374 for two nights and expected a 5 star experience - we had better amenities and better quality at the previous property just 100 yds around the corner on the 5 days prior - vastly overpriced and feel scammed

Super cottage , everything was in place for our stay, the welcome pack was appreciated, furnishings was comfy and tastefully decorated , nice comfy bed too The area around was quiet and very clean, overall it was a good location to explore Northumberland coast etc.

1 note we brought the small table and chairs inside and found it a nice dining area by the front window

Swale Dale Cottage welcomed you in with open arms.

The minute you stepped over the threshold it was ‘Home from Home’, the owners, we felt had thought of every thing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The wicker hamper full of thoughtful goodies was much appreciated. The information pack had plenty of information to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. The furnishings were thoughtfully planned and the sofa and chaise longue very comfortable. All in all a very relaxing stay at this lovely cottage.

Area perfect, coupled with this amazing cottage made for a great time had. Welcome basket to greet us - Cottage comfortable -well equipped- Beautiful decor - nice outside area - Owners Susan & Norman readily on hand if required but a phone call away. Local information file to refer to. Highly recommended. Myself the husband and spaniel couldn’t fault it.

Swale Cottage is very welcoming, from the lovely Welcome Hamper, to the quality of the furnishings.

Cosy and comfortable best describes it. Location is great, just a few minutes from the beach, a local convenience store and pubs that serve food. We enjoyed our weekend and would recommend it as a great place to stay.

First time there amazing cottage first class.

Everything you need is there will be booking again. Didn't want to leave.

The only snag was the distance to the car park, so carrying luggage was hard work.

A map of Beadnell included with the other information in the folder would have been useful. Some WD40 on the fastening for the gate would have made it easier to operate, and a key fob on the key would have made it easier to remove from the lock. WiFi was excellent, as was TV reception in the lounge. Not as good in the bedroom. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. A shame about Storm Amy!

It felt so comfortable from arrival , there was ample areas to relax. The kitchen was well equipped for whatever you needed to do and the lovely hamper was very much appreciated too. Very comfortable bed for a good nights sleep. Bathroom also well laid out. Pleasant sitting out area outside. All made our holiday really pleasurable. We would love to return.

Always lovely and very clean with a really well equipped kitchen etc. Even better now the WiFi has been sorted. Excellent new tv also. We love that the beach is only a few minutes walk away. Also the Craster Arms is 5mins away and serves lovely food (and allows dogs). We will be returning to Swale Cottage next year.

Just returned from a fabulous stay in Swale Cottage , the cottage was spotless , everything there that we needed ,and a gorgeous welcome basket left for us.

The outdoor space was safe for our dog. The cottage is in a great location and 5 minutes walk to a lovely pub , would highly recommend, thank you very much :)

Great location and mainly quiet.

Mattress uncomfortable and pillows even worse need replacing. Only one towel each for a week which isn’t hygienic with there being no washing machine. Nice gesture of a welcome hamper but not everyone drinks alcohol - nice touch though. Issue with lock to front door. Overall a pleasant stay.

The location was in a quiet cul de sac within walking distance of the beach, the pubs, the shop and the bus stop. A fantastic base for exploring the local area.

You will not be disappointed if you go to Swale Cottage.

Excellent accommodation.

Well equipped and stylishly furnished. In a quiet location a short walk away from the coast road and beach. Beadnell is well placed for all the coastal walks. The accommodation is clean and the bed is comfy. Slight problem with the shower was fixed immediately by the owner. Highly recommended.

Sited 5 mins walk from the coast, this property has everything you need for either a short break or a week's holiday.

The location is on a cul de sac and is very quiet, with a small local shop nearby. This location is ideal for walkers ( with or without dogs) , watersports ,as the strong coastal winds provide excellent conditions for wind surfing etc. A short distance away is village of Seahouses , this has a range of shops and eateries and also a wide range of boat trips to the Farne islands for nature enthusiasts. On the whole the area and location was ideal for that break from the rat race of modern day living. Forgot to mention the very nice welcome pack.

We were really pleased with the cottage and its layout, having stayed in a similar cottage around the corner, this one was superior in its decor and what the owner has done to create more space.

Great size bathroom and bedroom with wardrobes. Kitchen had everything you needed, apart from a dish washer, but not necessary when there’s plenty of places to eat out near by.

Our second stay in the property,so that is recommendation in itself.

A very well maintained cottage that has been designed to a very top spec.

It's provided with everything you would need if you decided not to eat out. "home from home". The icing on the cake was the comfortable bed which I very often struggle with when we go away. Also the little welcome pack is very thoughtful.

Our stay in Swale Cottage was excellent.

The cottage had everything to provide us with a lovely few days away. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise,thank you. The Cottage was clean and cosy especially when storm Ashley was beating at the door. We had lovely meals at the Craster Arms and Courtyard cafe just a short stroll from the property. Daisy,our four legged baby,loved the beach. We would return to this cottage in the future.

Lovely bungalow / cottage great location lovely and warm 2 X TVs living room and bedroom enjoyed our stay it's a little cramped space wise when cooking however really minor issues and a full size ironing board would have been good.

Our third stay in the cottage, and just as good as the previous two stays.

The cottage is well placed for the area and has the local amenities are adequate, we would recommend both the cottage and the village to anyone.

This cottage had everything you would need for your holiday stay and was excellent.

The only fault was being 81, I was a little apprehensive with the shower. An excellent size but I would have appreciated a grab rail in case of slipping, a minor point but important if you are elderly and have mobility issues. Would definitely recommend this holiday cottage.

Swale cottage is modern and very comfortable.

There is everything you could wish for, like being home from home. Secure garden, which is great for the pooches in your life. Lots of dog friendly places to visit and also the local pub is dog friendly and does lovely meals. Easy to get to the coast really enjoyed our stay. Thank you also for the welcome hamper.

This is the third time we have stayed at Sweed cottage this year, I did never disappoint.

Always immaculately clean has all home comforts. It has well located for the village and the beach. Both only minutes away. Is it it is an ideal property for two people and a furry friend. I would have no hesitation rebooking this and hopefully will be getting back there again this year If you’re looking for value for money, comfortable place to stay a great location don’t look any further One Small criticism, the WiFi isn’t brilliant, I don’t get a normal signal on my phone and the WiFi is very slow. Could do with a boost. But five star otherwise.

This is our second visit to Swale cottage and will be coming back.

It is ideal for two people and offers all the comfort of home. It is immaculate and done to a very high standard. Great location within the village and walking distance to everything. It is very well equipped and I even cooked a Sunday dinner !!! The second time we went, it was just like going home. A lovely welcome hamper was supplied too. My only criticism would be that it really could do with new pillows on the bed, they are past their sell by. But that’s only a very minor problem. I was going to book for new year, we were that last new year, but it’s already booked, someone going to have a lovely time.

We had a lovely stay and the cottage was well equipped.

A couple of things would have improved our visit. The night storage heaters were off when we arrived in the early evening and so didn't give out any heat until the next day - it would be nice for the place to be warm for guests to arrive. The other slight issue is probably impossible for the owners to control...the noise coming from both neighbours houses! The walls must be very thin I think? We heard whole conversations, tv programmes, a dog barking and a child crying, but most annoying was the neighbour to the right if you face the building from the street, who moved furniture around and hoovered every morning at 7am!!!! But these were only minor annoyances even so - the house is comfortable, well-equipped, clean and brilliantly located!

A beautiful well presented seaside cottage.

The place is small and compact and suitable for two people and one dog it has a beautiful interior, I just extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need to make for a comfortable pleasurable stay. It represents excellent value for money I have paid more to stay in other places which has not been as good as this one. There was a substantial welcome hamper as well as dog treats. Everything has been thought of to make you stay pleasurable. I will certainly be recommending the property and also booking again for a visit this year Well done guys. Your home is beautiful. Right

No comfortable dining area inside or out only a small breakfast bar. limited outdoor space only at the front of the property overlooked by footpath and road. Double bed small.

Loved the decor, well equipped kitchen, spacious shower. Welcome hamper a good touch. I had one issue with the door, Susan and Norman came straight away travelling from Gateshead to rectify it. Friendly helpful hosts. Would highly recommend a stay.

Close to village and beach. Everything seems to have been thought of to make our stay comfortable. Would have preferred bigger bath towels is the only (minor) suggestion for improvement.

Unfortunately you can hear the neighbours which was frustrating at 6am. Nice seating outside but not very private as you are at the front of the property.

The cottage was welcoming and very nicely furnished with lovely cushions, ornaments and paintings of Highland cows-we loved it.

Fridge is tiny so not able to have shopping delivered as no room to store anything more than a days food but that's a minor gripe. Perfectly placed for access to the beach and Craster Arms pub (excellent food). Will definitely be booking again.

Beautiful cottage in fantastic location

Lovely, clean and modern bungalow in a fabulous, easy to walk to the beach location in Beadnell.

The bungalow was easy to find, being winter we parked right outside, nut it does have an allocated parking space in a car park behind. The bungalow is spacious, modern with comfy furnishings and everything you could possibly require for a home away from home stay. The fresh flowers and generous welcome hamper was a lovely surprise, as was the dog hamper including treats and a towel. The owners have thought of everything but a small suggestion would be a rug in the lounger area for added comfort and a rug to step out of bed onto on a cold, snowy, wet winters morning. Would we return, definitely.

We enjoyed the stay at the cottage , it was well laid out .

My only gripe is the dining chairs which we found hard to sit on , but thats us .The welcome pack was filled with nice things ,,The cottage is well placed for getting to places too, like Seahouses and Berwick . Local facilities are good too , including the beach . All in All a nice place to stay

Great bungalow in a central location with nice furnishings.

Comfortable enough for two with all needs covered. A lovely touch with a hamper each for humans and dogs! The only comment I would add is that the bed frame (metal) looks great but needs tightening up on its joints as every time one or the other moves it squeaks which is annoying, especially if it wakes the other up

Absolutely superb property, very clean and comfortable, the welcome basket is a lovely touch as are the fresh flower's.

There is not one thing I could fault with the property. We had an issue with the shower and the owner of the property swiftly and promptly dealt with and resolved the problem. We will certainly recommend this property to other's.

Very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

A Welcome hamper there for us plus treats for our dog. This property is excellent for a nice holiday in Northumberland. The only small negative, and it is small, is that the photos kind of give the impression that there is a private garden seating area but there is only a bit at the front of the property, as it is a back to back bungalow and u can hear the neighbours through the walls. Apart from that it is very comfortable and we didn't have anybody staying on either side of us for the last 4 days of our stay. Overall for the price, it's a nice place to stay, we had a nice time there.

The hamper and doggy welcome box were very thoughtful and the cottage nice and quiet but close to the beach and coastal walk and local amenities eg bus, pubs, cafe, shop etc. We would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We are in our 70s so found the furniture too low for sitting comfortably.

This bungalow is perfectly located to get to all the popular places you could ever want to during your stay. Welcome pack with milk and tea etc was very nice. Could not fault the facilities in the property. Lovely quiet location. We discovered a few foot paths that we used to get to the local pub and beach quicker. Would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we return to Northumberland.

Your place was very well equipped and clean. I hadn’t noted there was no washing machine so this was a problem for us. We couldn’t seem to find the keys to open/unlock the windows and this wasn’t too much of a problem but would have been in hotter weather.

Lovely welcome pack and property, pity about the roofers working next door over the weekend, starting at 08:00 Saturday morning, our first morning.

The roof is now completed but beware, more work will be needed to finish the extension. The property is ideal for the long, sandy beaches and village centre. A fish and chip van is situated adjacent to the well stocked, village shop. Eating at The Beadnell Towers Hotel for Jan's b'day which was very expensive and nothing special. A 10% service charge was added automatically. We do recommend, The Salt Water Cafe for coffee, cakes, lunch and dinner. The Craster Arms is warm and very dog friendly. Over all we had a very relaxing week, in this very well decorated, comfortable, well equipped hideaway. Unfortunately the evening before leaving, people arrived at the other side of us, with two yapping dogs. We love dogs but make an exception when they put out and left too yap for what seems like a lifetime. Saying all this we would return to this property that also dog friendly. Well done to the owners for thinking of everything you would need whilst here.

Swale Cottage is a wonderful, clean, well equipped cottage, it had everything we needed plus more.

The welcome packs were a great idea, all the little touches within were great. It’s a lovely cosy property to return to after a day exploring the stunning beaches in the area. All in all, we had a fantastic time despite the weather deteriorating towards the end but it meant we could catch up with The Crown on Netflix!!! Thank you for a great holiday.

On the positive side it was very clean and comfortable ( apart from the many cushions, though not a problem)!

The hamper was delightful and most welcome. The only slightly negative was the shower went from hot to cold a few times. Other than that we were very satisfied with our stay.

One of the best properties I have stayed in when visiting Beadnell.

Very spacious and well equipped, it is a great base for exploring the Northumberland coast line. The welcome pack was a very nice touch. This was our first visit to Swale Cottage but it will not be our last

The property was completed to a high specification, with all comforts catered for.

The welcome package and little touches made it all very special. The only criticism I have is that the shower flow is really poor.

Excellent property,nicely decorated.

Cosy and comfortable,with a very generous welcome pack.Good location in Beadnell,which we have visited before and is a lovely village. Only a couple of minor suggestions for improvement: shower is a bit weak,though water pressure in bathroom sink taps is good,so worth the owner having a look to see if the shower can be improved. Also a colander and a couple of extra serving bowls including a salad bowl would be great.

Cottage facilities are all good.

Good welcome hamper. Good location. Says king-size bedroom, which means large bedroom with double bed. Paid £440, so good value. Over £700 next year. Won't be booking.

We have had the most amazing time.

The cottage was truly beautiful, with lovely furniture, decorations and fittings. There was everything we needed and a fantastic ‘welcome hamper’ for us and a goodie box for Otis our dog! About 10 minutes to walk to the beach, 10 minutes to a lovely pub and restaurant and fabulous weather to boot! We couldn’t have wished for anything better......so much so we have booked to come again this time next year!

This little bungalow is beautifully decorated, and had a real WOW factor when you opened the door, everything was spotlessly clean.

The owners had gone the extra mile to make sure we had every comfort. We loved all the furniture, bed was comfortable. A very generous welcome hamper, lovely toiletries and even chocolates on the bed and fresh flowers. Lots of different types of glasses and even a cocktail shaker, everything looked brand new.

Had a wonderful time in Swale Cottage.

The décor was hi spec, it was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack for both me, my husband and our dog Bobby was very much appreciated. Unfortunately the weather on the coast was unusually foggy but we drove inland and the temperature was 11 degrees warmer. We will definitely return at some point.

Wouldnt hesitate to recommend both Sykes Holidays the customer service was first class through out and Swale Cottage is definitely first class the welcome pack was amazing the furnishings are excellent and cleanliness made it feel so safe in these difficult times ,ideally situated a short walk to the sea front and the local eateries selling excellent food.

The beeches in the area are superb so clean and stretch for miles.The locals are all so friendly too.

Small bungalow but had everything you could want, everything good quality.

Perfect for a short break. Beadnell is a great base for walking holiday.

Swale Cottage was just perfect for the two of of us and our dog.

The cottage itself was immaculate and was equipped with everything you could possibly need. We also received an amazing welcome hamper for ourselves and also for our dog. The surrounding area is incredible with beautiful sandy beaches. We visited Warkworth, Alnwick, Alnmouth, Newcastle, Bamburgh and spent a lot of time on Beadnell beach watching the kite surfers. We will definitely return!
