“Beautiful cottage, perfectly situated to get around that area of Northumberland.”

The views from the cottage to Bamburgh castle were great. The cottage had everything that we needed including, coffee machine with pods provided, washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, TV, seating area to the front and rear, great to catch the sun at any time of day. Nearest shop approx 5 minutes drive away. 2minutes from the A1 although you couldn't hear the traffic. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will hopefully return next year.

The cottage was great with everything we needed. It was very clean, comfortable and cosy and we very much enjoyed our stay at Bellshill and would have been happy to stay longer if we could. Next time we venture up to Northumberland we will definitely be booking the cottage again.

“The Cottage was quiet, clean and comfortable.”

Close to the A1 for travelling as well as a lovely walk along the lane from the cottage. Everything needed in the compact kitchen for self catering and the comfortable sofa, woodburner and TV were appreciated on the cold, wet evenings. Once the clouds lifted we had amazing views of the coast and Bamburgh Castle. Great off road parking and attractive outside area to sit although the weather didn't allow us to.

“This is a beautiful holiday home.”

It’s been upgraded recently and is nicer than the photos suggest. Particularly we enjoyed the garden at the kitchen side of the house with artificial grass which wasn’t photographed and we loved the big corner sofa. The views out to the coast are amazing and this feels a sold, safe home. Well supplied with everything we could have needed. Private and we really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you ☺️

“What a fabulous cottage!”

The view across to Bamburgh Castle and the sea were stunning with a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy it. The binoculars are a thoughtful touch. Really clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated the big comfy sofa after a day's exploring. A lovely peaceful area to stay whilst being close to the A1 for easy travel to nearby sites. Will definitely be recommending this cottage to everyone I know. Thank you!

“Really fantastic property with lovely views of Bamburgh Castle and the sea, set in a peaceful, rural location, ideal for sightseeing!”

Decorated in a thoughtful way and to a high standard, the cottage was perfect for the two of us, and had everything we needed! The large corner sofa was a lovely surprise as that’s not shown in the photos online, and we also benefitted from the wood-burner one chilly evening, and enjoyed the lovely decking area with its comfortable furniture and beautiful views most mornings! We even played a couple of the board games that were provided! In short, we had a really wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend 2 Bellshill Cottages! In fact, we hope to return ourselves one day, as there are so many beautiful and interesting places to visit in Northumberland, we barely scratched the surface!

“We enjoyed our stay, the lounge was comfy with a great view and it was very clean.”

However our stay was spoiled because of the double bed. Firstly, it should have been a king size, to cater for all heights of people, but mainly it was the poor fitting mattress, which was very shallow and worn. Plus the wooden edges of the bed meant that this dug into my legs as I got in and out. I noticed another holidaymaker commented on this as well. The owners may well be perfectly happy with their bed, but they have to think of the people renting. The cost of our break is not a cheap option any more and a proper bed is essential. ( All hotels now have a KS platform bed with no hard edges and a padded headboard-this would also give more room at the bottom of the bed) Complaining during the stay would have been futile, so I have to do it here. Otherwise we loved the cottage. We sat outside and the garden furniture was much appreciated as was the well equipped if small kitchen. Everything worked which we used and the decor was lovely. We stay in holiday lets about 4 times a year and have done for 30 years and we know that the standard has greatly improved, but we cannot not mention the bed-sorry.

We have stayed at the cottage a few times and have always found it to be clean and warm the owners have changed the decor furnishings several times between our visits and if you moved in to live there would no need to do anything,we were all very impressed. Dave Joyce Sharon

“Nice homely cottage.”

Good quality furnishings. Very close to neighbours. The towels were only small bath towels and only one hand towel provided for two adults. In my opinion, these would have been better if they had been bath sheets and two hand towels provided. The cottage has the most wonderful views.

“Lovely rural location,views are splendid, across the fields towards Bamburgh Castle.”

The cottage is attached on either side but luckily both properties were unoccupied. Kitchen is small but usable. The log burner was useful on cool evenings and we brought paper, firelighters and logs with us. Only real issue was a lack of hand/face towels. We would expect more than just a bath towel each and a shared hand towel! Also some milk and a small welcome pack would be a nice touch. In all a lovely stay.

“Was a lovely location and panoramic view but the cottage left a lot to desire.”

Was very close to neighbours and not real privacy. The master bed mattress was very uncomfortable and I feel time for a replacement. The bed frame also has a footboard which is not good for a taller person like myself. The master bedroom could also do with blackout blinds. The kitchen was very small and no real storage. Photos of kitchen were a bit deceptive on how small it was. The dining table did not have enough space for the four people to sit around and was cramped between wall and couch. There was also a bee problem which was not resolved and we were interrupted the first day of our stay with pest control but obviously they did not resolve the problem. Would have been nice to have a little bit of kindling and firestarter and also more toilet paper for the week. Just felt the bare minimum was done and nothing to really welcome a guest.

“Lovely cottage.”

Well appointed and furnished. Warm and comfortable with great views across to Bamburgh and Budle Bay. Perhaps the provision of a pint of milk and some tea bags and coffee for arrival could be a suggestion to make the stay even better. We would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing break. It's in an ideal location to explore the beautiful Northumberland area and especially its magnificent coastline.

Very cosy as it was colder than we anticipated. Central heating worked perfectly. Very closed to A1 yet far enough not to hear the traffic. The view from the cottage across the country side was lovely.

Bellshill Cottage is an attractive stone built cottage with lovely views over countryside to the coast and is a peaceful base from which to explore Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

It is well equipped and has been tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard.

There are rural walks on the doorstep, Bamburgh (5 miles), Budle Bay and sandy beaches are a short drive away and Berwick, Alnwick and Holy Island are easily reached by car.

Belford (3 miles) is nearby for shops and pubs. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) Kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, large fridge/ freezer, microwave and washing machine. Living/dining room with log burning stove, Smart TV, patio doors to front garden. Bedroom 1 with double bed and views over coast.

Bedroom 2 with full size single bed and single day bed (suitable for children only). Bathroom with bath, hand shower, WC and basin. OTHER FACILITIES Enclosed patio garden to rear with garden furniture and enclosed front garden overlooking the coast.

Alnwick 15 miles; Berwick-upon-Tweed 15 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideally placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coastal Route, Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders. The opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from nearby Seahouses, is not to be missed. Alternatively check the tide times and cross to Holy Island to visit the historic Lindisfarne Priory.
