“Plumtree Cottage is perfect.”

“We enjoyed a wonderful week at Plumtree Cottage.”

Everything we needed was available, the cottage was very clean and cosy and in a perfect location for sightseeing. We enjoyed watching the birds, rabbits and cows in the field in front of the cottage and in better weather would have sat outside for our breakfast. There is so much more to see and do that I know we will definitely come back to this cottage, but sadly it is already booked for our preferred weeks next year! Our fisrt visit to Northumberland did not disappoint.

It was spacious and tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing and most enjoyable stay. It was private and overlooking fields but still near a road with easy access to many beautiful locations. It was a short drive away from Alnmouth station on the busy Newcastle to Edinburgh line. We would highly recommend this property.

Well positioned for walks along the coast (Alnmouth, Boulmer, Craster) as well as in-land visits (Cragside, Hulne Park). Also well equipped and cosy for just relaxing indoors. We appreciated all the little touches that made the place feel like a home from home.

The owners were on hand if you needed anything but did not interfere. The location is excellent for some lovely places to visit. A rural location looking out onto fields making the stay so restful. Cows wandering in the field and birds feeding on the feeders. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

“Fantastic property, very clean and everything you need.”

Absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in wholeheartedly recommending this cottage. Set away from the main road looking out on to a field of cows. Yes, you have to drive to reach any amenities but this is what makes the cottage so restful and appealing to us. The only minor gripe is that the bed is quite small when you are used to a king sized bed, but this is a personal issue and for most I suspect not an issue.

Pleasant, quiet location with a grass field adjacent Owners were approachable and helpful. The only minor difficulty we had was turning around our 5.33 metre long vehicle in the narrow drive but the owners helped by parking their vehicles to allow us a bit more turning space.

“Everything was as described.”

It would have been lovely to have had a welcome pack ie tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter and when ringing the owners about key collection, for them to ask what we would like in the pack, but this is only a minor matter. We did receive a lovely bottle of wine and some flowers. Can't wait to go back in March for my husband's birthday treat and booking again for October before all the dates go. The cottage was so warm and great to have a clean cooker as some places we have been to I have had to start cleaning. A warmer duvet might be needed in Winter but the bed was very comfortable. Well done the owners

This is a beautiful part of the country, and we were ideally placed for exploring. We don't drive, but there is a good bus and train network from Alnmouth itself. Would definitely come back again.

The cottage front has a patio with planters and looks across fields. There is also a lawn to the side. Patio doors open on to the garden and the views beyond. Inside, all the furniture, kitchen and bathroom etc. are modern. The owners were very welcoming and have provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. We would certainly use Plumtree Cottage again.

In a beautiful setting overlooking open countryside, with many places of interest in either a short walk or a few miles drive away. The interior of Plumtree cottage is tastefully decorated and has everything that you could possibly need for a restful holiday. Sue and Richard are wonderful hosts nothing too much trouble for them. The cottage had everything we needed. The outdoor area is really lovely with views over a huge field of rabbits, hares and lapwings. Managed to sit out for a sunny breakfast once but would have done lots more if the weather was better. Great location for visiting places. A lot to do within 20 mins drive. Nice walk to Alnmouth where there are some nice little shops and some good eateries.

A brilliant base to explore the beautiful coastline and countryside. We would definitely recommend the cottage. It is very well equipped, clean, comfortable, cosy and warm. The information booklet was very useful. There are plenty of lovely pubs and restaurants in the area, we tried several and thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to Sue and Richard, who were so nice, the wine, flowers and card, was a really lovely touch. We would love to return if we are back in the area.

It is extremely well-equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners are very welcoming and helpful and you could not ask for better hosts. The surroundings are private and peaceful and the only noise is the sound of the trains going by behind the cottage.. For us, this was in fact an added bonus. It is without doubt one of our favourite places to stay for a relaxing, stress-free holiday in the best county in England, and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Plumtree Cottage is a lovely detached stone built cottage finished to a high standard combining contemporary furnishings with quality modern equipment.

Dating from 1850 it is located in the grounds of the owner’s home and has lovely rural views.

Located a few miles from the coast at Alnmouth with Alnwick 4 miles away.

The cottage makes an excellent base for touring the Heritage coast and inland moors and hills. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) Living/dining room spacious open plan with high vaulted ceiling, living flame electric fire, TV/DVD, patio doors to garden. Kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven/grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and 1 step up to corridor. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, WC and basin.

ALNMOUTH

Alnwick 4 miles.

Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.
