“Lovely cottage in Eglingham about 15 mins drive to Alnwick , not a lot happens in the village one pub and very quiet .”

Dog walks we tended to drive for better walks away from livestock . We visited lots of National Trust properties and beaches all possible from the Cottage . Slept well, comfy beds . We had travelled a long way from the south , I did feel a welcome parcel should be left as no local shops - no soap in bathrooms or cleaning cloths which is odd just one j cloth in kitchen a small detail but should be addressed .

Hi Jon Thank you for your useful feedback. Disappointed to learn there were no liquid soaps, there should have been, likewise a couple of dishcloths. We are installing new storage cupboards in the Utility room so that in future we can supply a welcome pack to be proud of. This will be completed by the end of November. The property was very comfortable, tastefully furnished, and really well equipped. We liked the secure garden area, which is ideal for visitors with children or dogs. The location of the cottage in the quiet village of Eglingham was perfect for visiting Alnwick and exploring the Northumbrian coast.

“Staying at The Old Coach House has really made our week's holiday in Northumberland.”

Perfectly located for exploring all the many attractions and scenic wonders the area has to offer, it was spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished throughout. Whatever you need was there, right at your fingertips. Wherever we went each day, we always looked forward to coming home. Always the sign of a good rental. The only disappointment was that the weather wasn't always kind enough for us to enjoy the wonderful garden and patio. But on the occasional sunny day, sitting outside with a glass of wine or cup of tea and admiring the glorious array of plants was absolute heaven. In conclusion, we couldn't fault it. 5 stars in every respect.

“May 2026 We had a great week in this lovely house in Eglingham, near Alnwick, blessed with fine weather.”

The house was both comfortable and stylish most thoughtfully practical and beautifully designed.In addition, a restful and enclosed garden for all, humans and dogs. We enjoyed the peaceful village location which was so helpfully near to many coastal walks, lovely beaches, varied attractions of castles, N.T. properties and interesting towns and villages including dog friendly places to eat. We we would certainly love to re visit.

“A very lovely and stylish house, conveniently situated 100m from a great pub with good hearty food.”

Very comfy beds, comfy sofas, lovely enclosed garden for our dog. Great dog walks straight across the road from the house. Only minor issue was that it would have been nice to have some basics such as cooking oil, kitchen foil, bin bags, sugar etc. We had to go shopping in Alnwick on the morning after we arrived for these dull essentials. However that didn’t detract from one of the best houses we have rented for a holiday!

“What a gem!”

The cottage is wonderfully quirky, furnished and fitted with style and flair. It is very well equipped, warm and cosy so we were extremely comfortable.Even the dogs were well catered for and daily romps along miles of local beaches wore them out. We would definitely recommend this cottage to all our family and friends.

“A wonderful property with great facilities in a beautiful village.”

We were so looking forward to visiting this characterful property and it didn’t disappoint with lovingly restored features and all up to date amenities. We love Northumberland and we were well placed to visit the surrounding area. Lovely, welcoming, dog friendly pub. A well deserved 5 Stars. A Christmas Tree would have been more than welcome over the festive period but that is just our own preference.

“Magnificent old coachouse packed with history and character.”

Everything we needed for a peaceful break in a lovely old village. The coachouse has all mod cons facilities wise but maintains it's charm. When we sat enjoying the peace it really felt there was no-one around for miles. We enjoyed our visits to the local pub to meet some of the locals. Looking forward to a return visit. “I visited the Coach House with a friend as we both needed an escape.”

Lovely property, quirky decor and a very well equipped kitchen. Great location to explore this part of Northumbria. Sadly too late in the year to make use of the garden which was particularly autumnal. The visiting bird life provided lots of entertainment for us while sitting in the sun room. We would happily stay there again.

“A wonderful cottage that is very clean and comfortable.”

It has everything you need for an amazing holiday. The garden is very dog friendly. The local pub is a 5 minute walk and does great food. The cottage is very centrally located to visit all of the local tourist attractions. We will be back.

Their attention to detail and impeccable furnishings made it difficult to leave. We especially loved the nods to the property's history and county. The kitchen was equipped to a very high standard, the best we have experienced in years. The location is perfect, within an short drive of key places to visit. Although we looked forward to getting back to sit in the garden each day, listening to the evening birdsong and watching the nightly bat show.

“The Old Coach House is really lovely, Eglingham is quiet and idyllic, situated equally between the hills and countryside and the coast, making days out different and interesting.”

We loved the house, it was extremely comfortable (especially the beds, which wore the loveliest bedding). The kitchen had everything you needed and more to produce home cooked meals, it was extremely clean and well looked after. We were accompanied by our dogs, Charlie and Penny, we always worry about the garden being secure for them as Penny is tiny and can sneak through small holes, this garden was completely secure, we could relax knowing the dogs were safe. The owners, Mark and Helen, are easy to speak to if necessary, although we only wanted to contact them to tell them that we were having a good time. We would recommend this house 100% and look forward to returning at some point later in the year.

“The property is perfect, has everything needed for a relaxing stay.”

Beautiful garden which is so quiet and peaceful for chilling in the late afternoon sun after days spent out adventuring. The garden is great for dogs with full height fencing and walls surrounding the property. The house itself is lovely, maintaining many of the original features, lots of space and great touches giving it the luxurious country living vibe. The location is perfect for exploring the Northumberland National Park and the gorgeous coast, as well as plenty local walks from the doorstep. There is a lovely traditional pub just along the road that serves food and it's only a short 15 minute drive to the bustling town of Alnwick.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike; for even more excitement, the enchanted world of Lilidorei is also available at Alnwick Gardens, offering seasonal events and plenty of fun for little ones of your group. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market.
