    “Location was ideal & as portrayed but the accommodation was rundown and basic with no frills.”

    The hot tub was extra and paid for with the booking but it did not reach correct temperature for over 24 hours so although paid for 3 days hire of hot tub use was actually only one evening and early morning. Advertised as dog friendly but not even a dog drinking dish provided. We arrived at 3.35 and were informed by a male who refused to identify himself that we could use the public beach until 4pm exactly.

Heather Cottages - Grey Seal is situated on the Lindisfarne Reserves on the glorious sandy beaches of Budle Bay.. These truly unique and charming former coastguard cottages stand in one of the most idyllic and desirable locations on the Northumberland coast. Grey Seal is 1 of 5 cottages with stunning views over the dunes to Budle Bay and Lindisfarne Castle beyond. It is reached by a private road and are in a perfect location to explore the miles of sandy beaches extending north and south. The coastline here is extremely popular with walkers, birdwatchers, kite and wind surfers alike, and you are well placed for visits to Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick and Berwick. GROUND FLOOR Kitchen/dining room split level, hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, microwave. Living room with multi fuel stove, TV/DVD, French doors to garden. BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
