“A lovely stay in this spacious and attractively presented 1st & 2nd floor property.”
The owner is approachable and helpful, and his advice on directions to the property was useful, as it's a one-way system that takes a day or two to get used to. On site parking is particularly helpful in this busy, small town, though access can be a bit tight when all other parking areas adjacent are in use. We used Corbridge as a base to travel out to explore the area, and it is perfect for this purpose. There are a number of restaurants and pubs offering meals. We found the Golden Lion to be excellent food and service. The local Indian Restaurant in the market square was very good, and the owner friendly, too. The butcher just over from the flat sold excellent pies and Cornish pasties for a light lunch or picnic. Breakfast and coffee next door at the shop / cafe was excellent.
A couple of previous feedbacks have mentioned noise. Yes, the church clock chimes every 15mins and on the hour. We barely noticed it, even during the night, and generally we don't like noise! Yes, the bus stop just outside can occasionally be noisy. However, it's rare. Every Sykes property we have stayed in previously has provided a comprehensive folder, in a prominent location, with instructions, contacts and brochures giving details for using the equipment provided, heating, disposal of waste, WIFI use, where to leave bedding towels etc on leaving and any recommendations for the area. This property would benefit from such an approach as information is scattered or non existent.
The only other thing I would recommend is to consider providing anti slip mats for the showers. They could be made available in a cupboard, in case of need. We are elderly and I have balance problems. I can manage stairs fine with a banister, but I didn't feel safe in the very slippery shower that didn't have a grab handle. It's a small and inexpensive thing, but I am sure it would be a great selling point for many folk with mobility issues.
Thank you to John for his friendly assistance.
