Farne View Cottage

First off there was a mains water leak so I had to walk through this to get in and out of the property and nobody seemed bothered and considering that there’s a water shortage in these parts I found this strange and it was very annoying.

The property was nice apart from being full of flies and I couldn’t find where they were coming in. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable and there was no wood or paper for the wood burner and it did get cold at night. I have to say that the bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well, it was a lovely quiet area which I enjoyed very much.

This is my 2nd time at Farne View and it fits the bill perfectly when you are in desperate need of a relaxing break from (the madness of) work.

Great location, fab view and very comfy bed for a good night's sleep after a day of adventures. I am sure I will be back Ps. (I couldn't get the underfloor heating to come on in the bathroom. Last time it came on automatically with the heating at night - when I put the switch on as informed in cottage info... but it never came on this time.)

It's a great location with an excellent view to the coast and easy access to Seahouses, Bamburgh and Holy Island. We will certainly look to stay again in the future.

We loved our stay in this cottage.

It was very comfortable and the owner provided lots of things to make the stay more comfortable, like some tea bags and biscuits, washing up liquid and bin bags. These were appreciated. The cottage is in a good location to get around and has a lovely view from the front windows.

Excellent condition, well presented, nice touches with decor, lovely views, tranquil setting.

Farne View cottage is in a beautiful spot, with rolling fields and the Farne Islands in the distance.

Property is clean and bright. Kitchen facilities are good. Master Bedroom is large, bed is huge! Children’s room has two single beds, decorated in a fun way. We watched house martins building two nests in the top floor window frames, lovely to see. Seahouses is just down the road. Central to many locations. We even went to Edinburgh for the day!

Beautiful location.

Very comfortable beds and lovely bathroom. The kitchen would benefit from a few more mugs and bowls. It was lovely to have a wood burner, but it would have been helpful to have a supply of wood and matches available at the property. We were lucky to have amazing weather and went out on a daily basis to collect brushwood and broken branches from the roadside. A picnic bench would add to the enjoyment of the amazing view from the house. The helpline was excellent, and the staff at Chester so friendly and efficient ( we had a slight problem with the heating and a tradesman arrived first thing the next morning). Our first holiday in Northumberland- well worth the drive from Somerset. Would definitely recommend this property.

We had a wonderful stay at Farne View.

So very peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for dog owners with enclosed shared lawn, that we didn't have to share as no one else was there. 2 mins drive to Seahouses beach but our favourite beach was Bamburgh. Very comfy bed, underfloor heating in spacious bathroom. Took my own wood for woodburner, which we enjoyed each evening. I would highly recommend especially to fellow dog owners. Beautiful dry sunny weather. It was a perfect, much needed break. Thank you

This holiday cottage exceeded our expectations and we had a fabulous week exploring the North East.

The only issue we could foresee (but wasn’t really an issue for us) was that the bathroom (a very beautiful and spacious bathroom) was located downstairs and the stairs up to the bedrooms were quite steep and narrow, so something to be aware of, as this may be difficult for some older / less agile guests. The walled garden was fantastic for the dog, and with a large gate to the cottages it felt very secure for both dogs and children. We were fortunate in that most of the cottages were unoccupied for much of the week, however we did think that parking may be slightly more difficult if each cottage was occupied and each had a car parked outside. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished, more spacious than some reviews would have us believe, was warm - centrally heated, additional underfloor heating in the bathroom, plus a beautiful log stove fire in the lounge /dining area. The kitchen was so well equipped we had no problem at all preparing a 3 course Sunday Roast Lunch! A simple cleaning pack (dish cloth, bin liners, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid) plus a small welcome pack of tea/coffee/sugar/milk sachets and a few packets of biscuits were a welcome and unexpected addition. Much appreciated. Enough logs / paper / matches and firefighters were available for us to build and light 3 fires during our week long stay. It gets very dark at night, so advisable to pack a torch! Overall … A brilliant week, in a beautiful location, in a beautiful, well furnished, well equipped, very comfortable homely cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay especially enjoying the super warm bathroom!! Great location for visits to Seahouses for cruises, Bamburgh and Holy Island. One small improvement would be more saucepans as the 2 available were okay but one was without a lid! We will definitely visit again and hopefully stay in the cottage again

Gorgeous Property, and stunning bathroom.

Small living room, but didn't need it as spent most time adventuring the local area. When at the property the bath or bed are the places to be.

A well equipped cottage whish is ideally placed for visiting the main attractions of the area

Re Farne Cottage.

Elford Let’s get the cons out of the way first. There’s maybe a couple of things that need attention eg. the shower thermostat was difficult for us turn on and we were unable to adjust the temperature…and it was hot. But Farne Cottage is a lovely, clean, cosy and quirky cottage. It has a well fitted kitchen with a microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The bathroom is modern with a mega size bath and under floor heating. The beds are comfy too and the linen and towels were spotless. There were a few creaking doors but that just adds to the character of the cottage. It is quite rural but well situated for exploring beautiful Northumbria. In short, we really loved it, had a fabulous stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return and recommend it. Thank you J.& B.

Gorgeous little cottage, perfectly situated for exploring the coast and countryside.

Big double bed very good, not so the seating downstairs, which we found very uncomfortable. Nice enclosed grassy area for dog was great, as were the views across the fields. Will definitely be back.

Great size bathroom with a powerful shower & a heated towel rail.

2 of the ceiling bulbs could do with replacing so brightness is the same as the others. Currently, it's rather dark/gloomy over the bath side of the room. Good size bedrooms & the adults room has a tv & dvd player. Thoughtful provisions throughout for those with small children, although that didn't apply to us. Perhaps if the 2nd bedroom wasn't wholly designed for young children, it would be beneficial to other ages/adults? Kitchen is galley shaped but well equipped. The lounge was probably the least comfortable room for us as due to space available. Obviously this is a cottage (hence cosy) but the permanent bench seating makes furnishings inflexible I guess. The 2-seater sofa wasn't particularly comfortable for a cosy evening in & if 2 people are wanting to watch tv together, it wouldn't be possible to also sit around the fire. Nice open views but not really possible to sit outside comfortably. There's a stone bench outside this cottage but one has to park somewhere, especially considering other cottage guests so your own vehicle is in the way of this bench. This equally blocks some light/view coming into the lounge area but no other option I guess. Worth noting that the home owners at the end of the terrace prefer the gate to be kept closed. This could prove tricky for elderly/less strong persons as it drags over the concrete so you have to physically lift it up. The main negative for us was the cleanliness - hairs (I assume dog) on the fresh duvet when we first arrived; not thoroughly vacuumed or washed hard floors (I wiped some water off the bathroom floor after a shower & the cloth was black so I kept washing!). So I think some heavy-duty vacuuming is needed on change-over, especially to remove all the dog hairs from previous guests (we did not bring a dog).Then thorough washing, especially the bathroom. Plenty of spiders & cob-webs so the cleaning team need to look up & use the suitable device on the vacuum. When we first opened the door, I counted 5 spiders around where we would hang our coats. I don't wish to put on my hat/coat, worrying there's possibly a spider got in them. Similarly, a lot of dust on surfaces in the adults room so not much thorough dusting it seems.

Farne Cottage is very comfortable, we enjoyed our stay.

Just two things: The kitchen tap was very wobbly, we used it gingerly. The details said that there would be a some wood for the wood burner, there was none, a shame as it was cold and would have been nice. I reported both these points to the agent.

Excellent facilties with condition of cottage also excellent.

Thoughtful touches with welcoming pack and even hot water bottles were provided. Really comfortable and homely. Would recommend a stay here for anyone wishing to relax and chill out.

Lovely to find a dog friendly cottage that is furnished & equipped to such a high standard.

Set in peaceful surroundings and within easy reach of beautiful sandy beaches with plenty of places to eat & drink where dogs are very welcome. We look forward to returning soon!

Lovely cottage in an ideal location to explore Northumberland.

Spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. But also felt homely and so peaceful.

We had a very relaxing time.

The cottage is lovely with everything we needed and so quiet as we had no neighbours. Loved the view over the fields. It was our first visit to Northumberland so it was good to get to know this part of the country and we clearly have to do a lot more. The cottage is a great base for some of the best attractions in the area and beyond.

Loved watching the house martins each day. A visit to all the usual places- Bamburgh, Craster, Alnwick, Lindisfarne & Howick Gardens & Arboretum, which was really excellent- highly recommend. They also do a great cream tea! Thank you for everything!

Great walk to Bamburgh and back along the beach with an ice cream in Seahouses. Today's visit to Dunstanburgh Castle was fascinating and topped off nicely by a trip to Barter Books in Alnwick. It's a long way to Northumberland from mid - Devon but definitely worth the trip!

Perfect location! We have enjoyed a day in Seahouses & Dougie (the dog) enjoyed his run on Bamburgh beach. We enjoyed a walk around Bamburgh Castle and our highlight was a trip to Holy Island with the sun shining! Our first trip to Northumberland but definitely not our last. we'd love to visit Cragside House.

Beautiful little cottage in a perfect location.

The walk down to Seahouses is a great little shortcut. The Black Swan does amazing food and the Schooner is a great drinking pub.

Lovely area, enjoyed the beautiful beaches and visiting castles. First time visiting Northumberland but will definitely be back. The dog is shattered and would be glad to get home for a rest! everything was great & just what I needed.

this was our second visit and we are already planning our next one. The peace & tranquility are a balm for the soul. Thank you so much! We have spent hours on St Aidan's beach with Hector our 4 year old retriever, he knows each & every rock pool! We re-visited Bamburgh, the castle & the RNLI Museum. We had delicious fish & Chips in Seahouses, went to Beadnell, Holy Island, Craster & Alnwick. Of course another visit to Barter Books in Alnwick! Bit of parking advice - buy a Northumberland parking disc (£1) and is used in certain carparks you can have free parking up to the time limit displayed - great money saver ! cant wait to come back in March

We loved Farne View Cottage and only wish we had longer to enjoy it!

Dinner at Elan in Seahouses on our first evening very good. Then our only full day yesterday spent on Billy Shiels boat trip and then a run up through Bamburgh to to get ourselves stranded on Holy Island for the evening (planned)
