The property

Driftwood is a superbly positioned beachside property, just moments from the expansive sands of Embleton Bay, with far-reaching views towards Dunstanburgh Castle, all set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Its enviable location along this striking stretch of heritage coastline makes it an excellent choice for families or friends seeking a mix of beach days, sightseeing, and outdoor pursuits. Inside, the kitchen is well equipped for everything from light seaside lunches to hearty evening meals.

A practical utility room just off the kitchen includes a washing machine and tumble dryer—ideal for managing sandy clothes after a day by the sea.

There’s also a boot room with direct outdoor access, offering ample space for footwear and coats. At the heart of the home is a spacious living/dining room, where guests can come together for meals or relax in front of the woodburning stove—especially welcome after a bracing walk along the coast.

To the rear, a large enclosed lawned garden provides a safe space for children and pets, while picnic benches at the front and back offer sunny spots for breakfast or evening drinks in the sea air. Whether you're planning a full family holiday or a relaxed weekend with friends, Driftwood offers a welcoming base for exploring this beautiful part of the Northumberland coast. When it’s time to rest, choose from three well-appointed bedrooms: a king-size room with stunning views of Dunstanburgh Castle, a spacious twin, and a bunk room—also with castle views.

All are decorated in calming coastal tones to encourage a restful night’s sleep. The property includes two sleek bathrooms: one upstairs with a bath and large walk-in shower, and another on the ground floor with a walk-in shower—both fitted with Villeroy & Boch sanitary ware and heated towel rails.

An enclosed driveway provides parking for up to three cars, and two well-behaved dogs are welcome. There’s plenty to discover nearby.

Visit the iconic Dunstanburgh Castle, visible from the cottage and just a short walk away, or explore Bamburgh Castle with its dramatic medieval architecture and sweeping beach views.

Alnwick Castle, known for its role in the Harry Potter films, and the beautifully landscaped Alnwick Garden are also within easy reach. In the traditional fishing village of Craster, enjoy a stroll around the harbour or embark on a wildlife-spotting trip with Billy Shiel’s Boat Trips to the Farne Islands.

A little further afield, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne offers a unique day out, with its historic priory and tidal causeway.

For a deeper insight into local heritage, the RNLI Grace Darling Museum provides a fascinating look at one of Northumberland’s most celebrated figures. Whether your Northumberland escape involves historic landmarks, coastal walks, or simply enjoying the sea breeze, Driftwood is a well-located and comfortable base to return to.
