“The pre-clean for our stay was acceptable but the kitchen and bathroom would benefit from a more thorough clean e.”

G. just under the cupboards in the kitchen is filthy, not easily seen by everyone but I'm petite and could see clearly the need for a blitz. The basin was very clean in the bowl and taps but outside the bowl and the pedestal were not. The window sills were a bit webby and dusty. Sorry, we love this property but you did ask!

“We've been going twice, sometimes 3 times a year to Links View for the last 16 years at the same time.”

Indeed, NCCC, your predecessors, used to contact us regarding said bookings if we hadn't contacted them. Imagine our disappointment when in attempting to book for next year our 13th May booking, you'd let it go, not mindful of our history. You don't care enough about individuals and that's why you only got a 5. L.A.Steel.

“We arrived at 4pm as required to find that there was NO heating on in the property - it was 6.”

6 degrees in the property which is totally unacceptable on a winters evening. It took hours to get the place warmed up and we should not have had to sit in our coats in the meantime. I find it hard to believe that nobody could have popped in a couple of hours before our arrival and switched on the various heaters. That aside, once the cottage was heated, it was lovely and we had a lovely break.

We always try to ensure that our guests arrive to a warm cottage. I am so sorry that this was not the case for you. Thank you for letting us know. Our housekeeper had been in to check that the cottage was ‘guest ready’ and to switch on the heating earlier in the day, but fears that she must not have adjusted the thermostat correctly on this occasion. “This is a fabulous property in a fabulous position.”

Owners have gone to a lot of effort to keep a high standard of decoration, & with many lovely small details, throughout the accommodation. The description of the Links View property as "top quality" is accurate unlike some of the other properties in this area that we have had the misfortune to stay in where the reality falls way short of their description. This experience of properties ranging from really lovely (like LinksView) to not at all lovely but with similar descriptions on the NCC website makes it very difficult to chose holiday properties & even to trust the listings. We love Links View & thank the owners for taking such trouble to keep their property up to this standard.

House keeper and owner both informed. More disappointed to see however that the cost of the same seven night holiday stay has increased by over 20% for 2024.

The property

Links View is an attractive, architect designed, property with superb panoramic views from its windows and balcony. To the south towards are the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and to the north is Beadnell and Bamburgh Castle. A field in front runs down to the links golf course and beautiful sandy beach and bay. The property is furnished and equipped to a high standard. ACCOMMODATION OVER SPLIT LEVEL Living/dining room large open plan with high vaulted pine ceiling, TV/DVD, CD stereo and patio windows leading onto balcony with table and chairs overlooking the sea. Kitchen area with electric cooker, hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. Steps down to bathroom. Bathroom with bath, separate shower, WC and basin. Steps down to bedroom 1. Bedroom 1 with double bed and sea views. Bedroom 2 with single bed and pull out bed with door to patio beneath balcony. Bedroom 3 with single bed. Craster 3 miles; Beadnell 4 miles; Alnwick 7 miles.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.
