    “Beautiful and clean .”

Everything you need for a relaxing holiday.Really good layout of the lodge you will not be disappointed . A lot of thought has been put into the lodge to make the holiday as comfortable as possible. A lovely hamper on arrival . It is one of the best lodges we have stayed in and would defiantly stay there again. It is very close to the Castle, Seahouses and the beach Will be recommending to family and friends.

The property

Tucked away and set at the foot of a former Whinstone Quarry, on the outskirts of Bamburgh is the delightful lodge Wood Sage. This heart-warming retreat is an idyllic base for families seeking to explore all the delights of this seaside location, as well as the surrounding Northumberland Coast Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Be welcomed into the spacious and contemporary interior design with quality furnishings to ensure a charming base to return to each evening. Enter into the sitting room which features a delightful woodburning stove to keep the room nice and toasty during those chillier months. Cosy up on the plush sofas and indulge in the TV to while away the hours with a refreshing drink as you wind down from a long day exploring. Towards the rear of the cottage is a kitchen/diner which comes with all the essentials to whip up a home-cooked meal for the whole family to enjoy. The charm continues with three ground-floor bedrooms, set up as two king-sizes and a twin; the master bedroom benefits from its own en-suite shower room so you can get ready in your own leisure of a morning. The interior is completed by a well-presented shower room, complete with a double walk-in shower and all quality fittings. To the outside, you will find a quaint garden area to the rear which isn't overlooked and is perfect for some quiet time to read a good book and watch the sunrise. Look forward to dining alfresco during the summer months in the front garden with delightful rattan furniture to cosy up on. This Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, a real haven for birdwatchers and photographers to snap shots of the picturesque coastline. Set on the outskirts of the seaside village of Bamburgh, you are well-placed amidst a peaceful and tranquil spot and within driving distance of a variety of local attractions. Resting in an elevated position, the Grade II listed Bamburgh Castle is an excellent sightseeing opportunity to explore this Norman structure which holds a wealth of history. Bamburgh Beach is within reach where you can enjoy a day trip to the coast and get involved with some watersporting activities, such as surfing, windsurfing and kayaking, as well as rock pooling or swimming. The neighbouring village of Seahouses comes with a delightful fishing harbour and you can take boat trips across to The Farne Islands. Further afield is the charming market town of Alnwick which boasts Alnwick Castle as one of its best attractions. This castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and it was used as a filming location for the Harry Potter films and Downtown Abbey. Wood Sage is the ultimate choice for a week long break near the coast of Northumberland.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Please note: You will need to request a high chair or travel cot prior to your arrival.
