The Coach House

No hand towels for sinks.

No wardrobes so couldn’t hang anything up. Needs additional airer, when washing for 6 people. Needs a tumble dryer. No washing basket. Lack of basic utensils ( no holey spoon) when home cooking. No full length mirrors for dressing. Could do with a lower shower hose for the kids and rinsing showers. Broken door shelf in fridge and handles on drawers in bedrooms. Some of the toilet seat hinges are broken in 2 toilets. Some of the dining chairs were very rickety. Loads of cobwebs especially in main bedroom and lots of spiders. This was a nice place to stay and we would recommend it, but if these issues were addressed it would turn it from a good stay to a great stay. On a positive note the beds were very comfortable, and each bedroom had an en-suite! Plenty of comfortable sofas too.

We've just returned from a 1 week stay here at the coach house & our first impressions we were not disappointed you can see just how much hard work has gone into re-furbishing this property & its interior design is beautiful .

..cosy ...very comfortable beds! Just what we needed after our days out adventuring & exploring in Northumberland ..the coach house had everything we needed for our break including extra toiletries should we run out in a basket in the main bathroom! Extremely kind

We are a family of 5 plus our dog and have just returned from a fabulous stay at The Coach House.

The accommodation is beautifully renovated and equipped with everything you could need. It is in a beautiful setting with countryside views and surrounded by horses, which made the holiday extra special for our horse loving daughters. There is plenty to do in the area to keep the whole family entertained , from shopping trips to the Metrocentre, exploring Hadrian’s wall and the Roman forts, pottering around the pretty towns of Corbridge and Hexham to driving up the coast to discover the stunning beaches and see some puffins and seals. Camilla was a very responsive and friendly host who really went out of her way to make our holiday special. Thank you, we would love to come again one day !

The coach house has been tastefully renovated.

Giving a large comfortable ground floor with adequate seating and a very well proportioned kitchen with an added bonus of a separate utility room with a downstairs toilet All three bedrooms have been designed with an en-suite and are again well proportioned On our arrival we were greeted with a gift. The host Camilla was helpful and friendly if anything was required. The location had fantastic views of the country side offer plenty of available walks. I would recommend this location and coach house

Breathtaking views in a beautiful area.

Situated on a working farm deep in the Northumbrian countryside. However, its siting proved a problem to out satnav and time was wasted driving round in circles and opening farm gates. Great accommodation, warm and plenty of space, bathrooms very clean. But, we found used cooking trays that should have been binned. Just a few tweaks, such as clearer directions, tidying up of the courtyard and replace those cooking utensils, and the coach house would be a 5 star.

We stayed at the coach house in June this year (2026).

It was exactly as advertised and we were very impressed. I would definitely stay here again.

The accommodation had everything we needed.

All bedrooms had en-suite and it had a nice relaxing living room/ kitchen area with enough seating for everyone. It was very quiet and peaceful but had some good village pubs near by. About six miles to corbridge.

The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend.

It was beautifully presented and the beds were very comfy!

A beautiful barn conversation in a fantastic location.

The Coach House is spacious, beautifully decorated and served as a great base for weekend adventures. It is equipped with everything you could need. The boot room was very useful after dog walks and the open planned downstairs made for easy socialising with family. Would definitely recommend.

Accommodation, location, walks around the farm and local area all 100%, hope to return in future.

Spacious, comfortable, plenty of sofas, good kitchen and lovely showers.

The underfloor heating was great. We enjoyed walks from the door on well-marked paths. We had two young children with us and they had lots of space to play indoors but the outside space was limited with being on a working farm. A few of the dining chairs needed fixing. Overall we would highly recommend the property and would go again.

Beautifully renovated farm building with timeless decor and modern amenities.

Our family enjoyed the space and catering we were able to provide. The remote setting added to the charm. We would absolutely return to this property.

The cottage was absolutely amazing in a beautiful location.

The owners were fantastic and we enjoyed meeting their pony 'piglet'. We had an amazing time.

Great accommodation, lovely location and very comfortable.

Only observation was the very small fridge and minute freezer if catering for 6 people. Maybe consider a big fridge freezer in the utility room. (Had to stick the door shelf back on with some duck tape as found it broken and in a cupboard on arrival).

The Coach House is a gorgeous spacious property on a farm and set in stunning countryside.

Perfect for walking with my dog from the door. Highly recommend.

The cottage is spacious, warm and comfortable, very welcoming after our days on Hadrian's wall.

We enjoyed the apples and pears left by the owner from local trees. We had noted the limited size of the fridge/freezer in a previous review and found shopping in Corbridge and Hexham was no problem. We enjoyed visits to Wallington and Hexham Abbey and to several Roman sites of which Vindolanda was the highlight. The local Queen's Head pub (open Thu-Sun) was fully booked when we tried to get a meal so went to the Black Bull in Corbridge which was very acceptable.

We had a great week at The Coach House.

We were a party of six adults, one toddler and two dogs and it was perfect for our needs. We loved the peaceful location. Lovely hikes from the doorstep. Easy 20 mins walk to pub at Gt Whittington for example. House was spotlessly clean on arrival . The owner was very welcoming and on hand to answer any questions. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay in this glorious part of the country.

The Coach House has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

There is plenty of space, it is well equipped, very peaceful and was very clean. It is close to Corbridge & Hexham and there are many historic places to visit nearby. Thank you Camilla for making our stay enjoyable.

A good size for a family of five with great, open plan kitchen, dining and snug space. Very clean, warm with everything you need for a holiday stay (we stayed for four nights). Thank you Camilla and family.

The coach house itself was beautiful, a little difficult to find in the dark but the layout, large airy rooms and furnishings were really lovely.

There is just so much space! The kitchen is great, stacks of cupboard space (teeny fridge though!) a lovely bright social space with a huge table to gather round and plenty of seating in the lounge. Wine and chocolates kindly left as a welcoming gift. Our only disappointments -and they are only little things, were finding the last guests recycling in the bins and only one full soap dispenser in the whole property which was very watered down. We also had to buy a cheap iron whilst we were there as the one left was covered in black and worked erratically (there was also no ironing board) the only hanging space for clothes is just a few hangers for the back of the doors but there is plenty of drawer space. The basket of other people’s three quarter used leftover products in the bathroom including a used body puff was rather off putting! I would rather have paid an extra £20 for a few new mini toiletry basics and some milk in the fridge! The bathrooms though with their large showers are exceptionally nice. It’s also a bit weird being asked to strip beds when you pay a cleaning charge but in doing so, we did find that the (very comfy) pillows could do with pillow protectors. All in all it was lovely, my dog behaved himself and made friends with the gorgeous horses down the track and only barked if someone appeared in the shared access courtyard -which was very rarely. We realised when we got there that he wasn’t allowed upstairs but there is currently no way of policing that without a stairgate. It’s a beautiful area of Northumberland which we know well and staying here made the sad occasion that we came up for a little less stressful.

A very comfortable, clean and spacious accommodation.

It was quiet and relaxing. There was everything we needed. We all enjoyed our stay.

This was a lovely property situated in a very nice area, owner was very helpful and friendly letting my grandchildren feed and groom the horses.

Lovely location.

Welcoming hosts. The Coach House is a lovely modern conversion. Plenty of space to meet friends and family. Well equipped for this type of visit (good cooking equipment, plenty glasses and plates etc). We have Labrador’s if coming with dogs the only immediate outdoor space is a courtyard (no grass). Did not impact our stay in anyway. Lots of quiet lanes, footpaths and breathtaking views. Highly recommend and we will be back if we find ourselves back at Belsay.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful property with our family (my wife, our two sons, and my parents) – and we all absolutely loved it.

The house was incredibly well-equipped, much more so than many others we’ve stayed in. Small touches like having salt, pepper, a cafetiere and local hand poured soap ready to use made a real difference and showed great attention to detail. All of the rooms were spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the showers were powerful and roomy – everything felt high quality and well thought out. The sofas were also lovely and comfortable, with plenty of space for all of us to relax together in the evenings. Our dogs were right at home too – they loved curling up in their beds by the big windows overlooking the peaceful courtyard. Morning dog walks were made extra special by the horses grazing nearby, and the whole location felt wonderfully quiet and rural, yet still close to Corbridge and Hexham. Camilla, the owner, was absolutely lovely – really friendly, easily contactable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. That personal touch made it all feel even more welcoming. One highlight of our trip was an evening at the Twice Brewed Inn, where we did their Stars & Supper stargazing experience – absolutely brilliant. Coming back to a warm, luxurious home with the underfloor heating on was the perfect end to the day. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back. A real gem of a place.

Incredibly comfortable, fabulous place with everything you might need or want done to a very high standard.

Beautifully thought out and very hard to leave. Comfortable beds, wonderful kitchen, great sitting room, useful spaces and wonderful walks. It deserves every 5 star rating.

Our stay was a three generation family New Year’s break, including two small dogs, and we chose this cottage because of the three en-suite bedrooms.

The road to the property is a single track road, not in great condition and once on the farm there is no sign for the Coach House, just look for the porch and blue door. Inside we were initially delighted with our choice. There was ample comfortable seating for six adults in the lounge area, often not the case, and in the dining area. Everything was obviously quite new, including of course, the kitchen, but some of the utensils seemed to be cobbled together and some not particularly clean. Our biggest bugbear, however, was the size of the fridge and the absence of freezer. The is an integrated under counter fridge which in itself is far too small to accommodate 6 people but it also houses the very small freezer box. Given the remoteness of the property we had taken both fresh and frozen food with us, a lot of which ended up ruined. There is plenty of room, including a large utility room, to house a larger fridge freezer. As others have mentioned, privacy is still an issue and I would agree that outside space will be a problem in better weather, especially if you were eating outside as people walking in and out with their dogs, seeing to the horses, etc. The bedrooms were comfortable and the en-suites lovely. All in all, the property requires a little more attention to detail, and the privacy addressed.

The Coach House was perfect for our needs.

It was very clean, the beds were lovely and comfortable and as a family of six adults, having an en suite to each bedroom was a plus. Downstairs had plenty of room with a very well equipped kitchen. We would definitely recommend it to other guests. Thank you Camilla

The Coach House is a stunning property.

It’s so spacious , stylish and very clean. The beds are really comfortable with crisp white cotton bedding and large fluffy towels are provided. We would highly recommend anybody to stay there.

Comfortable, clean, warm and very spacious. The bottle of fizz, chocolates and doggy treats was a nice touch. There were plenty of toiletries in the en-suites and downstairs. A lovely barn conversion in a quiet, relaxed farm setting.

The location was ideal for our visits to Hadrian`s Wall and the Roman Forts. The presence of well behaved dogs and horses added to the experience. The Queen`s Head in Great Whittington was a nice bonus. Excellent food and drink.

We were very fortunate to come across The Coach House when trying to sort a very last minute trip away.

A lovely property in a fabulous location. The property was very clean and comfortable. We especially liked the very powerful showers! Unfortunately we didn't have long enough to explore the immediate area but would definitely return and recommend this cottage to others.

It was easy to park right outside the door, and inside the cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and welcoming, with a lovely ensuite for each of the bedrooms. The location was excellent for visiting Hadrian's Wall and other parts of the beautiful Northumberland countryside. Thank you Camilla!

Very nice, recently completed barn conversion within a group of other farm buildings.

Large and spacious open-plan living area with well-equipped kitchen and lots of space for everyone. Three excellent en-suite bedrooms. Warm and cosy with underfloor heating downstairs. Short drive, or walk across fields, to Great Whittington where the Queens Head served good food Thurs-Sun. Lots of interesting historical sites nearby. As noted in the property description, there is a shared outside courtyard area but no private outside space - had the weather been better we might have missed having a garden.

The Coach House is a beautiful property located in an excellent location.

It was extremely clean, fresh, and well presented. Camilla was so kind to accommodate us at very short notice and was really welcoming and helpful. We had a fantastic 4 night stay and would highly recommend the coach house to anyone considering staying there. We hope to visit again in the future!
