“We had a great week at Coquet, my daughter and husband stayed in Wansbeck next door.”
The enclosed gardens were brilliant for the dogs. The views from there were stunning. The accommodation was very clean and the bed was so, so comfortable and a welcome bottle of wine was there for us on arrival.
House martins were very busy and and great to see amongst plenty of other birds including goldfinches. There were sheep and lambs close by and could be seen and heard from the very secure exercise field. My dog thought he was in heaven because he could run free in there (his recall is absolute rubbish) and I enjoyed seeing him.
The village of Longframlington is pretty with a pub, grocers and bakery all are friendly and the butcher's shop, has extremely tasty steaks, reasonably priced and I took some home for the freezer.
Places along the coast are easy to get to and within thirty or so minutes. Morpeth was a good place to visit, a busy town.
We would have like to visit more places, but make sure if you have dogs that they are welcome an example was Alnwick Castle and the Gardens.
I have only a few gripes with the lodge and they are that I would've liked some decent cutlery, a couple of larger pans and maybe a casserole dish. Oh and a can opener that works. I managed for two of us, but a family might struggle. None of these points spoilt the holiday - just some suggestions.
