Brillant cottage beautiful views.

Would highly recommend it to family and friends.

This is the second time we've stayed at this cottage .

We love it and the area. There are lots of little touches that made our stay a bit special. The dogs loved it, too. My only criticism is that the large sofa in the lounge has had its best, as the seats have lost their support. Apart from that everything is great. The updated bathroom is 1st class.

Outstanding modern accommodation with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Fully equipped kitchen the owner even replaced a faulty coffee machine the next day. Located close to the sea with a view of Coquet island and near a nature reserve fantastic for bird watching it’s ideally located within walking distance of Amble. We have booked to stay there next year it was so good.

There was everything we needed, we felt very welcome, there was a very nice tray full of lovely treats and the essentials to make a drink when we arrived. The home was very comfortable and warm. The views from the lounge are stunning.

Very comfortable, well appointed cottage in a great location for country and coastal walks.

Amble is a great little town well supplied with shops, cafes, pubs and the superb restaurant "The Fish Shack". Amble is in walking distance (2m, shorter going across the fields) but you need good torches at night as there isn't street lighting all the way

This was the best bungalow we have stayed in.

Everything you needed was supplied. Very comfortable and was greeted with a lovely welcome pack. Beautifully situated and would definitely stay again if we are up in that area. Would recommend 100%

Beautiful,clean bungalow,lovely place.

You are allowed to take dogs, but I think they are tolerated, not liked. To get round to path to walk the dogs, or walk to beach,you have to walk full way along road, round corner and full way up the road,the owners have a gate to the lane, but you cannot use it . A little disappointing, but we managed. Great welcome basket, thankyou. We would have liked to meet the owner, but we did not see her,which would havebeen nice, but hey ho! Had a good time, 5th time we have been here to Hawksley,we love it.

Lovely comfortable bungalow with all facilities needed for a relaxing holiday in a picturesque area.

Ideally situated for walks to Amble, Low Hauxley and beaches.

Good place to stay and explore the surrounding area.

We had a great stay at Island View, lovely welcome with the cakes & things, everything really clean & comfortable.

The position was perfect for us, nice & quiet but within easy walking distance of Amble. Walk down to the beach was perfect for Doug the dog. The parking was a little challenging with my rather large car but after a couple of days the reversing out became easier. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been better seating in the back garden as the view from there is so beautiful, but it didn't stop us giving 5 stars.

A wonderful home from home holiday cottage.

Extremely clean and comfortable with everything you could want provided. The bungalow is in an amazing position close to the beach and facilities. A special thank you to the owners for allowing our young puppy to stay and and experience his first holiday. I would highly recommend Island View, we had a great time.

This was up to now the best holiday home we lived in and we do travel a lot!

The place was very clean, nicely decorated and thoroughly cared for. Kitchen missed nothing, even exceeded espectations! The owners are very friendly people and are always there to help but leave you to your rest if no help is needed. Welcome tray was very plenty and delicious. Thank you so much!

I have though long and hard about writing a review on this property because it is the first time that I have mentioned something that may be taken as negative.

Pros, location, village, cleanliness,facilities, welcome pack views, when standing up all fantastic. Cons, read very carefully previous comments about access and parking and access to the rear garden. If you are a dog owner the first thing you see in the hall is a notice that says dogs should be exercised outside the garden then no dogs in bedrooms or on furniture ( fair enough for the last two ) I would describe it as dog tolerant rather than dog friendly We knew the owners lived next door and we have stayed in hundreds of similar properties over the last 55 years and the owners have always given us an hour or so before introducing themselves but there was absolutely no contact from the owners which made us feel uncomfortable. I know that they will read this so please just say hello to your guests. I am looking forward to the owners response.

This property is possibly the nicest place we have stayed , the owners thought of every single thing to make the stay as amazing as possible , the welcome basket was so kind and clearly thought about , so many lovely essentials and treats as well, the milk and butter in the fridge was a lovely touch and all the teas and coffee choices as well, the place itself, so clean , so homely and the views from the lounge , just wow !

!!! I have worked in hospitality for many many years and could not fault this place at all. Don't hesitate , book it and with the beach being only a ten minute walk from the cottage , perfect just perfect , thank you for one of the best breaks we have had , we will be back xxxx

Great place beach is 10 mins walk, town 20 mins!

The whole place is clean tidy and comfortable and very nice to stay in as everyone says the welcome pack is awesome!!

Island View Cottage is one of the best located cottages we have stayed at.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at how spacious it was. The photos don’t do justice to this property. Plenty of walks straight from the house and wonderful views. The cottage itself is homely , spotlessly clean, comfortable and equipped with good quality items. Lots of attention to detail and there was nothing we couldn’t find or needed. We would definitely like to stay again. The hosts were great and could not have done more to help us enjoy our stay.

We had a really nice stay in November.

The property was clean and well equipped and the owners made every effort to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The cottage is well located for day trips in the area, whether up the coast, down to Newcastle or over to Hadrian's Wall. The views from the cottage over to Coquet Island and further up the coast are wonderful in any weather.

Honestly the best holiday cottage I’ve stayed at and there’s been a few, it was spotless clean and comfortable and the view was fantastic, easy walk to the beach and circular walks with the dog, short drive to the town of Amble were you can everything you need, and the welcome pack was lovely, would recommend it and would love to visit again

What a beautiful bungalow !

Very clean, spacious and well equipped. Exceptional welcome pack which lasted all week. The property is ideally situated to explore all of Northumberland and the gorgeous coastal area of nearby Amble. Fabulous views of the coast from the property and lovely walks across the fields to the beach with the dogs. Morrisons supermarket 5 mins by car and nearby Amble Inn about a 20 minute walk away. Amble Sunday market is a must plus a boat trip via Puffin cruises to Coquet Island. Only negative is the picture on the TV possibly needs attention. We loved our time at Island View Cottage and will return !

Cottage is just fab.

Really clean, everything you might need, great access down to the beach through the field. Great proximity to Hauxley Wildlife Centre, to Amble, Warkworth, Alnmouth, Alnwick etc. Parking is a bit tricky for us as we have two cars. Seems to have got more difficult since we first came. But not a major issue.

We loved our stay in your cottage.

The kitchen was very spacious with all that we needed during our holiday. The lounge and dining area are very comfortable. The bedrooms are nicely decorated with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The views from the cottage are great, especially watching the birds and the view of Coquet Island. We were lucky to watch the swallows feeding their young in the nest built at the rear of the cottage.

Very comfortable stay, welcome pack was very nice and much appreciated.

Bungalow was clean and well equipped. Is based in a quiet cul de sac with good views from the rear of the bungalow of the local Coquet island. There is a beach near by which was very quiet and plenty of space, can be walked to but maybe not with young children or anyone with walking difficulties.

This property exceeded our expectations.

The photos on the website do not do this cottage justice. The view also is just stunning and the fact you can walk from the cottage to the beach is the icing on the cake! Kitchen is incredibly well equipped and the welcome pack superb!

Very nice cottage with a lovely view; fully equipped and very clean.

The only negative was we didn't find the sofa and mattresses very comfortable, but that may just be us. All in all a very enjoyable stay, thank you.

A very welcoming, clean, comfortable, relaxing and well situated property with a very good view of Coquet Island from the lounge window.

The comprehensive welcome package, including milk in the fridge was the best we have found so far in a holiday cottage. Off road parking a real bonus. A first class property that is a credit to the owners.

The property was clean and very well equipped.

In a lovely spot. The property owner had made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. However we came across a severe problem for us older people. We are both well over 80. Consequently the low suit in the lounge created problems for both of us. Don’t let this detract from a normal family enjoying their stay. The problem was ours, not the owners.

An excellent house.

Very clean, and had everything and more. It's nice when you go in holiday and arrive to find your accomodation is just like home. Would highly recommend.

Welcome pack appreciated. Only problems we had were the lack of direct access to the enclosed rear garden. Also difficulty getting out of the parking space.

Lovely holiday home, a credit to the owners.

Very cosy and comfortable. Everything clean and tidy, plenty of towels. Great, peaceful location, lovely walks on the beach, 10 min walk away. Looking forward to returning when the weather improves.

We had a lovely stay the cottage was spotless and the views were amazing.

Just for us the double bed was too small so we used one of the other rooms. There was also quite a bit of staining in the worktops. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were lovely touches like the welcome pack, treats for the dogs and even an Easter egg.

Our second time at this cottage and as before it was like staying in a home away from home.

The cottage is warm and cosy and very comfortable. What is particularly impressive is the evident thought that the owners have put into making the cottage as welcoming as possible. The welcome pack on arrival was truly impressive! The cottage worked well for all of our party, ourselves, our one year old grandchild and our border collie Tess. We watched deer in the field out of the living room window as well as the drama of all the different birdlife which was a constant joy. This is a lovely cottage that I would recommend to anyone.

Overall we were very happy with our stay at Island View Cottage.

The only criticism was the TV could do with an update, the picture quality was poor and it wouldn’t interact with other items ie Bose headphones. Also the bath could do with a proper plug! However the views from the cottage are amazing and the Welcome Pack was the best ever.

The bungalow is beautiful, so clean and comfortable.

I do have a few issues I would like to raise though. The fact the owners home is next door is conveniently missing from the information listed,until the full payment has been made, and when I say next door, you could throw a stone from the rental house window into their window, it's a shared drive . There is no direct access to the back garden from the bungalow, you have to go out the side door, down the side of the garage and into the garden that way, which made it very awkward for our dog , the front garden is not secure at all so although you can get to it from the front door, it is again unsuitable and there was no mention of this on the description on sykes page. One of the reasons we choose Northumberland was to take advantage of the dark sky and do some star gazing, however as the owners house was in such close proximity and like I mentioned, to get to the back garden you had to walk right past one of the bedrooms on owners house, across a noisy gravel path, we felt it was unfair to be doing this and it would have meant leaving our dog locked in the house while we went outside. Lastly the photographs on the website are done very cleverly to make the gardens look much bigger than they actually are, and I feel this is also misleading. The property is very nicely furnished and spotlessly clean ,but had all the information I have mentioned been available I would not have chosen it and I feel sykes need to be clearer in the description

A well presented bungalow equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Beautiful part of the country and well worth travelling yp from the South Coast

Our stay was absolutely brilliant.

The weather was great all week. The property was lovely. Sitting out in the gardens especially the back garden was great. It would be nice if a gate or opening was at side of property so you don't have to go out of front gate & walk around your car to get to back garden. Back gate was also broken. Views where fantastic. The welcome pack was well received by part of the party as the other person has intolerance to certain food. In the listing it is stated that there is parking for 1 car. It doesn't say that the car has to be a small car. I drive a pickup, mainly due to the job that I do in the NHS. I had to reverse vehicle every time we went out, which was every day. The lane is narrow & has obstacles all the way down (parked cars, scaffolding, bins) We came back to property to find the owner had mowed the lawns/pruning bushes, leaving behind a cord-less trimmer in the back garden. It could have caused injury to 1 of our dogs. Apart from these few little issues we had an amazing stay in Island View Cottage. We both would love to come back with our dogs.

Really enjoyed our week in Northumberland and Island View proved to be an ideal base for exploring the area.

Cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped with the beach just a 10 minute stroll away. Have to mention the welcome pack which was excellent and much appreciated!

This cottage is a hidden gem.

There are fantastic views from the back of the property, which we feel the owners could make more of by having some seating there. The location is really great for getting about with other attractions easily reached and nearby. It was restful and peaceful. The welcome pack was tremendous with so many treats and some for our dog too. We had a wonderful time, thank you

I stayed at Island View for a week with my dog.

The cottage was always lovely and cosy and comfortable, with a fantastic welcome pack provided. It’s in a great location, very quiet with views over the fields - and their flocks of curlew and geese - to the dunes and coquet island beyond, but also just a short walk into Amble if you feel the need. The cottage is at the end of a cul-de-sac and there is no street lighting right outside (there are some further down the street, this isn’t a negative!) so if you get some clear nights its perfect for stargazing. The property is really well equipped, with all the things you’d want in the kitchen for holiday cooking. The beach which runs for miles down druridge bay is stunning, and just a short walk over the fields to get there. Unbelievably for February, the weather was so lovely on two mornings I was able to sit outside in the garden and catch the sun - bliss!

Provided all we needed and would happily return in the future.

Highly recommend to all who want a quiet but well located cottage. Superb welcome pack.

, Strange to have a holiday in November but we love this cottage and love its position , massive thank you to the owners who kept the cottage warm and cosy. Great to have a sea vies and walks from the cottage to the beach are lovely. So much wildlife. we even had three deer come to investigate. I really shouldn't give this cottage a good review as it may get booked up when we want it :-) . We are seasoned 'cottage users' and have to say this is one of the best for our needs. Island View cottage is a lovely place to stay.

The cottage itself is well provisioned with all you need for a comfortable holiday. The welcome pack was outstanding and comprehensive with even something for our dog Tess. The furnishings were comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, our six week old granddaughter was very taken by the patterns on the curtains! The cottage is conveniently located for the beach which is great when you don't want to be driving too far with an infant. Outside to the rear of the property we watched several deer munching at the grass and hundreds of geese flying in and out. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a a quiet, comfortable place to stay.

Stunning views and a lovely garden area for the dog to play. Super welcome pack which was unexpected even a bonio for the dog. Very clean and comfortable property, only one problem found, the radiator thermostat in main bedroom could not be turned off. Will certainly book again. Thank you

The welcome pack although unexpected was a real treat. Only a few minutes walk to the beach where you can walk for miles without seeing anyone other than fellow dog walkers. I would definately recomend this property to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in the countryside. The view from the rear of the cottage is fantastic an unspoilt look at the sea with Coquet Island as a backdrop. Would most certainly stay again.

. Lovely welcome package of food! Dog friendly cottage as well. Great walks close by and lots to do.in the area. Most of the cottage was easy to move round using sticks but the living room was a bit crowded with fueniture. Lovely visit.

Enjoyed holiday mainly due to location near beeches.

Cottage too modern for our taste located very close to residential properties in a corner surrounded by houses. Felt there was not enough privacy. Most residents friendly. Parking on occasions was difficult due to location of property. Clean and well maintained. Must stress nothing wrong with property except not too our taste.

Fantastic "goodie hamper" when we arrived which was such a lovely welcome gift. Place was clean and comfortable. Views were great and the walk down to the beach was short. Only space for one car which was fine. Would highly recommend!

The cottage was really well supplied , the provision of extras eg: dab radio, coffee machine were thoughtful extras that made the cottage 'home from home'.

We have recently had a brilliant holiday at Island View Cottage.

The situation of the cottage is perfect as it is an easy 15 min walk to the lovely beach and the coastal path. The cottage was very clean and very well equipped. Beds very comfortable. The welcome pack left was huge with a large selection of treats as well as some essentials. The sitting room and one of the bedrooms has a view over the fields toward the sea and Coquet Island. We had every home comfort while staying here. The only thing to note is that the boiler for the heating is quite noisy, but the owner did show us how to switch it off overnight if we chose to. Other than that this cottage is perfect for a restful holiday and in a good location to visit lots of local attractions and the gorgeous beaches Northumbria is known for.

This is the perfect holiday cottage for a stay on the Northumberland Coast.

We really cant recommend it enough. Location is perfect with beautiful views and and a short walk to one of the many enormous unspoilt beaches. The cottage has everything (and I do mean everything) you could possibly need, is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We still have lots to explore so we will be back!

BRILLIANT everything we experianced about this holiday.

Downside did not stay longer than one week

This is an extremely well-equipped, comfortable cottage with lovely views over the sea/Coquet Island/countryside, situated in a quiet cul de sac.

You can walk to the beach/dunes in about 10 mins, down the lane. Amble is about 5 mins by car - or an easy cycle ride also possible on the flat, quiet coastal road. Hauxley Nature Reserve, with several hides, is 5 minutes by car "down the road". The largest ever "Welcome Pack" was indeed very welcome, thank you! Pleased to say that the minor issue we had with the central heating was resolved immediately by the very attentive owner, who had not been aware of the problem till then.

The Bungalow was clean, with nice views from the back windows.

Parking - this was tight, so be prepared. The main double bed room - it could really do with a larger bed. The bathroom - the shower in the bath was weak in pressure, and difficult to set, and the sink drain was almost blocked solid. The hall way toilet - the sink had the same problem as in the bathroom. The kitchen - it was well supplied with most of what was required, however the sinks hot water supply was nothing more than a slow trickle and took ages to feed hot water through, after a few days it diminished to a dribbled. However the worst problem was the noise that the boiler made, especially during the night, having been in the building trade I can tell you it was bad, so again be prepared. The surrounding area was lovely.

Very comfortable, quiet cottage equipped for 3 generations and dog.

Beautiful view, perfect location with plenty to see & do locally. Exceptional kitchen (we had a successful baking day when the weather was wet!) Many finishing touches that weren’t expected but a nice surprise (welcome treats went down very well!)

Would have preferred direct access to rear garden from inside the house but it was as per the details.

Welcome tray and extra touches inside the cottage were lovely but owners in next door property did not reflect this welcome when our paths crossed.

The welcome tray on arrival was a beautiful touch with a great selection to please everyone. Having the lovely owners next door was also great as if you needed anything they were very happy to help. We would most definitely recommend this Cottage and we hope to return in the future.

Lovely bungalow.

Everything provided and more. Nice welcome pack. More than enough towels ,even had beach towels if needed. Beds very comfortable and house was very clean.location was a great base. Parking was fine but only for one car. Shower was electric but had no pressure .bit like standing under a watering can. We had baths instead and there was lots of hot water. Only other negative would be the noise of the boiler. Every night it woke me up. Think its storage heaters at the house so it went on all night every night.

Beaches clean and dog friendly. Cottage really well supplied for all our needs and a welcome tray added to our delight.

Really the impressing thing was the accommodation and area rather than the booking process though that was straightforward.

If anything, the bungalow is undersold. The place was immaculate, the welcome pack enjoyable and substantial, the area fabulous and the owners welcoming and helpful.
