I do have a few issues I would like to raise though. The fact the owners home is next door is conveniently missing from the information listed,until the full payment has been made, and when I say next door, you could throw a stone from the rental house window into their window, it's a shared drive . There is no direct access to the back garden from the bungalow, you have to go out the side door, down the side of the garage and into the garden that way, which made it very awkward for our dog , the front garden is not secure at all so although you can get to it from the front door, it is again unsuitable and there was no mention of this on the description on sykes page. One of the reasons we choose Northumberland was to take advantage of the dark sky and do some star gazing, however as the owners house was in such close proximity and like I mentioned, to get to the back garden you had to walk right past one of the bedrooms on owners house, across a noisy gravel path, we felt it was unfair to be doing this and it would have meant leaving our dog locked in the house while we went outside.
Lastly the photographs on the website are done very cleverly to make the gardens look much bigger than they actually are, and I feel this is also misleading. The property is very nicely furnished and spotlessly clean ,but had all the information I have mentioned been available I would not have chosen it and I feel sykes need to be clearer in the description
Thank you for your review of our property. I'd like to take this opportunity to correct some of the information provided above about the property and its relation to the owners' property (my house). Firstly, the property does have a shared driveway, but the driveway is adequate for 2 large cars, and it's several metres between my house and the holiday cottage (excluding the garage). Secondly, all the bedrooms in the owners' property are upstairs, away from the holiday cottage and do not overlook the cottage in any way. Thirdly, the front garden is enclosed with a gate at the front, hedges and a small garden wall. This is a lovely south-facing garden that is private. I am sorry the layout of our cottage prevented you from enjoying the wonderful dark skies we have in North Northumberland and its unfortunate that you felt having the owners' property next door was a negative point about our property.
