Lovely view, great location, would stay again,The cottage needs updating, but it didn't spoil our holiday

The positives.

Great location- we were on the beach every day at least once. Parking wasn’t an issue. The rooms were spacious, and beds comfortable. The bathroom is very nice. The kitchen was well organised with the usual appliances at hand. Plenty of plates etc available. Negatives The heating was off when we arrived and the first night was very cold so had to ring the owners. The floor was very dusty under the table but having read some of the reviews previously, not as bad as I was expecting. The flooring is unstable and requires renewal and the decor is tired. All in all I would not have any worries about staying again as it’s a great base to visit areas in Northumberland.

We had a fantastic fortnight's holiday at the cottage.

Everything you could possibly need has been thought of. Lovely owner who texted after the first week if we needed anything else, such as extra duvets, etc. A beautiful property with a sea view and so close to harbour, shops & pubs.

The accommodation is very spacious with good facilities located in a fantastic position.

Out the door onto the park then the beach, around the corner the the shops and bars. Couldn't have wished for more would definatly satay again.

On arrival we were disappointed at the cleanliness and general poor maintenance of the property.

The cotage had not been cleared of the previous guests property which included night wear in the drawers and food in the freezer and cupboards 9 including rotting potatoes). We have always used Sykes Cottages and have been very pleased with each of the venues we have visited. Light keeper cottage needs a deep clean and decoration to achieve the standard expected. The Kitchen and bathroom were both acceptable but there were NO instructions to work any of the appliances, no information about recycling or checkout requirements like where to leave used bedding and towels. The duvet covers were not removable so we did question whether these had been washed prior to our visit. Unfortunately the outside space was a bit of a death trap for two women in their mid seventies, with odd pieces of metal and slippy steps so we could not use it. On the positive side the house is conveniently sited close to the harbour and we enjoyed walk along the causeway and into the town.

there was no instructions that we could find for wifi , dishwasher ect but I managed to figure it out and would of liked a proper duvet on the bed although the bed was very comfy. we would stay again

The accommodation is in a superb location.

The house is tired and could do with a deep clean and decorate. However the owner has thought of absolutely everything including binoculars to look out to sea. Everything to make it comfortable and home from home has been catered for. Thank you for a lovely break.

First impressions was lovely and beautiful house we had lovely 4 days here very cozy and warm.

. The shower was lovely and hot. Plenty of towels and bed was extremely cozy.. We landed on very cold week.. Ice and snow we stocked up at local supermarkets for logs and coal for beautiful log fire. I was sad to leave definitely be booking again lovely welcome pack. Thank you

Lighthouse Keeper's cottage is a cosy cottage with thoughtful touches throughout and we loved our stay there.

It is perfectly located with a vew over the sea from the main bedroom then literally round a corner to the harbour and very close to all the local pubs, shops, cafes. We particularly enjoyed a recliner chair they have next to the fire and arm chairs thougtfully placed next to lamps so you could find a corner to read in comfort. There are books and masses of DVDs too as well as jigsaw puzzles. There was a whole bag of ground coffee, some biscuits, coffee sachets, sugar and milk for our arrival and a small bundle of kindling and fire lighters. There wasn't any wood - so bring your own if you want a fire on the first night. They had two lovely feather pillows but the rest were dreadfully old and 'done' so we bought some - I would bring your own! The master bedroom mattress had a very deep and comfortable foam topper and the other mattresses were soft. The shower is amazing with plenty of space to put all your bits and pieces in the bathroom. The kitchen is very cleverly laid out with a huge dresser filled with dishes and masses of pots. They even had some items there if you wanted to bake. There was an air fryer, a halogen hob, grill and fan oven, fridge freezer with a four drawer freezer, a microwave, kettle and toaster. They had plenty of cleaning materials around and good quality vaccum cleaners. The wifi and heating are all working great AND there is a washer dryer. I had read previous comments about the place needing a deep clean so came prepared to roll up my sleeves, equipped with my own cleaning equipment - and unfortunately I did need to. I have pet and dust allergies and, despite spending a couple of hours cleaning the first night, I spent an uncomfortable night so needed to deep clean the bedroom the following day and when I pulled out furniture found - what could only be - months' of dust and white mould. The seal around the fire door was still broken so the fire wouldn't 'shut down', and the firestick wasn't working. Having said all that, I messaged the owner to let them know about things that were needing attention and they responded right away and couldn't have been nicer - and sounded determined to put things right, and I have no doubt they had no idea what was going on. I was more disappointed with Sykes' website and the lack of support from them. The last thing you need on holiday is to have a lot of hassle - and it is clear from their website they really aren't interested in getting involved because the contract is between you and the owner - and also it's abundantly clear they don't do inspections of properties. The reviews themselves were a red flag that attention was needed. We have used them for years now and two of their properties recently have been not only unclean but so dirty we had to clean them before unpacking and staying there. I am not fussy - but do expect the place to be hygenic. I would gladly go back to this cottage and wouldn't be detered by what happened because I do believe the owner is on it - and if not I cleaned it anyway and would be prepared to do so again!

Amazing location and the property had everything we could have asked for.

Comfortable beds, plenty of seating, open plan living, well stocked kitchen, good entertainment provided on TV, air fryer (!!), plenty of parking outside. We'd read reviews about the property being dirty and not useable due to the cleanliness so were abit worried before arriving but we must have stayed in a different property. Yes, it needs abit of TLC in places but everything was there, it was useable and it definitely wasn't dirty! Our main issue were the stairs out of the back door into the courtyard/garden area. When it rained, these were extremely slippy and as they were quite steep, they're quite dangerous. They need some sort of 'grippy tread' on them. I'd also put some nice solar fairy lights in the courtyard which would make it so much nicer (personal preference of course!). We would definitely recommend and will hopefully return in the future.

The key fob at the front door needs replacing.

The house needs a deep clean!!!. The skirting boards and paintwork is a disgrace. The duvet on the double bed smelt of mens of aftershave . I recognised it as one my husband used..Obviously not washed It didn't have a cover on so not sure how it was cleaned...I went out and purchased my own bedding for the week.. Reading the visitors book, I am not the only person. One couple didn't even stay because of the conditions .. NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED

Nice property but does need some TLC to downstairs floor and paintwork generally.

Very good bed and the most comfortable recliner ever. Good range of equipment and pretty clean throughout. Back yard can be secured and our dog loved it. It is also a suntrap. Would have booked again for next year but already fully booked!!

The location of the property was excellent and truly one of its best features.

However, upon arrival, we were disappointed to find the property in a very unclean state. My mother and I had to carry out a deep clean before we felt comfortable unpacking. There was a welcome pack provided, which was a thoughtful gesture and appreciated. Unfortunately, the steep staircase proved to be a serious issue for my elderly parents, who struggled with it throughout the week. Had we known about this in advance, we would not have booked the property. Additionally, there is a low ledge on the staircase that poses a risk of head injury—it really should be clearly marked or addressed. The overall condition of the house suggests it’s in need of significant attention. There were visible marks on the walls, large cracks in the ceiling, skirting boards awkwardly screwed into place, bubbling paint, and threadbare carpets. Flooring throughout the property is lifting and will cut human or animal feet. The property would benefit greatly from a thorough deep clean and some much-needed TLC.

The location of this property is great.

By the park and by the sea with a view of Coquet Island. This is the best feature of the property. The property itself is a bit dated and needs some updating. However the biggest issue was the lack of cleanliness. There were clean towels and bedding but it felt like the property itself had not been cleaned. We had to clean when we arrived and multiple times thereafter as the longer we stayed the more dirty we realised it was! There was a lot of dog hair, dust and a musty smell. The property needs a thorough deep clean. The outside space in the yard needs some attention and some new garden furniture. The grass needed cutting and the bench is very old which is a shame when there is a beautiful sea view to enjoy.

Comfortable bed and lovely shower. But, place needs a better clean between each guests staying.

Great location and equipment in cottage lovely to have an air fryer.

Lovely walks on doorstep for walking meggy. Just needs freshing up and TV in main bedroom and definitely needs a fan. Very hot in bedroom even with all the windows open. But will definitely book again.

Great location (parking difficult ) very well equipped with everything you need.

Good sky package. Great welcome pack. Just in need of a very deep clean and a coat of paint. Cannot use fire as seal broken. Front door hard to open. No wardrobe in twin room. Luckily our other guests couldn't make it so we never used room. It's been mentioned about cleaning from previous guests so we expected it to have been clean

Cottage ideally situated wonderful location.

Well equipped house with comfortable beds. Unfortunately we were unable to use the log burner due to the seal hanging loose. The bathroom great design but the waste trap was full of black mould and debris it took several kettles of boiling water to clear the trap before we could use the facility .The front door hinges have dropped creating difficulties shutting and opening the door.The whole house could do with a coat of paint . We had no dog our selves but dog hair was noticeable in areas of the cottage . Shame about the cleanliness as we had an amazing time .

Overall, we made the best of our stay at Lightkeeper House and the welcome pack was much appreciated.

However, the property has a poor state of cleanliness and some issues we experienced were potentially dangerous, particularly the log burner seal in the lounge which is falling away from the door and this could allow poisonous gases (carbon monoxide) into the room. We dare not use it! The flooring in the kitchen is uneven and gappy which could cause a trip hazard and is also a hygiene issue. Other areas of the house need a deep clean such as light fittings, radiators, door frames, chair coverings (ripped and dirty), extractor fans, stain on the master bedroom carpet, the kitchen cupboards required cleaning before we could store our food in there, etc. Paul replaced a door knob to the kitchen under stairs boiler/store cupboard and tightened up the screws to the front door which was extremely difficult to open and close, it still sticks. He also cleared the blocked waste water drains in the back yard - up to his armpit in sludge and filthy waste water, but successfully cleared the blockage. A used bottle of water was left by someone on the kitchen counter when we arrived and no hand towel, T-towel or dishcloth were left for us to use during our stay. We are disappointed with this Sykes Cottage as we’ve always found the previous properties we’ve stayed in to be of a high standard. Lightkeeper House has unfortunately raised concerns about us using Sykes again.

Overall a lovely, well equipped, roomy and well laid out property.

Great shower (and big towels!!) and comfy beds. The small enclosed garden was ideal for our dogs and beautiful beaches are a stones throw away. Tea, coffee and biscuits were much appreciated on our arrival and the log burner was lovely in the evenings. Good TV package for rainy days.

Lightkeeper House was absolutely amazing.

Warm and cosy, comfortable and clean. Lovely comfy beds and bedding, wonderful bathroom, great kitchen and dining area. It was extremely spacious, but was also a real home from home, with everything supplied that you could possibly need. Beautiful location with a very short walk to the beach. So quiet and peaceful. Can't wait to return. Would definitely recommend, in fact we didn't want to leave.

This property was uninhabitable.

Furniture was tired, flooring broken, sofas and chairs torn. I could have coped with this... BUT the property was filthy! Toilet covered in pubic hair and urine under rim. Shower dirty and full of hair and bodily grime in shower trap. Kitchen bin covered in food debris. Microwave and oven filthy with burnt on food. Floors thick with dust, hair and grime. Cobwebs on ceilings and light fittings. We were unable to remain in the property. We had to find alternate accommodation at considerable cost. Owners refused to come and clean the property, then ceased all communication. We returned to the property mid week as I thought I'd left my phone charger behind, to find the owner sitting watching SKY TV in the lounge. He promised us that his partner would refund us. But we've had no communication. DO NOT BOOK!!

Well prepared, warm and comfortable in a great location. Very dog friendly!

Absolutely great cottage.

Couple of little issues but would absolutely return. The cottage ( as most do) could do with a deep clean, not looking to be picky but behind furniture pretty dusty ( only trying to use a plug behind furniture and dropped something behind couch). The steps on the decking were very slippery and really need something on them to stop this. Also worth a mention is that the side garden is only accessed via a gate but we just left it open so our dogs could go in there. Amble is amazing great beaches, restaurants and the fish stalls. Loved the holidays as did the dogs . Can’t wait to come back again

The only comment I would say is that it is listed as parking for 2 cars which gives the impression it is parking dedicated to the property. But it is on road parking, therefore occasionally we could not park outside the property. We were fortunate each time to park in the lay-by close by.

Comfortable, very well kitted out and great location.

Some water damage to the ceiling in the second bedroom - when it rained heavily one night this dripped. Hosts were away and unable to fix immediately so offered 10% discount.

Our third time in Amble and this is the best, most comfortable and best laid out property of the three places we have stayed in. Warm accommodation - in fact got too warm with log fire lit - very large grate, therefore recommend limit the size of the fire made in the grate. Well equipped, including several dog food & water bowls - couldn't fault it. Very close to the beach and harbour - ideal situation.

The house was nice with comfortable seating and beds.

The thing that let down our comfort was the lack of heating. The weather was cold and wet and the heating, especially upstairs was not good. There was a log burner and we used it every day which meant spending over £30 on logs. The windows let draughts through as well. Front door stiff to open. Recliner chair needs a good clean.The house was well equipped and a nice welcome pack was provided. No contact from owners prior to our stay which was unusual.

We stayed last week November.

Warm, welcoming and homely. Perfect for us travelling with two hounds. Enough floor space for two dog beds! Welcome pack for dog was lovely, with dog dishes too! Outside space perfect for us, safe enclosed courtyard Well equipped kitchen, and welcome pack. Two minutes walk to coastal path and the great beaches. We enjoyed long beach walks, even if the weather was a tad nippy. Close to shops and pubs, but near coast too, perfect. Would certainly return to this cottage.

The cottage was delightful, warm , comfortable and the owners had worked hard to make their guests welcome.

The kitchen was well equipped. Always plenty of hot water and by controlling the thermostat we could keep the temperature as we wished. The cottage is close to the town centre and to the beach. We would recommend Jaspers for a special meal.

This is a lovely cottage with beautiful views of Coquet Island.

We only had a short break, but thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the beach in Amble in a comfortable cottage that was perfect for the stay.

Some parts looking a bit worn and in need of attention.

Some things missing - no pegs, no tea towels. Inside of microwave very dirty and smelly and many surfaces dusty. Carpets not properly vacuumed and floor downstairs sticky. Position of the cottage ideal, but having to clean bits of it and search for basics like tea towels a bit annoying after a long drive.

Really well equipped house in a great location.

Very spacious and had everything we needed. Owner very helpful with a couple of small issues, which were resolved immediately. House is needing a bit of tlc in places but otherwise great and we’d stay again.

We have stayed there before and will stay there again.

We love it . It a is very comfortable property with easy access to the beach and to the village. We highly recommend it.

Rain leaked through the back bedroom ceiling over the TV area.

I reported it but got no response. Some of my clothes were affected but it was not a problem. We placed a container under the leaky place during rain periods.

We would recommend to bring the property up-to-date it's looking a little tired On saying that the location is perfect and we would love to rent out again.

Well equipped cottage.

Clean and comfortable. Would happily book again. My wife and I have enjoyed the North East coast having stayed at various locations over the years, this location did not disappoint.

Had a lovely week.

The cottage was homely and warm. The kitchen had everything you’d need including a slow cooker and air fryer! The bed was so comfortable ( loved the fleecy bedding). Amble itself was gorgeous. It was nice to see a fishing port and local shops doing well. And the locals were friendly, almost everyone we came across said good morning or hello.

This was our 4th stay at Lightkeeper House, but the first post-covid.

Ideally situated and excellent for taking our 2 small dogs out for a stroll. Amble is a great location to fan out from to visit the area's other places of interest. Every chance we will book again in the future.

Our second visit to the cottage and we could clearly see the improvements that the owner has made in the last four years.

For us, having two large dogs, the cottage is perfect for beach access. The cottage is spacious but cosy with everything we needed for the week. Amble itself is a delightful little area and the local independent shops are amazing (especially the butchers and bakery). The harbourside village is quaint and perfect for those unique gifts. The welcome pack was well received by us and the dogs. We will definitely be back!

Was sad to see the bath had been removed from the property but still listed in the amenities And had to leave a day early as there was a leek in the roof coming in to the bedroom.

Could have been cleaner.

Dust in the bathroom and the floor downstairs felt it had not been cleaned properly. We had a problem with the lights upstairs (luckily we arrived when it was daylight). This was fixed however only lasted 3 days and the landing one went again and this was not fixed for the rest of our stay. The cooking pans were past there best. The 2 single beds were not very comfy could feel the mattress springs and the sheets felt gritty. We were informed about a damp patch on the ceiling of the back bedroom when they came to fix the electrics and were told it was a missing slate on the roof and hopefully we shouldn't get any rain! There was no hanging space in the back bedroom and the door would not close to give us some privacy. The location is perfect and Amble is a lovely place.

Love staying in this clean comfortable house.

It's always perfect and we appreciate the milk etc that are there on arrival plus the treats for the dog! Sea views from every window. Fantastic comfortable bed, lovely walk in shower plus the sky package is great as we love watching sport. It's a home form home and we look forward to staying there again. Thank you.

We had one of the best holidays.

The house was quirky which we love. It also had everything in it we needed. The area around is easy access to many places of interest. Amble itself is a very friendly town. A great place for exploring along the coast with the dogs. A lot of unique shops in the high street, also a good number of eateries we had everything we needed within walking distance. We plan on going again, loved it.

It's very comfortable and we appreciate the sea views,updated bathroom,luxurious towels and generous welcome package. Being out all day enjoying the glorious beaches and interesting places to visit it's an added bonus to have Sky sports! We're booked in again this September. Lovely holiday home, with excellent location for wondering around Amble and sampling the many delights on offer.

Pity about beach being off limits to dogs during high season 1May>> apart from that very dog friendly area for responsible owners, with many places to sample local fair. House itself clean and comfortable. Added extras like Nespresso Machine great touch, wish I had known in advance. Only issues , not complaints , were staircase a bit steep ( but probably typical for house type ) ,main bed was small double not king size and Central Heating controls a bit mixed up with heating coming on unnecessarily in the middle of the night. Northumberland is a great area and Light Keeper House is a vg base for a holiday. Property owners are doing a good job to make an older property feel more modern with some lovely finishing touches. Would rebook Light Keeper House for another holiday in the future. Thank you for a comfortable base for our holiday.

My second visit and I will happily book again.

We have enjoyed our stay in Amble and had some lovely walks but unfortunately we didn’t have a pleasant experience in the cottage, this is approximately our 3 time using one of Sykes cottages and have had no complaints at all but I feel I need to make you aware that Light keeper house wasn’t at all clean, everything from the decor and the kitchen appliances is very dated and very used to the point they look grubby, the toaster is old and looks dirty and I couldn’t bring myself to use it, I had to clean the oven before I put anything in it and the underside of the bin lid was a disgrace.

The pans were very old and ready for replacing. Outside was even worse the windows are filthy and all around the bottom of the doors need a good clean, the yard at the back hadn’t been swept and needs a good bleaching was very green and probably slippery when wet. The grass in the garden was about a foot long with a pile of rubbish in the corner and the bench was broken old and unusable. My dog was getting bitten by something and couldn’t settle at all! We left the property on Wednesday as we felt so uncomfortable but I can tell you it was a lot cleaner when we left than when we arrived.

Unfortantly this property was very disappointing it was by no means covid cleaned it needs updating and decorating especially upstairs There was a lot of things that were wrong this property regarding cleanliness I must say it was a lovely location and amble is lovely I would love to go back After putting in a complaint sykes as assured me the owner has put right all the problems we put to them

Our first time in Northumberland and we loved it.

The cottage had every home comfort we could have needed and the spec was great. Perfect location for harbour and beaches. Great communication with the owner Dawn! Will definitely return. Highly recommended

Having trawled through many holiday properties to find what we required we could only go on the written details provided and the reviews.

These were spot on and we were very pleased. The accommodation and facilities were as excellent. As fare as the geographical position again just what we wanted. Beaches, shops and restaurants' coupled with many activities all in easy reach.

Amble is delightful and the cottage is the perfect location.

We felt genuinely welcome through the small touches on arrival, and have already discussed coming back again.

This should have been our 2020 holiday but obviously the country was all put on hold, Sykes changed it without any fuss or extra charge.

Great service. The house is in the most wonderful position with the outlook over the sea, there was nothing missing in the house you could possibly need for your holiday. Amble and surrounding area is stunning we walked for miles with our 2 little dogs and all pubs and cafés were very dog friendly. We are already planning to return next year.

the house was pleasant and the place was lovely however the on road parking is a problem as the local residents around the house seem to think that they actually own the road telling us that we should only bring one car.

when returning to the house one day I parked in a spot which was vacant which happened to be outside one of their houses and got a load of abuse even though their cars regularly parked outside the house we were staying in there is room at this house to possibly make off road parking by using the garden at the side this should be considered as we will not return or recommend because I do not like being told what I can and cannot do on a public highway by ignorant residents

Homely cottage is a great location in the lovely town of Amble

This is a very comfortable house with a lovely new bathroom.

Great location makes it a pleasure to do the washing up with a view of the sea. We had fantastic weather,wall to wall sunshine. After months of lockdown this holiday was treasured more than most!

The back yard is not as good as pictures show.

Steps down to yard are very steep. Front door is hard to open or shut due to it sticking. Quite a few bits of redecorating needed.

Love this cottage.

It was comfy, clean, has everything you need & very dog friendly. It even has full Sky with sport. Fantastic location with view of the sea. Bonus having the side garden for the dogs with bench for morning coffee! Great grassy area down to a small beach. (larger ones within easy walking distance).The beaches are wonderful & Amble is really friendly. We had an issue with the boiler & the owners did everything to get it fixed - thank you. A lovely home from home is a perfect position to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline.

Had a great break and have booked to stay again later this year.

My expectations were not met great location but a few things need sorting the kingsize bed very small only one small wardrobe and lounge furniture low and not very comfortable, needed a few more kitchen things i.

e Large baking tray, large casserole/lasagne dish I think that maybe there should be a list or requirements by you and these should be on them, everything very low to get to in the kitchen, the steps to the garden need looking at very steep and no outside light at night not a great combination if these thing were put right this would be am excellent cottage.

The cottage is well maintained - the home from home comforts are lovely and the additional touches with milk/tea/coffee/biscuits and dog treats for our pouches being left for us is exceptional - a great place to stay with beautiful walks and plenty of amenities at hand

When looking to book a holiday we normally like to book somewhere outside the hustle and bustle of a town.

But thought we would try this location as it was on the edge of one of our favourite towns . It was perfect. For an end terrace property With a sea view, a park just outside the front door is perfect for families.. It was very quiet, has a secure garden for the dog, and a yard ... perfect for washing the dog down after walks on the endless dog friendly beach’s . absolutely everything we needed for our stay. Very clean, very warm, more than a home from home.

This cottage just about met expectations , a little tired perhaps!

Rain shower not working and gutter blocked and overflowing above front door so a lake formed at the front.

We had a great stay in lightkeeper house, we arrived early after travelling up from Somerset, the owner was great and invited us in and showed us around even though the cottage wasn’t ready, after a short stroll around Amble she contacted us as soon as the property was ready.

Great space in the cottage for us and the two dogs, Overall a great base to stay, well equipped and minutes from the beach and the town centre, we loved it and will be back.

So many wonderful places to visit in this area.

Castles and National Trust places, Lindisfarne and Farne Islands, Hadrians Wall Fantastic coastline. Just beautiful. The house was a home from home. Very comfortable and more spacious than we had assumed from the photographs. Excellent situation to explore the larger area

The cottage is spacious and well equipped with good views of the sea.

In an excellent location in the village which has an excellent range of shops. It is a good centre for exploring the area.

The light keeper house was absolutely Shocking very dirty and mould on windows and shower didn’t work awful smell found out what it was the dishwasher smelled like a toilet everything was worn out full house could have done with a good clean and decorate though out both doors front and back was hard to open due to sticking very disappointed with the full experience not much help either with trying to get my money back I’ve used Sykes for a few years and been happy but this will be the last time I use Sykes the owner of lightkeeper house needs to be taken off Sykes list .

Anyone thinking of going in lightkeeper house think again and look for some where else

What a great place to use as a base, great views and a short walk to the beach, with a lovely green space in front of us.

Yes there was a couple of niggly things in the cottage like the sticking front door and some of the cleaning wasn't quite up to some of the usual Sykes cottages we've been in, but it would not put us of going there again to go again because it was such a super place to be in. Overall the cottage was a lovely place to stay, with plenty of space and plenty of things to do in & around Amble, which is a lovely place to stay.

The position is fantastic.

House has everything you need. Easy parking Good area to stay for visiting Northumberland, Amble is a lovely town.

Property needs some TLC.

Sticking doors , leaking and difficult to adjust shower, chipped crockery, high and low dusting badly required. A lovely welcome pack for dogs and humans, thanks.

The cottage was well placed to explore the area and there were plenty of easily accessible shops, restaurants.

There were a few issues with the cottage however: the front door sticks & needs a hefty shove to open/close which doesn't create a good first impression; the standard of cleanliness was not brilliant; there was an issue with the shower controls being difficult to use & evidence of water damage on the kitchen ceiling which was clearly an ongoing problem.

My friend and I had a totally relaxed holiday in this lovely property it was clean comfortable and close to all amenities the views of the sea were amazing and our dogs settles really well - would definately recommend to our friends

We had a lovely time at the lightkeepers house in Amble.

The house was like a home from home for us. The welcome pack for us was a nice touch as was the dog treats for our lab Woody. The house is situated really well, not far from local shops, restaurants and pubs. The beach is literally across the grassed area outside the front door. The house itself was warm and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for your stay. We would highly recommend this property to friends and family. We hope to be back in the future Thankyou

What a fantastic cottage!

Location is perfect, just across from the beach. Spacious rooms, cosy log burner and every appliance/utensil you could possibly need. Welcome pack was a lovely gesture.

The cottage was lovely and larger than we expected.

It was very well equipped with plenty of pans and baking trays etc., as we like to cook for ourselves. An added bonus for us was that there was somewhere to store our bikes (we were cycling on the coast and castles cycle route). There was plenty of space for our dogs and the position of the cottage was excellent for dog walks on the green and on nearby beaches. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a full sky package on the TV, which gave us a choice of films to watch in the evenings and enabled my husband to watch formula 1 on Sunday. We were so impressed with the cottage and the lovely town of Amble that we have re-booked the cottage for next year.

The cottage was really well located. Superb for people with children as right next to a brilliant park and a small beach with loads of great rock pools.

This cottage was booked on recommendation from a friend who regulary stays there .

It has exceeded our expectations . Beautifully furnished, exceptionally clean and we met the lovely owner too. Wine . Biscuits and even treats for our German Shepherd dog awaited our arrival. Wifi , sky tv , Fresh towels and even toilet rolls. Everything you need has been supplied. We are here now. Having a fab holiday. We will definitely be booking to stay here again. This is definitely 5 star accomodation. Book now. You will not be dissapointed !

Dog friendly back yard and side garden with access to some fantastic local walks. Only negative really was only having one oven baking dish and we purchased two baking sheets to cook pizzas on - no problem really as holidays aren't for cooking

This cottage is excellent for beach and town only 5mins away fantastic scenery and situated with easy access to surrounding areas

). Also appreciated the follow up call after our arrival to check everything was OK for us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will visit again.

We were told bathroom was being refurbished.

In truth it was in inadequately heated and ventilated. Grouting on tiles was dirty,. Overall felt DIRTY. Initially booked because of location and wood burner. Glass broke on wood burner, we informed owner, situation wasn't resolved so we returned home early. Turned out to be a very expensive and disappointing experience. What a shame!!!!

Very modern decor inside and everything provided for a relaxing week. We enjoyed staying in Amble (3rd time for us) and the weather was surprisingly good for the time of year too! Thanks to the owners for all the extra little touches like dog treats & towels, coffee, tea, milk & biscuits! We highly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book it again when we visit the area. Fantastic!

Absolutely loved our week away!

The house was clean and very welcoming but also cosy. We had wonderful views looking to Coquet Island and the sun rises were spectacular. The house was really well situated for dog walking, castle visiting and just popping into town and the locals were so very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

The location of the house was perfect and made the stay brilliant.

The owner's extra little touches made it a home from home, they really have thought of everything - like providing dog bowls & a dog towel, welcome biscuits for us & treats for the dogs! The beach is 2 mins away & there is a sea view. We simply loved our holiday. Have already rebooked!
