Wordsworth Cottage West

Excellent property for two people and I expect three also.

Beautiful setting, next door to a lovely church and an excellent corner shop almost next door that's got way more than expected and a first class coffee shop selling good food a stone thrown away. The cottage is very well appointed and comfortable. The owner left fresh scones and cream from the café as well as milk. The kitchen had all we needed and more. The white goods are not top of the range but were perfectly adequate. The lounge was super comfortable with a decent number of books, CDs and games. We spent our nights in and were happy doing so. The main bedroom is as good as the picture suggests and the bed is huge. The owner was very easy to deal with. Lastly, the price point is appropriate and we felt good value for money. Would happily stay again.

We would return to this homely (if a little tired) venue.

The location was excellent for visiting a variety of sights in Northumbria.

Great comfortable cottage with fab scones tea, coffee & milk on arrival.

Could do with a little TLC - cobwebs, curtains falling off, tv lost signal, garden scruffy, however this didn’t impact our stay. Great location for hiking the area. Easy on road parking.

Lovely cottage in a great location to explore Northumberland.

Good large main bedroom with huge comfortable bed. Comfortable sitting room, with a varied selection of interesting literature, and a very good blue tooth Sharp entertainment system. Parking available on street outside, and good cornershop a few yards away selling everything you may need, and two pubs a very short distance away that serve food. Nice welcome box with scones, jam and cream, and milk in the fridge. Responsive owner. Loved our stay.

The cottage is very homely with all the facilities needed for a short stay.

Communication with the owners was easy and proactive - for example, letting us know when the cottage was ready. They even posted an item of clothing we left behind at their expense. The provision of milk and scones on arrival was most welcome. I would thoroughly recommended Wordsworth Cottage (West).

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage and found it to be an excellent base for exploring the area.

The location is fantastic. A well-stocked corner shop is literally seconds away and carries everything you might need for your stay, including a great selection of artisan cheeses, fresh bread, basic vegetables, and other everyday essentials. They also stock locally made sandwiches, which were perfect for taking on day trips. The local butcher is only a minute's walk from the cottage and is exceptional. The quality of the meat is outstanding, and their locally smoked bacon was particularly memorable. For larger shops, including useful shops like Go outdoors and supermarkets are only around a 15-minute drive away in Alnwick. We would also highly recommend Turnbull's in Alnwick, which is well known for its excellent food. Their sausages are some of the best we have ever tasted. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and tidy on arrival. The kitchen was especially well equipped, with a coffee filter machine, microwave, oven, hob, slow cooker, and plenty of utensils, making it easy to prepare meals during our stay. Overall, this is a comfortable, well-equipped cottage in a superb location with excellent local amenities on the doorstep. We would happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to others.

This is a lovely cosy cottage in the heart of Longframlington.

The property is reasonable and comfy although could do with updating in areas, unfortunately this wont happen as the property is up for sale, I suspect this is the reason behind it not being updated.

I would have liked to have know prior to booking that the property wasn't available until 5pm as this gives very little time to unpack, source a place for dinner before the evening has gone, its usually 3pm. There's 2 fantastic places to eat at within a couple of mins walk, unfortunatly didnt get chance to try out the cafe.

The outdoor space needed a good sweep and clean.

The ivy and shrubs needed cutting back and the planters were full of dead plants. It could be made to look much better with a little effort. S

First impression from outside, very poor.

It looked as if it had never been cleaned or maintained. Nowhere to sit outside. Inside need of someT.L.C. Curtains looked as if they could fall off. But on the positive. A very cosy cottage, that was well equipped.

Two areas need addressing new mattresses are needed, and the bathroom shower and shower screen need to be refurbished.

Nice cottage in great location, but would benefit from investment of time and money.

Paintwork needs freshening up throughout. Mattresses and cooker need replacing. Shower also need maintenance (falls down and leaks onto floor). Good communication from owner, who provided quick response to urgent repairs. Fantastic wood burner.

Lovely cottage, super location, in both the amenities in the village, pubs etc, but a great base to tour Northumberland.

The property was well placed between all the places that we had pre planned to visit.

Owner Pam was very friendly and kept us informed when necessary.

She also kindly advised us that the property was available to access before the normal check-in time. This was particularly useful as we had several hours to kill. Lovely stay over Christmas period.

The cosy little cottage never fails to satisfy our needs for that welcome unwind, and your always on hand if required, a little cosy home from home but with the added bonus of the lovliest of fireplaces and log burner. We can`t wait for our return visit.

Log burner was great and was a lovely warm cottage for the autumn.

We enjoyed a comfortable week at Wordsworth Cottage BUT felt it needed some tlc in certain areas.

The outside space certainly needs attention and a good 'tidy up' . The mattress definitely needs replacing. Some drawer fronts were loose (and had been mentioned months ago in the comments book). Spiders web in bathroom. Lots of the curtains need rehanging as the runners have come away. Minor things which didn't detract from us having a good week, but could have elevated our responses above. However there was a generous welcome pack which we appreciated.

A lovely cottage but pity about the parking.

Didnt find the detailsd about places to visit until the last day. Maybe more should be done to bring thes to the attention of visitors

Ideal location to explore Northumbria.

Comfortable cottage in pretty village. Good contact with owner. Cottage was not as clean as we would have liked. Previous visitors had forgotten bread and cake in the bread bin which was all mouldy! Cobwebs in the kitchen over the clock had been mentioned by a previous visitor in May, and were still there on our arrival. Kitchen worktops were dirty and needed cleaning. Carpets needed a good hoover all through the cottage. Dead insects were seen on some window sills and areas near skirting boards needed a good clean, particularly in the lounge. We cleaned the areas we used, like in the kitchen, but not others. Bathroom was clean, with a good selection of towels and shower was efficient. Everywhere was well equipped - kitchen and lounge. Bed in main bedroom was huge - however in our opinion, needed a new mattress. We were left a welcome basket of scones, home made jam, biscuits and milk, plus coffee bags, hot chocolate sachets and tea, which was gratefully received. Local shops met all our needs, although the corner shop was eye-wateringly expensive. Fabulous cakes and snacks in another, with a small cafe attached. The Quiche Lorraine slices were gorgeous. To conclude, we had an amazing week visiting places all around the county, and were comfortable in the cottage.

Although the double bed is huge and inviting is also uncomfortable. Also the tin opener did not work we had to buy a new one from the corner shop at great expense (£1.99) . The settees are uncomfortable as well. On the whole we had great time and will be back to Northumberland again somewhere!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wordsworth West.

Warm, cosy, clean and comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It's ideally situated for exploring Northumberland, Englands finest county.

Spacious and cosy, especially with the wood-burning stove lit on an evening.

An initial basket of logs and everything needed supplied. A small repair needed to the shower mid-stay was immediately responded to and fixed quickly by a professional. Sad to leave. Staying here highly recommended.

We loved our stay .

We were so grateful for the wonderful welcome pack. Very thoughtful. The cottage is homely and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you would want and need.(except a colander) ha ha. Great bed. I have to say the light on the landing blasting in my eyes was uncomfortable as it blinds you for a second , but don't know what the answer would be for seeing the raised landing in the dark . Northumberland is beautiful and so much to do and see. Never get fed up and the cottage is perfect for getting around. Best wishes Pam.

We had a lovely week in this cottage, despite storm Babet raging havoc all around .

When we arrived it was just starting to get dark and the lights were on in the kitchen, which made a really welcoming sight, there was milk, bread, cake, wine and a basket with tea, coffee, biscuits and sweets - wow I have stayed in lots of cottages, but never had such a generous welcome gesture. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm, very comfortable throughout, including a huge comfy bed. It is right in the middle of the village with easy access to the lovely places that Northumberland has to offer. Parking on the road directly outside the cottage was never an issue. A really good bus link to nearby Morpeth or on to Newcastle is right on the doorstep. Pam, the owner provided so much useful information - I needed to see a GP and had all the details necessary to make this happen. This cottage was a real ‘home from home’ and with so much more to see in this lovely area, I hope we will be back again in the future. Many thanks Pam for your hospitality.

Our second stay in Wordsworth Cottage was a delight.

The cottage is what every holiday home should be, excellently equipped & furnished with attention to detail, welcome little touches upon arrival and the best log burner of any holiday home we have ever stayed in.

Lovely cottage and we particularly liked the welcome pack and also the Clearview stove which we also have at home so it was a real home-from-home.

We loved the welcome goodies, especially the cheese bread. Thank you Pam. It was in a good area for getting around Northumberland. We were lucky the weather was kind to us, even sat on the beach in Alnmouth . I would have scored higher but found the beds a bit uncomfortable for us. We were sad to leave.

Stayed here for 3 weeks and it was so cosy and had everything you needed .

Tastefully decorated too and the log burner was a bonus on the colder nights. The hosts Pam and Roger were perfect hosts, if you needed to contact them nothing was a problem. A lovely welcome basket awaited us . The facilities in the village are fantastic everything you need on your doorstep. Would definitely recommend this holiday cottage, and hope to go back at some point . Excellent!!!

The cottage was beautiful, spacious, clean and very comfortable.

Everything we required was available and the welcome pack and goodies left were very kind and appreciated. Pam was lovely and looked after us so well and helped with the fuse problem we had promptly. Ideal location for us and the facilities in the village were great. Definitely will be back.

Wordsworth Cottage is just great, very cosy and comfortable and very well equipped.

It is in a great location for visiting the surrounding areas. We had a lovely time. We didn't meet the owner, but she was very helpful when we didn't have any hot water, which was sorted within a short time.

Very comfortable and particularly spacious main bedroom.

Well located and despite there being no allocated parking we had no difficulty in parking outside the cottage on every day.

A lovely cosy cottage.

We've really enjoyed our stay at Wordsworth Cottage. It's furnished to a high standard, spotlessly clean, comfortable super king size bed. Kitchen is very well equipped. Log burner for cosy nights although we didn't need it. The host, Pam, was very thoughtful and friendly. Thank you so much for the gluten free goodies along with tea, coffee milk, biscuits and Lindisfarne Mead. Longframlington is a good base to explore Northumberland. National Trust's Cragside nearby as is Brinkburn Priory. Alnwick approx 12 miles away. Barter books in Alnwick is a must for book lovers. Bamburgh is well worth a visit too.

Very well appointed and comfortable home.

We appreciated the bread, milk, tea and biscuits on our arrival. Its central location made it easy to access castles and beaches. On street parking was fine outside and there is a nice cafe opposite. We had an excellent holiday.

My husband and I had a wonderful and rested stay. The cottage facilities were excellent. Having good local shops was a real plus point. I even went to the hairdressers, just three doors away. Everyone in the village including the local bus drivers were very friendly. Sarah and Barry Wilkinson.

We had a wonderful stay, everything was great.

The Cottage was so comfortable with everything you could possibly need and a lot you didn't realise you needed. The handy village shops are very high quality. The location is central for a lot of the tourist activities this wonderful county has to offer. Thoroughly recommended!

The cottage is lovely with everything you need.

The master bedroom is spacious and soft bed. Everything you need for a comfy stay and Pam was very communicative to answer any questions. Loved Longframlington and the handy bakery/cafe. No where seemed too far away to get too.

In perfect location cottage very high standard extremely comfortable and cosy with perfect attention to detail and made to feel welcome with treats and essentials when we arrive village is a busy community with excellent pub food and cafe

The log burner was wonderful to be able to put your feet up in front of in the evening, after a day exploring the area. The Welcome pack was much appreciated and Pam, the host, really cares that you have a good time. There is plenty to do. We did a lovely walk into Rothbury via the Anglers Arms and caught the bus back, also went to Amble by bus to have a fish platter at the Boat House. Drove to kielder water, Wallington Hall and Bamburgh Castle too. Longframlington has 2 pubs and a lovely bakery and tearoom along with a handy corner shop so the cottage is in a brilliant location. Although no allocated parking, we had no problems with parking outside the cottage during our stay and the bus stops in front of the church, which is next door.

The cottage is very convenient for the centre of the village.

The residents of Longframlington are courteous and welcoming. We had no problems with parking even though the cottage did not have a designated parking space.. The cottage was warm, comfortable and spacious. We felt at home throughout our stay and would definitely recommend it.

Very warm and cosy with a big wood burner. Great location and good communication from the owner.

The cottage was lovely, comfortable and homey with a well equipped kitchen and a beautiful master bedroom.

However, it needed a bit of TLC, such as making sure the washing machine was in good working order (it wasn't) and that the key to the back door worked (it didn't). In their defense, the owners were very responsive to the small problems that cropped up and also went to the trouble of mailing on bits and pieces that we'd left in a dresser drawer. Overall a wonderful stay.

Lovely house , very convenient for touring the area .

Well equipped for a comfortable stay . Hosts were wonderful and provided all home comforts . Would be helpful to be more specific in the directions for arrival (Just need to add the house is a couple of doors away from the village shop or next to the church) as we had to drive up and down a few times to see it .

The house smelt damp and musty.

The crockery smelt musty because the kitchen cupboards smelt musty. This was even though the housekeeper/cleaner had left all the windows open. There was a washing machine (and pegs!) but no washing line or clothes airer to put wet washing on. We found silverfish crawling on the bedroom walls. It was a bit cluttered with too much furniture. The location was okay and the bed was comfy though.

One of the best holiday cottages we’ve stayed at.

The welcome pack was a bonus we weren’t expecting and had everything we needed for our first few hours before finding the local shop, which is worthy of mention as it stocks most things and is only a few doors from the cottage. Longframlington is a great explore the local area.

Close to lots of attractions and walks.

On the website it does not mention parking for cars.

At this property parking was on a very busy road outside the house. This meant that at times it was impossible to park as there was a shop and hairdressers next door and inconsiderate people parked there. Also it was used for parking for someone who worked in the pub across the road junction. This person would park all day. The parking was dangerous because of the large number of cars, lorries and buses that passed. If we had known that parking was on a busy main road we would not have booked this particular property. The information on the website was misleading by omitting this piece of information.

The comfort and homeliness of the cottage was lovely and the extra touches, soft throws, lots of logs for the fire, cheesy baguette and milk etc on arrival were extremely welcome.

Bus stop, shop and local village pubs were all only a few yards away. First class accommodation, thank you.

A real home from home. A lovely location within walking distance of the corner shop, 2 pubs and The Running Fox. Bus to Morpeth stops just up the road from cottage. Will definitely be back.

A great cottage with everything you could need.

The cottage was extreemly well equiped and in an ideal location for coast, Craigside, walking, and Hadrians wall.

Several good pub/restaurents within 10 miles, 2 in the village. An excellent place to stay.

Wordsworth Cottage is the perfect base for a Northumberland holiday.

Good for the coast, national parks, castles and Scotland. The cottage is spacious, has everything you could possibly need and the big wood burner is great on these colder autumn nights. Staff at The Village Inn at the bottom of the road are very welcoming and the food is superb. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to visit the area, and commend the cleaning crew for their attention to detail during the Covid pandemic.

Excellent well equipped cottage in good location for visiting both the coast and Northumberland AONB.

Weather was a little grim while we were there but the cottage was very cosy and the log burner kept us warm. Two good pubs within easy walking distance. Street parking only but plenty of spaces albeit not always directly in front of cottage.
