Brilliantly furnished and stocked.

Comfortable and welcoming. Claire, the owner, lives next door, and is really helpful, if you should have any problems, which we didn't! Great location for exploring the area. Recommend the fish and chip van that comes to the village, on a Friday.

The communications we had prior to our arrival were all very helpful.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and as described. We loved every moment of our stay in this lovely village and found everyone very welcoming. We enjoyed exploring the area and found Scott and Claire ready to offer advice and suggestions about places to visit. The EV charging was also a great convenience.

It was spotless, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. The peaceful location was perfect for a relaxing break. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return.

A gorgeous comfy and snuggly cottage, like home from home with everything you need.

Fabulous garden which must be beautiful in the summer, not quite warm enough this time to sit out. Village shop was good for sandwiches and pastries, also supply's most of the basics. Great for visiting places in Northumberland. I loved the welcome pack, milk, bread, local fudge and biscuits. The fresh presse apple juice was amazing and much better than the usual bottle of wine. 10 out of 10.

Shame that there was no ice compartment to make cold drinks. Otherwise fantastic.

The accommodation was excellent the building very quaint,and central in the village,a thorough guide book about the house amenities and where to visit.

Everything was there that we needed, plus a lot of local products and produce. Much appreciated and enjoyed. The Leg of Mutton public house is well worth a visit for good value food and beers .Situated two minutes walk away.

Welcome gifts a lovely touch for us and the pooches thank you.Sofas not the most comfortable to sit on,but fine for a short time with a cuppa after a day's exploring. We found the singlebed mattresses not supportive,but this is personal preference. Village shop is superb,and locals very friendly. Owners nice and helpful,nothing too much trouble.

We found the cottage clean, cosy and well-equipped with plenty of space for our two Springers.

The welcome pack was appreciated, also the dogs approved of their treats. Being able to use the garden was welcome we loved it, especially being able to chill out watching the birds at the feeding station. Clare and Scott made us feel so welcome and helped explaining the local attractions as it was our first time visiting Northumberland, and it will not be the last time we will be returning. The location of the cottage is excellent for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside and parks with our dogs. The pub “Leg of Mutton” and village shop are so close, everyone we met have been so friendly. Every Friday evening a Fish & Chip van visits the village excellent value for money.

Generally, the cottage location was good with the use of the owners' rear garden and was easily accessible to all the main attractions.

Local amenities, the Shoulder of Mutton for food, and the local shop were excellent. All in all, a good location and pleasant stay.

Windows not able to open in bedroom and lounge area need fixing.

Bedding too heavy for summer, more suited to winter months. A freezer box would be an advantage. The sofas although look nice are very low, difficult for elderly persons to get up from. The garden area is lovely but we were requested not to have our dog out there unless loose due to owners pet recovering from operation, also final afternoon the back electric gates to the main road were open so couldn’t use the garden again. Rang owner but couldn’t be fixed until following day. Loved the area but unfortunately will not return to the cottage as not “dog friendly” as advertised

Comfortable and cozy cottage in the pretty village of Longhorsley.

The owners Clare and Scott live next door and were easily contactable and helpful for any queries while we were there. It was nice and quiet and in a convenient place for exploring Northumberland. We enjoyed our stay and would return without any hesitation.

Lovely little property, great base for visiting Northumberland.

There are some lovely touches, welcome gifts of biscuits, milk and fudge and the cupboard full of condiments. We did have issues with the hot water, needed to use the override on the boiler to get a hot shower but in all fairness we did not tell the owners as we weren’t there long. Sky was a fab extra, Wi-Fi was fast and I would recommend the Old School Room to anyone thinking of a visit.

Claire and Scott were helpful and friendly throughout. The cottage is small and cosy neat with everything that you need. We will be back soon!

Friendly and he

The cottage was a great place to explore the surrounding beautiful coast and countryside.

And we also had a wedding at the lovely Linden Hall which is just up the road. It is a lovely little village and a week there had us all feeling calm and relaxed. The only problem we had was with the Sky which Scott sorted out quickly and we had a good natter with him at the time also. Although it wasn't a problem to us, if two couples stopped there, it might be awkward going through the bedroom to get to the toilet ! All in all a lovely stay with friendly and helpful hosts and we would recommend it and would love to come again.

The property is in a delightful place within the village with lovely gardens and a short walk to the shop and pub/restaurant.

The property is very comfortable and well equipped although a freezer compartment in the fridge would have been useful. Any issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently and we will definitely consider returning in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay The Old Schoolroom, just as we did last year.

Plenty of places to see and walk our greyhounds. We will be back just as soon as we can.

Well appointed cottage, quiet location but only a short drive to the A1, lots of places to walk the dogs, and a really nice shop and pub a few hundred yards away. Friendly owners, we will definitely be back!

Good secure garden for our dog, who loved playing with the owner’s dog. The welcome pack (including dog treats) was great. One of the best information packs we’ve seen for a long time!

Great cottage in a great location.

Ideal for a short stay for a family of 3 and a dog . Lots of added extras such as milk , bread , dog biscuits and much more. Washer and tumbler drier available in case needed . Owner was very helpful . Local shop and pub were great .

An ideal position to explore this beautiful part of England.

The cottage was cosy and comfortable and you are made to feel most welcome with some basic provisions along with some treats from the local area. I would definitely stay again.

Owner Clare extremely nice and welcoming.

Shared garden but we didn’t see anyone the whole time we were there which was nice. Lovely size too for our 2 dogs. Stay was perfect lovely location, quite area, clean cottage. Only downside was the closest takeaways or supermarkets were in Morpeth but we actually liked it, it added to the experience being away from everything. All in all, 10/10 would definitely stay again. Our third visit to this cottage!

All great as usual apart from flaky wifi a couple of days, but this is something outside the owners control. Longhorsley is ideally situated for trips around the county, and Morpeth is only 10 minutes away if you want retail therapy. Local pub does good meals also. An ideal spot to explore the county from. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful weeks stay at the School room cottage.

We arrived to a lovely welcome pack of essentials plus treats for our dog. The home was spotless and had everything you could possibly need and more. The use of the garden was lovely... you got to watch the village life go by over a cuppa of a morning. Clare and Scott go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and carefree making this place a must for anyone looking for a bit of Northumbrian beauty. We will definitely be returning.

This is a lovely little cottage in a peaceful location, which is also great for travelling around Northumberland across to the coast and the national park.

The Village Shop does lovely freshly made sandwiches and a great breakfast in a box. The welcome pack in the cottage was really generous with bread, milk, margarine, biscuits, fudge, apple juice, hand made dog biscuits and lots of bits and bobs such as shower gel, condiments etc. We visited Craster and did the walk to Dunstanburgh Castle, Cragside and walked up to the lakes, Wallington with its lovely walled garden and river walk, Druridge Bay which is a great beach for the dogs, we visited Amble and had a mooch around the harbour and shopping pods. All in all we had a nice relaxing break.

The garden was stunning my dog loved it,only thing missing was the games room ?? Claire was perfect host always on hand if needed,also gave us some great information on the surrounding areas to visit which we did. Longhorsley village is quaint friendly and spotless. Fab little pub which we visited often ,the walks in and around the village were fab. Thanks again Claire we will Deffo be back

Lovely cottage everything we needed and more lovely welcome pack which included biscuits, fudge and dog treats all sourced locally to help support local businesses, lots of information about the area and all well documented.

Great location, quiet village and lots of walks nearby as well as the beaches. Would defintely recommend this cottage and the owners Scott and Clare who live next door were on hand to answer any questions. Hope to visit again in the autumn.

The property is compact and has everything you'd need for a short stay. It is a great place to use for access to Northumberland's open countryside, beaches and places of interest. Will be back to stay in the not too distant future.

We had a good feeling about The Old School room upon booking and, my word, we weren't disappointed.

Where do I start - The building on this quiet little road, facing the walled vicarage has been around since 1751. We were situated in what was the old reading room. It was a joy to behold. Small, but big enough for the 2 of us and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Very well appointed for cooking (although we only had breakfast indoors), relaxation with many games stored away and topped off with Sky TV. The single beds were very comfortable aided and abetted with 2 fluffy pillows to sink into. We did a couple of walks from the doorstep and quenched our thirst and appetite at the Shoulder of Mutton, a must for Real Ale enthusiasts. The location is ideal for touring up and down the coast where we managed to concoct a few nice circular walks of varying distances. Morpeth, only 7 miles away, is a lovely clean & compact town with the Old Bakehouse off Newgate Street well worth a visit for a hearty lunch. It was our 4th visit to explore the beautiful Northumberland area and the The Old School Room will certainly feature in our plans.

The village of Longhorsley is an ideal stepping point for countryside and coast.

The cottage is well presented, clean and comfortable and has the added treat of gifts left by owners for users. Altogether a splendid place to stay

Property was clean and welcoming with high quality furnishings. The hosts provided us with very generous and yummy locally sourced treats to a level that is exceptional. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Really appreciated the extensive 'user manual' coupled with a plethora of local information about where to go, eat and have fun. Would come back in a heart beat! After a warm welcome from the owner Claire who left us a lovely selection of goodies for us and our two dogs, we enjoyed the coziness of the cottage with lots of basics for all our needs in kitchen and bathroom. Nice setting in a friendly village, helpful owners, excellent welcome pack.

No trace of previous visitors (or their dog!) …. we’ve been smelling dog at other cottages (not usually Sykes). Very convenient for visiting Northumberland- loads to do and see.

The cottage was a delight with every facility we could have hoped for a nd a most generous welcome pack. Scott and Clare are two top people who are so friendly and helpful in common with everyone else n this gem of an area. Local pub The Shoulder of Mutton a cracking pub with super food and very dog friendly. We will most definitely be returning!

The welcome pack was lovely. Scott and Clare were very friendly and helpful, giving us information on local walks to take our dogs. The information pack was very useful and well put together. We were very lucky weather wise and had sunshine every day. Would definitely recommend this place, couldn’t fault it.

Lovely little cottage in a prime location for visiting the area.

The only holiday let we have been in that had everything you needed, we have never seen so much crockery, utensils etc. The welcome pack was the best we have seen too.

The cottage was adequate for our needs, having sky TV with movies was a bonus.

We were met by the owner who was very friendly and helpful recommending local pubs and nearby walks and places of interest including local animal sanctuary with Wallabies camels, geese etc.

Amazing cottage perfectly situated to explore Northumberland couldn’t ask for more - owners go above and beyond would highly recommend - cottage was cosy, welcoming and very clean with a myriad of little touches that made you feel at home.

When we arrived everything was ready for us including the very kind milk, bread, wine and cookies, With it being the day before Christmas eve owners, Miss Clare Fielder and Mr Scott Percy had left 2 selection boxes on the children's bed and also a Santa hat which we thought was a lovely touch.

The place was beautifully decorated out for Christmas. Everything was available to us and really was a "home from home" Spotlessly clean and tidy, warm and cosy with a real cottage feel to it so well planned out, hard to believe everything fitted in two rooms ! Every possible electrical appliance you could want including hair dryer Even had a hot water bottle !! Loved it all and a real gem, fully intend to stay here again on our next property search stay cannot really praise it and it's owner's enough to justify our pleasure in staying here. The cottage was extremely well equipped and the welcome package was much appreciated - we were provided with basics, such as milk, bread and biscuits, and a bottle of wine and some dog biscuits for our two pooches! Clare and Scott were helpful hosts and the cottage was immaculate. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

This is a small but well equipped cottage.

We stayed with our two children. The owners are brilliantly helpful and think of everything. The location is a beautiful village with a wonderful local shop and pub. Also a great playing field and playground for youngsters - although the playground was closed due to Covid. We made the most of being between mountains in the national park and the beautiful coast. A great stay

The cottage is comfy and well-equiped and we had a warm welcome. Had a most enjoyable week there.

We really enjoyed our holiday and the cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean.

We really appreciated the free biscuits, milk and bread on arrival. The bottle of wine in the fridge was a lovely gesture too, although we didn't drink it on this occasion. A few minor improvements would have improved our experience: - somewhere to hang up our coats. - the sofa bed was pretty uncomfortable unfortunately. Alas, I fear this is just sofa beds, and it's no worse that others I have slept on. Mountains of cushions all over the place meant the place was very untidy in the morning. - we couldn't shut the bathroom window fully. - Because of the shape of the window the blinds didn't go all the way to the top and consequently the bedroom was very light. However, we understand that other options would detract from the lovely decorating. Worth bearing in mind if you or your children need darkness to go to sleep. - we didn't notice there was no dishwasher! Oops! These are all minor suggestion however. The cottage was well equipped, clean, and comfortable with a nice selection of books and DVDs too. It's a lovely village in a great location provided you have access to a car, and there is a lovely play park for the children a short walk away. Thank you.

the cottage miss having a bigger mirror there was only a shaving mirror in the bathroom and there was no were in the shower to put your shampoo and shower gel you had o put them on the floor of the shower there was no instructions on how to work the tv

Longhorsley is a great central location for seeing Northumberland being only 20 mins from Morpeth, Alnwick and Rothbury.

The Old School Room is small(ish) but perfectly formed and well run by Clare and Scott. Wholly recommended.

The whole process from choosing, booking, paying, arriving and finally departing was easy.

The cottage was beautiful and stress-free which enabled us to get on with the holiday.
