“We had a lovely stay in this spacious, warm and welcoming cottage.”

The beds are lovely and comfortable, as are the sofas. The house is in a lovely quiet location and enabled us to explore the area well. It was so nice to be able to walk along the coastal path and through the woods to Hauxley Nature Reserve. We also enjoyed a kayak expedition on the River Coquet and a delightful boat trip out to see the seals at Coquet Island. When we had a slight maintenance issue, we were very impressed by the speedy response from the owners, who addressed the problem on ...

“Perfect cottage for a family who love quiet beaches as we do - the cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed (downstairs wet room plus bathroom upstairs VERY useful) and the location is fantastic - less than 2 mins and you are on the beach.”

Feels beautifully remote but also has the advantage that Morrison's is only 5 mins away so dashing out for things we'd forgotten was no problem! Should just mention that one side of the cot was broken & wouldn't lock upright - was OK for our baby but an older one could have climbed out fairly easily so not ideal

“Great holiday home!”

Right next to the beach!. Nearby a lot of tourist attractions. Nature reserve just down the road. The only thing that the home would benefit from is possibly a tumble dryer. Apart from that we had an amazing stay!

“The cottage is in a great location for the large open beaches, walking some of the coastal walks and exploring the local area.”

It is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the extension which is light and airy. It is very quiet and we could hear the sea and the birds every morning. The small outside area just needs a bit of TLC to make it more inviting to use. I have already recommended it to my daughter as a good place for her family.

“This is a really lovely property and so very close to the beach which was why we chose it.”

It is very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and the tiny village of Low Hauxley is very quiet. We enjoyed some lovely coastal walks to Amble which has some good places to eat. Also worth a visit is the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre which is just a 5 minute walk away. They let you borrow binoculars too if you want to do some bird watching while you're there. There's also a lovely cafe at the centre. Just one small thing- we couldn't open the velux window in the upstairs bathroom as it was too high, and couldn't find any extractor fan for ventilation so we just kept showers very brief to stop it getting too steamed up. All in all, though, a great place to stay for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

“A clean, warm, and comfortable cottage with just a short stroll to the beach.”

A welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and a few cleaning essentials was nice to see as we arrived. We had an issue with the upstairs shower, which was very rapidly sorted out by the owner. Some people have brought attention to the overgrown field at the back of the property. As wildlife enthusiasts, we loved this. Lots of birds and insects, plus the rabbits. Hauxley Nature Reserve is a nice short walk along the coastal path, and is well worth a visit. Especially the cafe, make sure to leave room for the scones, the best I’ve ever eaten! Just a couple of things. It would have been much better to have mattress protectors on the beds. I was surprised not to have this, especially from a hygiene perspective. The duvets and pillows could do with an update too. Some new coasters and place mats would also make a difference. Overall being so close to the beautiful beach and view of Coquet Island is great making this cottage a good place to stay.

“Excellent location for all that we wanted to do.”

Love being able to have easy access to the beach and to walk to Amble. There is a good, comfortable space for socialising with friends and the kitchen has everything necessary for self catering accommodation. We had an issue with a broken bed which was immediately repaired and had no impact on our plans, so thank you very much for the prompt attention. We have already booked for September and are hopefully coming back next Spring.

“It was a lovely cottage.”

It had everything that we needed. A beautiful location. A suggestion of maybe some rugs or carpets upstairs as could be quite noisy in the night if someone used the bathroom. Also, the cleaning was only 97%. There were cobwebs and dust in the corners. We would book to go there again.

“We have stayed in many many holiday cottages and this is up there with the best of them.”

Lovely and spacious for our family of five, well equipped kitchen, and a very comfortable and welcoming home. Perfect location wise for our family, literally a minute or two’s short stroll to a lovely beach, which even our little 2 year old could happily toddle to every day. Lovely base to explore the local area, would hugely recommend the wildlife centre which is few minutes drive (or walk along the beach) away, and Amble which is a short drive away, with it’s little shops, boat trips and gorgeous icecream parlour! The cottage has a great wet room style shower downstairs (in addition to shower upstairs), which was massively helpful to shower off kids and wetsuits after every beach trip. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage, thanks for a fabulous start to our summer holidays!

Easy property to find and nice, quiet location for us to relax and explore to local area. Lots of walking but wish we'd brought bikes. Great proximity to the beach and house which had everything we could have hoped for being away for a week. Only downfalls were outside tap not the greatest for de-sanding after the beach, beds could do with upgraded and view from conservatory very overgrown..... however feel this was a communal feel amongst all the properties in the row. We've all agreed we would definitely return

“A warm, spacious accommodation in a quiet location and very close to the sea.”

Great base to visit surrounding areas of the coast. Loved walking along the beach most days. The sun room was ideal for relaxing and watching the wildlife. We encountered a slight problem whilst holidaying at Hauxley Links, reported late morning and the owners, Celia and her husband, couldn't do enough to help and the problem was rectified very promptly and efficiently. “This was our second visit to this property.”

Lovely house in a great location right next to the coast. It is spacious, light and warm and we particularly liked sitting in the sun room. Lots of walks from the door. The only suggestion I have is that there is not enough equipment in the kitchen for self catering. More crockery and cutlery is needed, especially if you want to use the dishwasher. The plates and bowls provided are also very small. Other than that we hope to return.

“Only fly in the ointment was on the last day, having to remove a Whole seasons worth of detritus from the Henry Hoover in order to use it, no spare hoover bags were available and it was absolutely rammed!”

“The property is very attractive and very warm - the underfloor heating in the kitchen and sun room is particularly welcome on cool days.”

In general, it's a comfortable and decently-equipped place. Although there's little to no noise from outside, or neighbouring properties, the property does generate some considerable noise because of the wooden floors that squeak and the cottage-style door latches. This may not be a problem to most but it's impossible to move around the house quietly, so if anyone's up in the night that could wake others. I think there could be more basic information in the visitor's guide. The wifi password is provided but the book doesn't say which wifi to attempt to log into. It may seem obvious about which dustbins to use for what but these vary across the country, so simply giving some information - and about putting bins out - would be useful. Finally, online info says there's space for one car, but there are actually spaces for two; these need to say the same thing. Overall, it's a lovely house and really well-located for the beach and the nature reserve. If you're someone who can ignore noisy floors and door latches then it would be fine.

There were great walks from the front door along the seafront in either direction.It was very spacious and spotlessly clean.The porch on the inside was excellent for coats and walking boots.The kitchen was well equipped for self caterers ( Morrisons supermarket is 5 minutes away at Amble) and the oven worked perfectly with good appliance information in the book the owners had left. We had glorious weather on a couple of days and the highlights were Low newton by the sea,craster,Alnwick and Amble.We would definitely return to the cottage especially in the winter as it was lovely and warm.

“As experienced self-catering users, as well as previous providers of self-catering units, this has to be one of the best.”

It was a cosy, well appointed accommodation, and contained everything we wanted for this break. The location was superb with wonderful sun rises over the Northumberland Coast. We managed to go for walks every day and it was great to return before sunset to a warm comfortable property and light the stove for a relaxing evening by the fire.

Superb location, you can see the sea from your bed and the sunrise and the stars - amazing - lovely walks nearby with bird sanctuaries close too - amble has a lovely market in Sunday’s and all the surrounding towns are great - Warkworth castle closes after 31st October though which was disappointing but the bookshop at Alnwick was incredible well worth a visit - even if it was to see the train track and have a coffee you would be amazed at the books there. Five stars from us gor the whole holiday - didn’t want to leave

Two bathrooms/wet room were a great addition with the number of people we booked for, invaluable when we were trying to get out by a specific time on a morning! About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged.
