“We very much enjoyed our stay at Castle View.”

It's a characterful property, with unbeatable views right up into the keep of Warkworth Castle. The beds were comfy. We also enjoyed some cosy time reading in front of the fire in the living room. The upstairs shower is pretty good. The rear garden is fully enclosed. Nice to have a separate dining room. Location-wise, all the pubs and restaurants of Warkworth are a short walk away. We had a good pub meal at The Mason's Arms, a sunday lunch at the Hermitage and a cracking brunch at Bertrams. I ...

I also used the evening dog walk as an excuse to visit the pub for a quick one. The Sun, (just a few yards away) does Hawkstone. There's a fab ice cream place called Morwick Dairy just outside the village. For shopping, there's a useful Morrisons in Amble (a few miles away). There's also a big Marks and Spencers in Alnwick. The local village shop is quite good for basics, but it has restricted opening. It's lovely walking down by the river here. As for the beach, oh my it's just the best! You can drive up there in minutes or walk. And if you don't like that beach there are loads of others in the area. Bamburgh beach takes some beating.

About the location

WARKWORTH

Alnwick 5 miles; Alnmouth 3 miles; Amble 1 mile.

Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
