Owl Cottage

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay celebrating my mum’s 80th birthday.

The cottage was quirky and provided everything we needed during our trip. Its location was very central and close enough to enjoy day outs including the local markets. Hopefully we will return again soon.

We had a wonderful holiday as a family of 5 at the Owl Cottage.

The cottage provided us with both comfort and convenience. The folder with the house and local information was very helpful to maximise our stay, visiting the famous and the-less-famous spots around Northumberland. The location was perfect; adventures practically at the doorstep with walks in the local park and the enormous antique shop! We would like return and explore the region some more.

I have never stayed in any other accommodation apart from hotels staying at Owls cottage was outstanding the interior was so clean everything was at hand and the beds were to die for thats the only way I can describe it also was very close for town shopping around Morpeth and surrounding areas i would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone who wishes to travel to Northumberland or just want to stay somewhere cosy and warm which owl cottage is l will certainly book it again as I didn’t get to see everything in one week.

Lovely cottage in great location.

Very well equipped and cosy. So handy for town and lots of walks straight from the cottage. My only complaint would be having to share the ensuite with second bedroom. Not very convenient during the night.

A lovely property, well furbished, clean and in a great location.

This was really lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable.

It was in a very quiet location, and yet only a few minutes walk away from the centre of Morpeth. A lovely base from which to explore Northumberland. I’d say the photograph of the sitting room didn’t do it justice - it was much nicer than it looked! We’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Thank you for the welcome pack, too - it was greatly enjoyed.

Regular visitors to Morpeth as our son and his family live there but first time to stay at Owl Cottage.

Is a great find, as it is so close to town and all of its amenities but is also an ideal base to explore more of Northumberland. The cottage is really charming, quirky and has everything you want for a short or longer break. We will definitely stay again and have already booked for next February/March. Thank you! Warm cosy comfortable cottage. Very local to town and amenities.

Owl Cottage provided us with a 5 star level of comfort, it was beautifully presented, very stylish with great furnishings and was cosy and homely.

Spotlessly clean and great beds, and showers, we had a super holiday.

Owl Cottage in Morpeth is a delightful, renovated 200 year old cottage, beautifully updated with modern kitchen and two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

We enjoyed our three night stay whilst visiting family living in the area. Thank you.

Absolutely loved this cottage.

It was in a great location, close to the town centre, and only 2 mins drive from two large supermarkets. There is a lovely park close by too which was great for us with two young children. The cottage itself was quirky, clean, very comfortable, and had everything we needed (literally everything, all the extras we generally take with us we didn’t need, such as, sandwich bags, cling film, foil, washing up liquid etc…), and of course the lovely treats left was much appreciated. Perfect base for some fantastic days out, including Bamburgh, Alnwick (Lilidorei - a must visit for those with children) and Druridge Bay. We also had a day out in Edinburgh too as it was only 1hr 15mins direct from Morpeth train station (10 min walk from the cottage). Thank you for such a lovely stay.

A lovely cottage in a great little town; we adored it and would happily have stayed for longer.

The welcome pack was really kind and much appreciated and we enjoyed the humour in the guest book and around the cottage. Clean, comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Owl Cottage in an absolute delight.

Tucked away in a quiet spot, but only a very short walk into Morpeth centre. The cottage is spacious, yet cosy, and there is a real attention to detail. The kitchen has every pan and utensil you could need, which I was really appreciative of. The outside space is lovely to relax in and is a real sun trap. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Owl Cottage, it’s fab!

This was our second 2 week stay and we look forward to another one next year

Loved this quirky cottage.

In such a quiet corner, yet only 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Couldn't find fault with anything. Really enjoyed our stay.

Great cottage close to the main town.

Loved the quirky things and the wee notes. Beautiful stone walls, felt spacious, very well equipped. Won't spoil for guests but thank you & the "secret" was fabulous. Would highly recommend this cottage and very likely to stay there again if in the area. Book - you won't be disappointed.

Owl Cottage is such a gorgeous place to stay.

As all the other comments say it really does have everything you need from a lovely food hamper on arrival with bread, milk, butter and some treats to all the helpful things like washing tablets, cloths and everything you need to make cooking easy. I grew up in Morpeth so know it well but always love coming back and visiting as there's so much to do.

Will definitely return. Forgot to leave a note for cleaner just to say that the back gate handle etc was broken when we arrived and we left part of the lock on the table outside.

This absolutely stunning and beautifully appointed cosy cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean, there is nothing that the owners haven't thought of to make your stay perfect, even the location is spot on, being just a couple of minutes walk to Morpeth park, the train station and the town centre.

Morpeth itself has plenty of restaurants and shops and is a great base for exploring the many castles, attractions and fantastic beaches of Northumberland (allow a full day for visiting Alnwick castle and gardens) Edinburgh is also just 1.5 hours on the train and well worth a visit. Highly recommend this cottage and would definitely return!

Owl cottage .

.... WOW !!!! The pictures on the website DO NOT do Owl Cottage proper justice, at all. It is actually much bigger than we expected and is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. Everything about the cottage is outstanding and every single detail is finished to the highest standard. We could not have wished for a better base, for our short break. Morpeth and the surrounding is just a treasure trove of interesting things to see and do.

Our family loved Owl Cottage.

The location was perfect for us, close to shops, swimming pool, play park and lots of great walks along the river. Not only was the location great, Owl Cottage is a lovely comfortable place to stay. So cosy with the fire on and a really well equipped kitchen. We will definitely be back :-)

A beautiful cottage.

Spotlessly clean in a lovely town. Everything was perfect. There is even a free car park across the road.

Owl cottage is exceptionally well provisioned.

A luxury stay in Morpeth with lots of high end extras - Smart TV, Alexas, Hue lighting and super comfy beds. Excellent location for Morpeth High St. We have a moderately wide SUV, and parking was fine right outside the gate. Heating was on for our arrival and alongside the welcome pack, we felt very happy on arrival. Lovely character property with plenty of information left by the owners who were in contact via text. Would nook again without hesitation.

When we arrived at the cottage, the owners had not only decorated with a Chrismas tree and garlands, but had also left presents under the tree, which was a lovely gesture.

The cottage was immaculately presented, a lot of special touches in terms of how well stocked, cooking utensils, bread and milk, coffee and tea etc. Not expected but VERY much appreciated. great location, fantastic cottage, we will be back. Thank you!

What a fantastic stay!

We had some essentials waiting for us on arrival, the cot and high chair was there as requested, the cottage is absolutely beautiful and to top it off we had a Christmas tree! We enjoyed a wonderful Christmassy weekend here and even had snow! We travelled with two little ones and the cottage was very well equipped for us with the bonus of smart tvs for when they want to chill out. The parking was not an issue at all - we just parked on a street round the corner from the property that you can see from the upstairs bedroom window. The communication from the owner was spot on and they provided lots of helpful info via text and also in the welcome pack with regards to eating out, things to go etc. The location is fab - you just walk over the bridge and you are right in Morpeth. We had trips out to Tynemouth, Newcastle and Alnwick which are all 30mins or less. You can tell that a lot of thought and love has gone into this property and we felt thoroughly looked after. We would love to return!

A fabulous, well equipped cottage that is perfectly located for walking into Morpeth town centre, the train station and for exploring the surrounding areas.

The owners have put a lot of thought into the cottage and we had a fabulous stay.

Everything about Owl cottage was excellent.

Parking was easy. Good location for shops and eateries. Decorated to a very high standard loved all the paintings and furnishings. Well stocked kitchen. Great front and back outside sitting area and access. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in and will hopefully return soon. Appreciated texts from the owner on arrival and departure. Thank you to Sykes cottages for good service and clear relevant emails.

Travelled early August 2023 with my partner and three grown up children.

Owl Cottage is beautiful and Morpeth is a lovely small thriving town and a great base for seeing more of the gorgeous North East countryside and coastline. The cottage is central and within walking distance to Morpeth town centre. The owners have thought of everything, a real home from home that we will definitely be recommending to friends and family and hopefully coming back to for another stay as a week was just not long enough to appreciate it.

The property is lovely.

Beautifully decorated with thought and care. It is really close to shops, bars and restaurants. There were really nice touches with such as shampoo, hand cream and body lotion and basic provisions such as milk, butter, bread etc.provided. We had a problem with the wi fi and the owner was very helpful. I would just say that if you have a bigger vehicle then park it on the wider road nearby. The houses were not built with cars in mind. Would highly recommend.

Good cottage but bad for parking

My daughter and I had such a lovely stay and absolutely fell in love with Owl Cottage!

The cottage is presented to the highest standard with beautiful decor and high quality accessories and essentials. The location is also great. We were able to walk into Morpeth and enjoyed two excellent meals at local restaurants. We were also able to head to Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle which were not too far away. As a base for exploring Northumberland, it is very good. Thank you for ensuring our stay was a wonderful one!

Amazing place to stay in the best town in the UK

We really enjoyed our stay in Owl Cottage.

It is a lovely, really well equipped cottage with some quirky features (a mystery front door to 3A at top of the stairs!). Less than 10 minute walk to Morpeth town centre and the Office micro pub a good find. As an old building it does have several bend or bump doorways!

The property was tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean.

This is a cosy cottage in a prime position for exploring and everything you could possibly need is provided to help settling in
