You can also take a boat trip from the seaside village of Seahouses, to the Farne Islands, where you will see an abundance of different birds including puffins. If its shopping you’re after, why not visit one of Europe's largest shopping centres, the Metro Centre in Gateshead which offers all kinds of shopping and entertainment. If you don’t want to venture to far away, you can take a leisurely walk on the unspoilt beautiful beach at Cambois, it is a hidden gem in the Northumberland Coastline, then head next door to the Charlton's Sports Bar which is run by the late Jack Charlton's son John. Jack was a famous footballer from the local town of Ashington who played for England when they won the World Cup in 1966; the pub is full of memorabilia of Jack's time winning the World Cup and when he was Manager of Ireland. The nearby town of Ashington is home to some very famous sportsman such as footballers Jack Charlton, Bobby Charlton, and Jackie Milburn; also, England cricketers Steve Harmison and Mark Wood who often frequent Ashington Cricket Club on match day.
