    “We stayed at Marmalade cottage over New Year and can honestly say, it is one of the most beautiful, well equipped & clean properties we have ever stayed in.”

We stay in rental properties every year, and often find the kitchen lacking in equipment, but this house literally has everything you’ll need. Enough wine glasses for a small army, which was great when a few of our family joined us for a few hours for our daughter’s birthday celebration. We stay in rental properties every year, and often find the kitchen lacking in equipment, but this house literally has everything you’ll need. Enough wine glasses for a small army, which was great when a few of our family joined us for a few hours for our daughter’s birthday celebration. We requested an extra bed in one of the upstairs rooms due to it being shared by our 20 year old and his friend - fully expecting a camp bed or pop up bed, but arrived to find a proper bed made up for them! There was no issue for the owner to provide this at all and we were very grateful. The beds were very comfortable, and individual decor in each bedroom was lovely. There was a power cut whilst we were there and within minutes, we had a call from the owner Sam, checking we were ok and had everything we need. She sent the maintenance guy round to make sure the new heating system got back up and running as soon as the power came back on. The welcome pack was amazing, and there was a sufficient supply of kindling and firefighters to last a few days for the log burner, which we topped up before we left. We have already booked for New Year 26/27 and cannot wait to return. It is our daughter’s birthday again whilst we are there, along with our wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t think of a more beautiful house to celebrate in. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we will be back soon!

Tucked on the outskirts of Seahouses in the attractive and peaceful suburb of North Sunderland is the quaint yet impressive Marmalade Cottage. This stunning property has undergone total renovation and with the owners’ creative yet careful eye, a quirky and stylish interpretation on traditional farmhouse oozes luxury and comfort throughout the house. The dramatic floor to ceiling windows of the open plan living/kitchen/dining/mezzanine area create the perfect backdrop for entertaining whilst all five spacious bedrooms offer a serene and calming escape at the end of the day.

Bi-fold patio doors extend out onto an extensive enclosed rear garden with patio furniture – another super space for relaxing with a G&T! Marmalade Cottage offers a completely unique holiday experience for families or friends holidaying together (including two well behaved dogs) and is within easy reach of all amenities including the extensive and beautiful Heritage Northumberland Coastline. Seahouses is a traditional harbour village with an array of restaurants, pubs and shops on your doorstep.

Bamburgh Castle is just 2 miles north with the expanse of golden sands and Alnwick is just 14 miles away where you can visit the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens. A bustling, pretty fishing village with an attractive harbour, situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seahouses offers a variety of shops and a good selection of inns, pubs and eating places. Nearby are miles and miles of splendid sandy beaches and the opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from Seahouses, is not to be missed. There are numerous castles and great houses to explore, such as the magnificent castles at Bamburgh, Cragside, and Alnwick (home of the Duke of Northumberland), to mention just a few. Golf, fishing and riding are also available locally.
