“The property was well presented, clean and well stocked with all the supplies you need to enjoy a relaxing break.”

My only reservation would be to check the step into the bathrooom, its quite high for little legs or old legs, other than that the property is very quiet and well kept. The owner couldn't be more helpful with all our requests.This is a great place to tour around this area of Northumberland and don't forget to check out the Northumberland cheese company, it maybe small but the cheese is amazing.

“Buzzards rest is a welcoming place.”

The garden is a haven of peace and I especially enjoyed random visits from a chicken, cat and bunny! Wake up to glorious views of the countryside. Tucked away from the main roads it's a real getaway. Our friendly host Margaret greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. I was sorry to leave.

“Beautiful location, follow Margaret's directions rather than satnav, but once found after that.”

About a mile to the nearest shops but a good welcome pack. Accommodation itself plenty of room, logs for the fire and well equipped kitchen. Double bed really comfy.

“A great stay in well appointed accommodation, easy access to a huge amount of local attractions, trains to Newcastle etc Comfortable lounge, grand dining room and kitchen all with plenty of facilities and in great condition, note, no freezer attached to the fridge.”

Heating is very responsive and quick to operate. The TV is a faff with the internet only access, there didn't appear to be any simple to access Freeview/FreeSat. Beds were comfortable, shower was great. Pillows are quite thin but comfortable, if your a pillow fetishist you may want to take your own. Where you park your car is under trees, it was a daily task to remove bird muck, it could really do with a car port in that area. There is an access gate which isn't in great condition which seems to serve no purpose other than to be inconvenient as the other end of the drive is totally open, it could be removed and just have a sign there for private access Overall a fantastic stay and thoroughly recommended

Thanks so much for getting back to us with your feedback points and recommendation. Just to note the fridge does have a freezer compartment attached at the top and all the instructions about how to access freeview tv etc. are placed next to the television, there are also extra pillows placed in both bedroom sets of drawers. The access gate adjacent to our car parking area belongs to the adjacent farm and has to remain closed at all times regarding both movement of livestock and no public access is permitted as it is a private road. “I was met on arrival by Margaret with a very warm welcome.”

Buzzards Rest is a beautiful comfortable home and it was well equipped with everything I needed. Beds were super comfortable, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep. The log burner was warm and cosy during the evenings. There's a lovely, well maintained garden. Buzzards Rest is a real gem in the Northumberland countryside. I highly recommend this property without any hesitation.

Fab cottage. Local eggs,cheese and honey a nice touch and very much enjoyed. Beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Ideally placed for visiting loads of places mostly 30 mins away. Whitehouse Farm Park next door great place to visit. Hope to return in future.

“Our first visit to Northumberland and highly recommend the area.”

Buzzards Rest a lovely quiet spot. Watching such a variety of birds eat the berries on the rowan tree in the garden, whilst we enjoyed a cuppa was really restful. An ideal location with lots of places to visit within a 20 mile radius.

“Buzzards Rest was superb.”

It is actually rather bigger than it appears from the photographs and all the rooms are really spacious. It was very comfortable, well-equipped, immaculately clean and there was even a lovely welcome pack of local produce awaiting us on the kitchen table. We intend to re-visit the area later in the year and Buzzards Rest will absolutely be our preferred choice.

Kitchen has absolutely everything you could want (apart from a tray). We were worried about noise from the farm park but didn't hear a thing. Perfect base for a relaxing break to discover the Northumbrian coast and inland.

“Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings.”

Everything you could wish for. Super kitchen with everything I needed and easy to work in. Cosy log burner with ample fuel made evenings so heavenly after a days exploring! The bed in the master room was so comfy, even for my very tall husband. Lovely host too.

“Buzzard’s Rest was a very comfortable holiday stay.”

It is close enough to the A1 for easy access to Northumberland, but remote enough to feel you are away from it all. There was a very nice welcome pack and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our host, Margaret made us feel very welcome.

“We had a fabulous stay at buzzards rest.”

The cottage was so well equipped with everything you could possibly think of and it was sparkling clean. The bedrooms were comfortable and Margaret even checked in on us to make sure the house was warm enough (it was lovely and toasty) as the temperature outside has started to drop. Perfect for young families, nice touches around like nightlights and books/toys. Thank you for a lovely stay!

“What a fantastic property!”

The pictures don't really do this justice. An amazing base for our summer break. Well provisioned kitchen (sometimes it seems like no one has ever actually cooked on a holiday house!), great ambience, lovely garden. Only fault is that the driveway is a bit pot holey, but you can use the gate at the rear of the property.

“We loved virtually everything.”

The only issues we had were 1. the shower floor developed a crack but Margaret immediately arranged a plumber to attend to carry out a temporary fix. 2. We found the TV difficult to operate. We should have asked Margaret!! So apart from these 2 minor setbacks, it was all excellent. The goodies pack on arrival was delightful and original The peaceful location that was just a few minutes from the A1 and nearby Morpeth The gadgets and kitchen utensils Comfortable bed with blankets to combat theNorthumberland weather The spaciousness of the cottage The wifi Perfect location for visiting the Northumberland and Durham areas of interest Upstairs and downstairs loos Private space for car parking

“Our stay was enhanced by the proximity of Margaret, the owner’s mother.”

She could not do too much to help. The property and gardens were a delight, well furnished, with the exception of the TV, a mystery to all. That clearly needs improvement, especially in rainy Northumbria. Didn’t think much of the local pub restaurants, but the farm shops sold excellent products. It’s a waste to miss out on the local attractions but this is one of the nicer properties we’ve stayed in and well worth experiencing.

A beautiful cottage garden where you can sit in the nice weather. There was a kind gesture of a welcome basket with cheese, biscuits, honey and milk. “A delightful cottage with a very well equipped kitchen.”

We liked the garden, please let the “rewilding” continue. The twin bedroom is perhaps best thought of as a children’s room; lanky teenagers might find it not for them. The owners were very helpful and friendly. A good base for trips to Hadrian’s Wall, the coast, Cragside, Hexham and Alnwick. Morpeth good for tourist information and eating, we had a delicious meal at Emily’s/PTMY.

We have just stayed for a week at this secluded cottage on the edge of a working farm ,very quiet ,nice little garden ,ample parking ,inside the cottage greeted by a hamper ,lovely crockery ,furnishings etc comfy bed with white cotton linen ,watch the step down into the bathroom ,easy access to the A1 ,Cragside house a must to see ,our only downside the car has to be moved for the nearest shop ,enjoy your stay

There is a kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, a dining room and a sitting room with TV and multi-fuel stove.

The bedrooms consist of a double and a twin along with a shower room and a cloakroom.

Outside, there is a large garden with furniture, a summer house and pond, as well as off-road parking for two cars.

WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Apologies, this is a non-smoking property.

Within 2.8 miles there is a shop and within 1.2 miles, a pub.

About the location

MORPETH

Newcastle 14 miles; Alnwick 19 miles.

The lovely market town of Morpeth is situated centrally in Northumberland and is an ideal base from which to reach the coast or countryside. Offering the remains of an historic castle, lovely parks, riverside walks, ancient architecture and churches and an old chantry with a bagpipe museum, Morpeth is also ideal for visiting surrounding attractions such as Druridge Bay to the east, with miles of golden sands, the vibrant city of Newcastle to the south, Alnwick to the north, with its castle and gardens and the National Trust's Wallington Hall to the west. There is also access to the Simonside and Cheviot Hills, with good walking amidst beautiful countryside.
