“The accommodation was spacious and comfortable.”

We had a problem with the electric cutting out one day, however, the maintenance men came straight away and passed the fault on to an electrician. The fault was rectified after a few hours.

“No 22 was perfect for our family stay - very clean, spacious and in an excellent situation for exploring the county.”

The enclosed garden was brilliant for the dogs and a lovely place to sit in the sun. We were impressed by the quality of the towels and bedding and the wealth of utensils etc in the kitchen. A small pan would have made it perfect. Thank you for our welcome pack and providing a lovely home for our really enjoyable holiday.

Pleasant welcome pack (including treats for the dog). We couldn’t find the visitors book and although the holiday pack was present I was disappointed to find a “QR” code to detail local services as not everyone has(or wants) the latest tech. to access this information. The air fryer was a great addition to the kitchen but there did only seem to be one, large, saucepan when a smaller size would have been useful. But these are minor niggles rather than being a problem - overall this is an excellent property for a relaxing holiday in great location which affords the opportunity to visit lots of interesting places locally and further afield. Looking forward to a return visit!

“We booked this cottage for a second time as our previous stay was very comfortable.”

Unfortunately on our arrival there was a huge temporary generator opposite the front door which was both deafening outside and loud on the inside too. I contacted the Northumbria tourist office immediately and was told by the lady they managed a number of the Armstrong cottages but were completely unaware of any electrical issues which I found hard to believe. I fully understood the circumstances but was promised that I would be contacted back by themselves or the owner. An apology would have been appreciated but never forthcoming which was most inconsiderate.(generator removed on the Wednesday). The property was very clean and tidy but is definitely in need of updating, the kitchen is in poor condition and the hob doesn't work properly. There are 6 windows which have blown, look dreadful and need replacing. A lot of money for not the best facilities. Sadly we won't be rushing back to this property again.

“We have visited this property on three occasions.”

We note that there has been absolutely no updating and refurbishing whatsoever. Everything is tired and on its way out. The bed in the ensuite is incredibly uncomfortable and the mattress is in desperate need of re-changing. The kitchen is no longer fit for purpose. The Oven was barely able to roast a chicken even though the temperature was whacked up to maximum and the fridge is literally falling apart. The carpet is coming away on the stairs and the blankets on the sofa and on the bed are very tired. The bedding has actually become uncomfortable as it is very old and there are knots in the weave. The pillowcases no longer fit the pillows and due to age the pillows are as hard as nails. The TV is no longer smart and is incredibly slow. To our knowledge it has to be 10 years plus old. The location is fantastic but sadly for £1714. The premises is not value for money. In its current state, I would not be able to recommend the property and in fact would encourage people to avoid it.

“This cottage was clean, well equipped , warm and cosy.”

Instructions to gain entry , manage equipment were clear. It’s location perfect, off street parking too. Welcome pack for humans and dogs was unexpected and appreciated. Garden was secure which was excellent for the dogs. Reclying bin was full on arrival, so not so good. Some issues with en suite shower. Other than that, we had a really lovely few days in this spacious cottage , thank you

Great to see new glass in conservatory this time. Lots of extra appliances in kitchen and everything you need elsewhere. Comfy furniture, warm and cosy cottage and couldn't fault it. Great for dog owners like us as plenty of room, good sized garden and close to beach etc

“Whist overall this accommodate was great !”

A few issues arose to lower my scores. Location fabulous and very well equipped for our stay.family bathroom toilet kept blocking. But maintenance team visits were done, but still seemed to be an issue. So stopped using that one. I mistakenly used the iron without checking underneath the black burned plate stuck to my top I was going to wear to go for a family meal. The iron was replaced when the toilet was checked. Also a filthy toasty maker was left in the cupboard. I cleaned it to use for the children and it blew the electricity. Lighting was a little poor as pointed out by another visitor previously. But on a positive note our week was fantastic and the issues I have raised we’re down to people not respecting the goodwill of the owners in providing such a well equipped property and not cleaning up after themselves! Cleaners can’t check everything. My thanks to the owners in providing a good service and my only other comment is that this week the booking is half the price of last. As the holiday rental for school holidays is extortion everywhere and needs to be capped as many families can’t afford to pay these premiums in the holiday period.

“Our first stay at this property and it was wonderful.”

A very spacious, comfortable and clean cottage with everything you could need. A nice welcome pack on arrival, and the dog, which was a lovely touch. Loads of board games provided which we made use of. We particularly enjoyed using the conservatory for breakfast and relaxing in after a day out and about. The beds were equally comfortable and great having 3 bathrooms with a 16 and 19 year old! The location is fantastic, being able to walk into Bamburgh was so convenient and dog walks every morning and evening on the beach just minutes away. Also a perfect base for exploring all that the area has to offer. We were blessed with good weather all week and had a wonderful holiday. Thank you!

Better than hoped, the property is well equipped, spacious, clean and has everything needed for a lovely holiday by the sea. The close proximity to the sand dunes leading to the wonderful Bamburgh beach is ideal for family holidays. It is also an easy walk to the Castle and village centre with its pubs, restaurants and amenities. We would definitely return to this lovely place.

“The holiday was great, these are things that you should know about.”

1. Cooker extractor fan filter needed cleaning, dripped a pool of rancid oil onto hob. 2. numerous dog biscuits found if objects on kitchen floor moved. 3. upstairs family bathroom shower cubical had human hairs all across entrance. 4. radiator outside downstairs bathroom missing thermostat control. 5. packet of matchmakers in lounge on top of book cabinet. 6. upstairs family bathroom sink plug seal defective, basin would not hold water. 7. kitchen light near rear door flickers when first switched on. 8. conservatory roof flashing outside twin bedroom loose and flapping noisily in the wind.

22. It is a spacious and very comfortable property with everything that you could possibly need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It is close to Bamburgh Castle, the beach and the village with something for all members of the family to enjoy. In addition it is ideally located to visit and enjoy everything that Northumberland has to offer. We will definitely be back and I would highly recommend this holiday property to anyone / everyone. I cannot praise it highly enough! So comfortable, clean, spacious and cannot explain how well equipped it is for your family stay. This cottage has everything you will ever need. Our family were staying in another Armstrong cottage but spent most of their time with us because ours was so fantastic. Fantastically situated, close to the beach and just a short stroll to the castle and village. We will definitely return! Well done Armstrong cottage no 22 we have had the best family time due to your thoughtfulness on providing an excellent, well equipped, comfortable home.

Would happily recommend! Wanted to flag that we stopped using the upstairs toilet as despite following instructions to double flush, it did not flush well. Also, we broke a glass as we were tidying up on the last morning so did not have time to replace - please advise if this requires any action. Armstrong Cottages No22 is an attractive, spacious cottage located on the very popular Armstrong Cottages estate originally built by Lord Armstrong for the workmen restoring Bamburgh Castle.

The property offers a home from home with space for all the family to enjoy the cosy and comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings.

Only a short walk to the village centre where there are plenty of pubs and restaurants and the famous Bamburgh Castle.

The cottage is only a stones throw from the dunes where you can walk straight onto the beach. ACCOMMODATION GROUND FLOOR Living room with Smart TV and feature fireplace. Dining room with dining table and chairs. Conservatory with easy seating and coffee table. Kitchen with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, bread maker, fridge, freezer, wine fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Bedroom 1 with double bed. Family bathroom with shower over bath, WC, heated towel rail and basin. FIRST FLOOR Bedroom 2 with king size bed and en suite shower room with WC and basin. Bedroom 3 with twin beds. Bedroom 4 with bunk beds. Family shower room with WC and basin. OTHER FACILITIES Externally there is parking for 2 cars to the front with a small lawn area and to the rear the is an enclosed garden with furniture.

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
