“Bamburgh is our happy place and we have stayed in many different cottages over the years.”

We had a great week in the cottage as a family of four. It is beautifully designed by the owner however it needs some attention in various different places. The negatives…… 1. Double bed in master. The bed has succumbed to come to wear and tear - my teenage son had to be careful turning over so not to dislodge the slats underneath the mattress. I reported this to maintenance during our stay. 2. Mattress in master has a ridge down the middle which makes you feel like you’re going ...

2. Mattress in master has a ridge down the middle which makes you feel like you’re going to roll out of bed. It needs replacing. 2. Front of cottage isn’t very appealing and needs some TLC. Weeding, removal of rubbish, painting exterior. 3. Clothes line is old and worn. It’s also part covered by the over grown trees making it difficult to hang washing out to dry. 4. Garden furniture is ready for the tip. We had to use our picnic chairs when sitting in the garden. We had lovely weather and weren’t able to dine in the garden due to the old and tired table and chairs. 5. Most of the windows don’t open. 6. The two cream upholstered chairs in the lounge whilst they’re aesthetically pleasing aren’t comfortable to sit and relax on. 7. Water escapes from bath making it near on impossible to bathe therefore we used the showers. The positives …. 8. Perfect location near the dunes 9. Beautifully decorated interior with lovely bathrooms. 10. Very clean cottage with well stocked kitchen. It would however be useful to have some plastic plates/bowls for young children. 11. Nice welcome pack which was very much appreciated. A great cottage! A few small tweaks would make it even better.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
