“Seahares is ideally situated to explore the stunning Northumbria coastline.”
Tucked away down a quiet street, the nearby small beach (ideal for dog-ball throwing) is within 2 minutes from the front gate. The cottage itself is gorgeous - the owner clearly has fantastic taste and a flair for interior design. We cooked at home each evening (the penalty of owning an elderly dog) and the cottage had all the utensils and equipment that we needed. The lounge area is really comfortable with as many cushions and rugs as you could wish for. The bed (we only slept in the one) was really comfortable and, after so much walking we slept really well. The bathroom is well equipped and has a very efficient shower. The enclosed area (for the dogs) is at the front of the house (where you can park your car) and there is no back garden and no 'views', but there is a bench table where you can eat outside if the weather is kind. Nevertheless, with the beach nearby and the long glorious beaches of the coastline from Bamburgh to Craster within a short (on the lead) walk or a drive, it is dog heaven. The area is of course steeped in history and you can get your fill of castles. We took a boat trip to the Farne Islands see the puffins and then the seals both of which were well worth the time...and drove to Lindisfarne - another 'must visit'. Many people had told us of the beauty of this area, and it exceeded expectations. We would love to come back and would definitely return to Seahares..
