Even a couple of hotel milk jiggers would have been welcomed. The ‘welcome’ hamper had 4 sachets of jam and a packet of biscuits which was barely better than nothing. There were no curtains in the bedroom other than a cheap blind which meant, as it is high summer, that we were woken up very early by the daylight. I would have expected there to be curtains to give us the option to cut out the light if we wanted to. The bed was very very soft which caused us broken sleep. There were some old flowers left in a vase on the table which were well over 10 days old and pretty disgusting by the time we got there. Apart from these issues, the flat was comfortable and cosy. The road noise outside was not too disruptive and the views were good. It was possible to heat the cottage which was needed in an unseasonably cold July. We didn’t use the dishwasher because there were no tablets left out for us. I discovered at the end of the holiday, having stripped the beds and left them outside the apartment that there is a box of supplies available which had more jam sachets and dishwasher tablets - I only found these as we were leaving. I would chose Sykes again as this was a quality cottage but I would have expected the points I have raised above to be included in a property costing over £150 per night.
Thank you for your feedback. I am delighted you liked the apartment , found it very comfortable and enjoyed the lovely views out to sea and across to the countryside. With it being a short stay we usually leave a few basics - apologies there was no milk that will be rectified and was an oversight by the cleaning team. I’ve never had any complaints about the bed before . I have stayed in the apartment several times and not found it an issue. I guess beds can be a very personal choice. I’ve even had comments on a lovely comfortable bed!
