Secret Kingdom Cottage

From the moment we arrived at Secret Kingdom cottage until the time we left, everything was beautifully perfect!

The cleanliness was exemplary and Angie couldn’t do enough for us. The cottage was in a lovely peaceful setting but also not difficult to find. The beds were super comfy and all the small details made it a joy to come back to after a long day exploring. I’ve no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to anyone.

What a great welcome by the lovely host Angie to Secret Kingdom cottage, lots of information about the cottage and the area.

A perfect start. We feel right at home and settled in well, helped by the thoughtful gift of teabags, coffee, milk, chocolates and fresh flowers. Immaculately clean, comfortable, very well equipped with everything you could possible need for a weeks stay. Ideally set for exploring the whole area, just outside the beautiful village of Warkworth with pubs and a few shops ( Masons arms good). We visited lots of places including Seahouses, Beadnell, Craster and Amble (lovely food at The Harbour Inn and boat trip out to Coquet Island to see seals and puffins). Our favourites were Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh and Alnmouth ( best beach). We cannot wait to return to Northumberland and would return very happily to Secret Kingdom cottage or bring family to stay at Manor House, their second property with more bedrooms and would highly recommend both. Great holiday xxx

Lovely clean accommodation.

The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with everything you could think of. Stunning views out towards Warkworth Castle and the sea and a great area to sit outside. We requested items for our children as per the listing (high chair and travel cot, toys were also provided). We instantly felt at home, lovely host and great location. Would stay again if we travel back to Northumberland.

What a wonderful cottage Secret Kingdom is !

! Angie and Frank have gone more than the extra mile in making their property a fabulous place to stay. We have stayed in many different cottages with different companies over the years but in all honesty never anywhere as deserving of 5 stars in every category as this. Comfortable beds are so important and this rates as the most comfortable ever - slept better than anywhere else, and so peaceful. If only we could bring all that home !! Can't wait to return.

The property was very spacious and comfortable and in a good location for visiting the lovely Northumberland area.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and added extra touches such as flowers, biscuits etc. This was one of the best Sykes properties I have stayed at

A great week with friends in the wonderful county of Northumberland!

Secret Kingdom cottage was ideal for our group, each couple having their own ensuite bathroom was perfect! Thank you Angie & Frank for providing a home away from home..... a peaceful countryside location but with easy access to main roads for travel around the area and within 40-mins walking distance of the coast. Would highly recommend!

Very comfortable accommodation with lovely views of open countryside.

You can even glimpse Warkworth Castle in the distance. Quiet location with ready access to amenities. Friendly and helpful hosts. Impressed.

Enjoyed our stay in this immaculate and well equipped cottage.

It had beautiful views to the sea and it was well placed to visit lots of castles!

This is a hidden gem!

It’s a well equipped and very comfortable modern cottage set in a quiet location - a perfect base to explore Northumberland from. We had an amazing week and were very pleased with our choice. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful holiday staying at Secret Kingdom Cottage.

The cottage was great, modern, clean and comfortable in a lovely setting. Angie gave us lots of information, we went to local beautiful places and we even went by train to Edinburgh to see Britannia. She also gave us clear instructions about our route and access to the cottage. She could not have done more. Thank you Angie and Frank

Lovely welcoming host at the secret kingdom.

Nice peaceful location and plenty of home comforts in the property. Our first visit to the area of Northumberland and found all the boxes we had ticked to visit and all within easy reach of our accomodation. Highly recommend this delightful cottage.

The cottage was excellent, beautifully situated and was bewtter than we expected, with all our needs catered for.

The owners of the cottage were very caring and nothing was of trouble to them

The cottage was fantastic.

We had everything you could wish for. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, clean, quiet, fabulous views, parking for two cars. Not to far into Warkworth. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only wished we had longer.

My partner and I were lucky enough to recently stay at Secret Kingdom for the 2nd time, having first stayed in 2021.

We absolutely loved our stay, delightful, clean and comfortable cottage well located. The owners have put lots of thought and attention into the property and are easily contactable if needed. Angie and Frank thank you so much, we look forward to staying in the future.

Great option for a large family/ friends group to take the two cottages.

Easy to walk down to Warkworth, which also has good parking options for the beach. Cottages are well equipped and comfortable, would highly recommend as a base for a week in Northumberland.

Lovely place to stay with beautiful surroundings, everything you need is there, beds comfy cannot fault anything.

Surrounding areas beautiful with plenty of things to do for any age all within short drives. Owners very approachable nothing too much trouble. Only request which is more personal one is maybe a small handrail for showers, if any one is a bit unsteady., but does not cause an issue as l am a bit unsteady and had no issues.

Secret kingdom cottage is a hidden gem.

Clean and comfortable with a touch of luxury, in beautiful surroundings. We slept so well in super comfortable beds and loved the peace and quiet. It’s great for two couples, no arguing about who gets which bedroom , both are the same and lovely bathrooms too. A warm northern welcome from the owners made us feel at home. It’s a delightful place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming holiday cottage near Warkworth, Northumberland.

Nestled in a peaceful, rural location, the cottage offered a tranquil escape with the added convenience of being just 10-15 minutes from nearby towns. The surrounding area is a treasure trove of attractions, with highlights including Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Gardens & Lillidorei, Lindisfarne Priory, Vindolanda, the Roman Army Museum, Hay Farm, a Farne Islands boat tour, and the Life Science Centre in Newcastle. There were also plenty of great restaurants nearby to enjoy. The cottage itself was spacious and well-suited for our group of four, with two equally sized king bedrooms and bathrooms, ensuring no debates over who got the better room! The cleanliness was excellent overall, though the floors could have benefited from a deeper clean. The kitchen was well-equipped with ample cutlery, crockery, and basic amenities, making our stay comfortable and hassle-free. The furnishings, including the beds and seating, were very comfortable, with plenty of pillows to ensure a good night’s sleep. The check-in process was seamless, with the host providing clear instructions about the key safe and even meeting us on arrival for a personal tour of the property. A handy welcome manual was provided, and the host’s communication was outstanding, checking in during our stay and before checkout to ensure everything was going smoothly. The only minor hiccup was initially finding the entrance, as the door was at the back of the building from the driveway, but this was a small issue. Overall, the cottage offered excellent value for money, and we would highly recommend it to others. It’s perfect for families, couples, or small groups, though a car is essential due to the rural location. The host’s thoughtful communication and the cottage’s comfortable, well-appointed setup made this a memorable and delightful stay.

A very well equipped, tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable cottage in a peaceful setting with gorgeous views.

The owners have paid great attention to detail providing everything necessary for a relaxing holiday. A lovely welcome pack was provided and we really appreciated the bunch of roses which lasted for the whole week of our stay. Northumberland is a favourite area of ours to visit, and this is definitely one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in.

A Secret Kingdom is just what it is.

A wonderful holiday home in a beautiful setting. Quiet and peaceful with lovely views. The accommodation was perfect in every way with great attention to paid to detail and furnished with great taste. All the modern conveniences of a home wrapped up in a luxurious holiday accommodation. A welcome basket and goodies was a special touch. Very friendly and extremely helpful owners complete the whole package. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to come to this amazing part of the world.

We had an enjoyable early June stay in Secret Kingdom Cottage which we thought very comfortable with excellent facilities.

Its rural location with easy access to, and views of the Northumbrian coast and countryside was particularly pleasing. The owner's were very supportive in making our stay as easy as possible.

The home owner was always available if we needed anything.

Her information binder on the table for new arrivals was excellent for content and information including instructions for using kitchen equipment as well as tourist attractions.

Very nice peaceful property conveniently located and with a private outside sitting area with views over fields and far reaching to coast.

Extremely attentive lovely host making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Good sized kitchen and comfortable beds. This is a great place to stay, we loved it. Arrival and departure would have been easier with a solid path to the entrance door which is at the opposite end of the house from the driveway, currently gravel. Cases have to be carried down the side of the house, not easy if this happens to be part of a month long international trip as it was for me. This was not discussed with our host although she very kindly offered to help at both the start and end of our stay, but sadly only after we had already carried everything. Less able people need to be aware, able to carry a distance or and pack light, as being single story, this property is likely to attract older guests. Overall a wonderful stay.

My parents and I absolutely loved our stay at the Secret Cottage Kingdom.

It was the perfect peaceful retreat to unwind and recharge, with everything we could possibly need. Tucked away in a quiet spot but still incredibly close to all the main attractions, it struck the ideal balance. In just a week, we packed in so much: from Holy Island to the grandeur of Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and the stunning Alnwick gardens, the fascinating Cragside estate, and even a boat tour around the Farne Islands—and that’s not even everything! The two en-suite bedrooms were a real bonus, making our stay extra comfortable. Every afternoon, we relaxed outside on the patio—such a lovely spot to enjoy the fresh air. Angie and Frank were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed, always on hand if we had questions. I can recommend it to everyone and def want to return.

Lovely location, nice and quiet.

A lot of thought has gone into deciding what holidaymakers will need and it has been provided. A great deal of attention to detail. Communication from the owner was spot one. The owners were present when we arrived and showed us around, nice touch. The information folder was very helpful as was the details about appliances and heating etc. The bed was very comfy as were the sofas Can fully recommend a stay at this cottage

This was the best place we had stayed in.

It had everything you needed, it was cosy, warm, quiet, and had a beautiful outlook. We could have lived in it permanently. The owners were very helpful and friendly, thank you Angie and Frank.

We had a wonderful stay at The Secret Kingdom cottage.

It was very tastefully decorated and the owners had thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need in the cottage. For instance, each bedroom had their own hairdryer! And the dressing table was near a plug socket which in a lot of properties, it isn’t! Anyone wanting a holiday in beautiful surroundings, staying in luxury accommodation, then I would highly recommend this property.

Excellent place to explore Northumberland.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lots of local information and recommendations provided.

Secret Kingdom Cottage is a wonderful place to stay.

It's modern, spacious, warm and comfortable. Things like the hob, oven, dish-washer, sink, fridge/freezer and cupboards are logically positioned and everything you need is there and easy to use. The property owners were very helpful and gave us some good suggestions for interesting walks and places to visit. We stayed for a week in January and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The lodge was immaculate and very well presented with absolutely everything you could possibly need (even a corkscrew) for a short stay.

The beds and linens were super soft and so comfortable. The heating system was brilliant and kept us nice and cosy even in the icy winds and snow. The correspondence with the owner was fabulous before, during and after our stay. The welcome gifts and fresh flowers was a lovely touch. We would recommend this lodge to anyone looking for some peace and quiet in beautiful countryside and gorgeous places to visit. We will definitely be back

My husband and I had a wonderful 4 day stay at Secret Kingdom, Angie, one if the owners met us on arrival, she was lovely, making sure we had everything we needed.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and was equipped with everything we could need, it was clean and very comfortable. It was a very peaceful, restful place, fabulous location not far from gorgeous beaches. Many thanks Angie and Frank for making our stay so we wonderful.

A very comfortable and clean property in a lovely area of Northumberland.

Angie goes the extra mile, to help in any issues you may have. There are lots of information about what to do in the area from Angie and Frank. A peaceful and well-loved property. A real home from home.

It was a lovely cottage.

So cosy and homely. Had everything you need for an amazing week. The views are great and waking up to amazing sunrises over the sea in the morning are special. Communication with the owner throughout was excellent. All in all it is a little gem.

What was there not to like!

I spent a bit of time prior to our holiday researching different locations and properties before settling on 'Secret Kingdom'. I am so glad we did - absolutely everything was perfect. I honestly, cannot think of anything negative to say about this holiday property. It has our (myself and wife) 100% recommendation. Spacious, well specced, clean and comfortable.....and very nice owners!

Lovely eco-cottage - clean, comfortable and well located as a base to explore.

The only downside was that we found the underfloor heating system complicated to operate and slow to respond on cooler days and in the evenings. We recommend that visitors attend the ‘training session’ from the owners.

We had a fabulous stay at Secret Kingdom.

The property was clean, modern and had fabulous views. Angie and Frank went the extra mile to ensure we made the most of our stay. They provided excellent suggestions for attractions to visit, places to eat and also provided a huge bag of toys that are our 2 young boys definitely appreciated!

Secret Kingdom Cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing break.

Great location, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, lovely outdoor seating areas, plenty of parking space. Angie, the owner, was really helpful. It suited our needs perfectly - big thumbs up from us!

Very comfortable with everything we needed four our stay.

Secret Kingdom Cottage is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Angie and Frank are the perfect hosts. The cottage was very well equipped in a very quite rural setting. Lots of information on places to visit and eat. We have no hesitation in recommending Secret Kingdom Cottage for your next visit to beautiful Northumbria.

A beautiful property, well maintained, excellently maintained and in quiet and convenient location.

My wife and I stayed for two weeks and loved our holiday in Secret Kingdom Cottage. There is so much to do and see in the area and with Alnmouth train station just 10 minutes away, catching a train to Newcastle and Edinburgh is very easy. Amble is just a short drive away with its supermarkets, restaurants and take aways and, Warkworth is a short 1.5 miles away or a short drive and we would highly recommend Bertrams for both breakfast and dinner. Angie couldn't have done more to make our stay happy and comfortable and we would highly recommend.

All 4 of us had a fantastic time at Secret Kingdom Cottage.

Clean, comfortable, modern and a great home from home for our week in Northumberland.

Lovely house in a wonderful location.

Everything needed for a self catering stay. Great space, comfy Sofas, great dining area. Plenty of crockery cutlery, glasses and plastic to use outside. Bedrooms both have ensuites, comfy bed and although no actual wardrobe there is good hanging space and plenty of coat hangers. Lovely outdoor area Consisting of table and chairs and then a sofa area, great views outside and in of sea and Croquet Island. Very private area and also great parking space for cars. The house is in a great area for Bamburgh, Alnwick castle. With Cragside and Wallington Hall (National Trust), Berwick upon Tweed. Warksworth is a lovely village with eateries, the castle and numerous pubs. We will definately be going back to this property

Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with even the smallest of comforts considered, e.

g. tissue boxes, cleaning products, tea, coffee supplied, as well as welcome chocolate, flowers and wine. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Northumberland to use this cottage. Only one slight issue with one of the showers, but communication with the owner was great. The property is a credit to the owners, the 4 of us had a lovely time, thankyou!

A very clean, comfortable and modern cottage.

The owner left wine milk, tea and coffee which was appreciated. We had a slight issue with the heating which was very erratic especially in the two bathrooms. The supplementary heating was useful in the lounge area. There was a delay in returning the good house keeping bond but it was resolved very amicably. The location was perfect, convenient for both Alnwick and Warkworth. Plenty to see and do in the area.

Excellent cottage in a quiet area

Uniquely designed, well appointed and ideal location for touring Northumberland.

Communication with owner, Angie, was excellent.

A beautiful holiday home in a lovely part of the country.

Clean, comfortable and very stylish, everything you could possibly want. Would highly recommend it.

Secret Kingdom is a fabulous place to have a holiday in Northumberland!

It is very well equipped in the kitchen and the property is spacious and spotlessly clean. There is a lovely welcome package with tea, chocolates and flowers which is a lovely touch by the owners. Angie is always quick to respond if you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to book Secret Kingdom you won’t be disappointed!!

Lovely comfortable & well equipped holiday cottage.

Really enjoyed our stay.

We were really pleased with our choice to stay at Secret Kingdom Cottage.

All arrangements worked perfectly, we met the owner who was super and gave lots of help and advice regarding the property and attractions in the area. The decor, fixtures and fittings were attractive and well thought out, everything being easy to use and the info pack was extensive just in case. The location is quiet and the sea view a bonus. Our holiday at Warkworth was relaxing, happy and memorable. Secret Kingdom Cottage is spotless and very comfortable. We hope to visit again in the future.

A perfect place to stay

Well equipped, very clean and comfortable.

Great outdoor space, fabulous views, peaceful and quiet. Great communication from the owner, would definitely recommend

Great place to stay

Open views sea views peaceful.

Access to local beaches.

We couldn’t fault this beautifully presented cottage.

The accommodation was excellent and spotlessly clean. A lovely quiet location, but easily accessible for local facilities and the beautiful Northumberland coastline. Highly recommended.

The best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in.

A warm welcome from the owner upon arrival. Good views of Warkworth castle and the sea. Worth spending time outside in the dark looking at the night sky. Well situated for access to many places of interest with many good places to eat nearby.

Really well equiped kitchen, lots of cooking dishes etc brilliant (could maybe do with a bit more cutlery) , nicely furnished .

Bed sheets and towels of really high quality-lovely. Lovely setting, easy parking and very attentive hosts.

Lovely warm and comfortable accommodation all on one level.

Nice quiet setting and glorious sunrises over to the North Sea. Would have loved to spend some time sitting in the garden area, but unfortunately October evenings just a wee bit cool.

A top-notch, exceptionally well-equipped and well-presented property, meticulously managed with genuine, personal flair by the owners, Frank and Angie.

This is a lovely cottage.

It’s clean and tidy. Good equipped kitchen. Both rooms en suite and a good size. A couple of miles from the small village which is a nice walk. There is a busy rail way line to cross so expect to wait for a while once the barriers are down. Central to get to most of the attractions, the view from Bamburgh Castle is amazing. Angie and Frank are there if you need them and respond to you quickly. Bond is put back into your account very very quickly. A nice gesture awaits on arrival so thank you very much it was much appreciated. If we are ever back in this area will stay again. Thanks again to Angie and Frank.

We had an amazing few days at this property, it was extremely clean and very well equipped in beautiful and peaceful location.

I really hope we will be able to stay here again!

This was our second holiday to Secret Kingdom Cottage.

Once again we had a super stay and will certainly be returning again soon. The cottage is ideally located for visiting the surrounding attractions, from the Roman Forts along Hadrian’s Wall, to Warkworth, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Craster, Lindisfarne and Berwick upon Tweed. The cottage facilities are excellent and Angie & Frank always make us feel so welcome. We would highly recommend a visit. Julie & Steve from Leicestershire.

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Secret Kingdom.

The accomodation was perfect and the house was so incredibly well equipped. It's in a beautiful peaceful location, yet close to Warkworth. Special thanks to the owners, who were incredibly helpful and absolutely lovely. We would definitely recommend a stay here and hope to be back at some point.

A lovely clean well presented cottage that has everything you could need .

The property is very well situated for visiting all the area has to offer . We would definitely recommend this property .

We were met on arrival by the property owner, Angie.

We felt, as soon as we entered, that Secret Kingdom was going to be a great place to spend our two week holiday. Even more so when we noticed a bottle of Asti Spumante, flowers and chocolates on the table that were for our pleasure and consumption. We continued to feel this way throughout our stay. The cottage is light and spacious, and is fitted with modern kitchen units. We wanted for nothing regarding cooking utensils. The bedroom had sufficient draws in which to place our clothes. There were enough hangers on which to place trousers, jackets and skirts. The bed was very comfortable for both of us. The two double bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with sink, toilet and shower with large shower head. Whilst there we slept very well. The area around is rural, so extremely quiet. The description of sea views could mean many things. I accepted we were one and half miles from the sea, so thought we might just see a bit. I was pleasantly surprised, when standing by the bi fold doors, to see a wide expanse of the North Sea beyond the tree line. Coquet Island can be clearly seen, whilst in the foreground, Warkworth Castle can be viewed. As light changes through the day, both change from silouettes to well defined structures highlighted by the afternoon, and setting sun. Landscape views stretch across fields for many miles with big skies. The patio is well equipped with rattan furniture. A table with four chairs, and two double settees. Cushions are kept in an outside cupboard. There are many brochures on a rack providing information regarding what to do and see in the area. We enjoy beach walking whilst collecting sea glass and bleached wood for crafting. Throughout our holiday we had contact with Angie when required. Her knowledge of the area is sound. This is not related to the cottage, but if you desire fish and chips once during your holiday, may I suggest the Harbour Fish and Chip shop in Amble, together with a one minute drive to the Harbour Road car park at 50p per hour to take in the harbour/sea view whilst consumption takes place. Would we return? Most definitely.

An excellent base for visiting Northumberland.

The property is comfortable and well-equipped and the owner could not have been more helpful. The required £250 housekeeping bond was returned to us promptly on the day we travelled home. We would certainly consider a return visit.

We stayed for a long weekend at The Secret Kingdom Cottage and we wish we had stayed longer.

The cottage is immaculate, so comfortable and equipped with everything you need. The owner, Angie and Frank, where extremely helpful and responsive to messages and left lovely little touches in the cottage on our arrival. We would definitely recommend this little gem and will be back in the future. Maybe in the summer months when we can really make the most of the lively outside area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Secret Kingdom Cottage.

The location was perfect for both the countryside, the beaches and some fantastic local pubs and restaurants. We couldn't fault the cottage. It was immaculately clean, very comfortable and was extremely well equipped. Thanks to Angie and Frank, and we will definitely be booking again in the future.

Description was incorrect.

It stated the cottage was 1.5 miles out of the village. It was 2.5 miles with limited footpaths. The windows were very dirty and also the sofas were uncomfortable and not properly cleaned. This is the first time we have had to pay a bond. We did ask for an inventory but the owner said she did not have one but there would be no problem getting our money back. After 2 days on return from our holiday she contacted us stating that we would not be receiving our full £250 as we had damaged the cooker that we never used. Will not be returning. This is our first holiday with Sykes Cottages were we have had problems. Always been satisfied in the past.

After lockdowns etc the attention to detail and all the extra touches that the owners had included in this cottage were noticed and appreciated even more .

They have done a fantastic job and we wish them every success in the future . The cottage is well presented and decorated to a exceptionally high standard . Angie and Frank are both very thoughtful and helpful . . It was lovely to be met at the property and shown round .We settled into holiday mode very quickly . The cottage is immaculate and wonderfully comfortable . It is a great base to explore all the local area from . We always enjoy Northumberland and we revisited our favourite spots which included Alnwick ,Alnmouth , Rothbury and Cragside . Amble (Spurellis boutique ice creams is a must :) .

Excellent property in a great location.

The hosts were very helpful

We had a lovely holiday in Northumberland.

Secret Kingdom is a superb holiday cottage and it is ideally located from which to explore beautiful Northumberland. There is so much to see and do, for all ages. Angie & Frank made us feel very welcome and we hope to return again very soon.

An excellent accessible cottage with very helpful and friendly owners.

We will be back.

Lovely warm welcome from Angie, also contacted during the week to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed and promptly returned our bond, lovely cottage with everything you need, very comfortable and spotless, built to a high speck and lovely comfy beds and good quality bedding.

Great walking area with lovely beaches , villages, coffee shops and restaurants. Look forward to returning Fantastic holiday , Thank you so much.

there was conflicting information from yourselves and the owner regarding removing the bedding and what happens with the keys on leaving.

Would definitely recommend Secret Kingdom, it is a fabulous cottage in a fabulous location.

So peaceful and quiet. Everything in the cottage was of a very high standard. Very comfortable and cosy! All you need and more. Angie the owner could not of been more helpful, a lovely lady who met us on arrival and showed us around and explained how to use the cooker, coffee machine( very important)etc! Oh and the underfloor hearing! Bliss. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back.

This cottage was absolutely immaculate and was in a beautiful setting.

We were made extremely welcome by the owner who showed us around the cottage and couldn’t have been more accommodating. We had a lovely week and completely de-stressed in the cottages relaxed surroundings. We would love to go and stay again and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Great location for exploring!

Property owners had good communication and provided everything required. Would recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Secret Kingdom Cottage.

It had everything we needed, very well equipped and modern. The location was peaceful but within walking distance of Warkworth and it's castle and pubs. It's also handy for the coast and the very beautiful beaches. Thank you for a great holiday!
