Perfect accommodation for my stay in Northumberland.

The property is easy to find with the instructions from the owners, and comes with everything you could need for your stay, even a nice welcome pack. Information provided about the local area was thorough and very helpful. Furnishings were very comfortable, I felt very much at home. The only potential negative, if you're a light sleeper, is vehicles on the A road can be a bit loud at times, but it didn't bother me once I got used to it. Highly recommend.

From the friendly welcome the moment we arrived, the spotlessly clean cottage with sumptuous bed, contemporary bathroom / shower, the well equipped, shaker style kitchen, and the lovely little garden with views across the valley, Dunkirk Cottage was a gem.

We had THE hottest days whilst there and the thick stone walls of the cottage helped keep us cool. It's also a good place from which to explore Northumberland and the Scottish borders whilst having beautiful and interesting places on the doorstep. A warm evening (or two) in the garden beside the river at the local hotel was particularly enjoyable, as was the evening of music in nearby Hexam Abbey. Thank you Mark and Nicky for a lovely stay

1 Dunkirk Cottages is lovely, comfortable and well apppointed.

Friendly hosts too ... thank you. The road a couple of metres from the front of the house is not mentioned in the listing. The house has wooden single glazed windows. Ear plugs helped dull but not cut out the late night & early morning noise. Ideal base for exploring the local area. All in, a good holiday, despite the noise we will probably book this pretty and comfy cottage again.

We had the most amazing relaxing break and could not fault anything about the property.

It was fully equipped with everything we needed. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were extremely friendly and accommodating the area is beautiful. We rustled up some lovely meals and even had one of them outside as the weather was great. One of the best places we’ve ever stayed. We’re already looking at returning as there was so much to see and do without a doubt the most perfect accommodation we’ve stayed in to date.

A lovely property in a lovely location.

The property is very well maintained and extremely clean. The facilities and comfort are second to none. We have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years but I think this is the nicest we have stayed in, and at an extremely competitive price. The owner even took the time to come and say hi, and reasure us he was there if we needed anything. The location gave us walking access to Hexham, Chesters Fort and the Roman wall. We had a fantastic holiday. Thank you.

One of the most comfortable cottages we've stayed in, and well provided with equipment.

The elephant in the room of course is the road only a few metres away, with constant and heavy quarry lorries passing by. You get used to this to some extent, but maybe not if you're a light sleeper.

Mark the owner absolutely welcoming on the day if arrival and if needed anything during our stay just knock. Close proximity to Hexham and there is so much to do within the area. We will be hiring the cottage out again in the future as we loved it so much.

Dunkirk cottage provides a wonderful base from which to visit Hadrian’s Wall and the many Roman historical sites.

The cottage was warm, clean and well equipped and very comfortable. Lovely views from the garden overlooking the valley and a walled garden. Friendly owners live next door and off road parking is close by. The cottage sits beside a main road with very limited pathways for walking from the property. A village shop, a cafe and a local pub are a few minutes drive away.

The cottage was in excellent order and basic milk,butter etc left for us.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay at the cottage everything we needed was there.

It’s a great base to explore Hadrians wall there is plenty to see and do. We also drove to the coast on a couple of days. We appreciated the welcome tray & the warm & friendly welcome off the owner. We had a wonderful week thank you.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage.

Our host was friendly and helpful, and we found that the cottage was well equipped - we could cook meals easily and use the dishwasher afterwards. The cottage was very well located - we were able to visit Hadrian's Wall and some of the other local sights. The only drawback was the proximity of the cottage to the main road and the fact that the cottage bedrooms are at the front of the property, with the result that we were sometimes woken up in the night by the sound of traffic. However by our third night we were used to this and not bothered by it.

The cottage is lovely and has every facility and comfort we could have imagined.

It is well located too for the many nearby attractions. Also there is a lovely walk (less than a mile) across the field down to the river to the village pub.

Lovely cottage everything you need.

Well positioned for sight seeing. Owners thought of everything. I loved the cottage. Walking distance to wall. One issue sadly some road noise, cottage is on A road due to speed can be quite noisy, not busiest road but traffic noise late at night and starts around 5.30am. Got used to it later in week but did disturb my sleep as I’m not used to road noise. Please don’t let it put you off.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely cottage.

The owners could not have made us any more welcome. Would thoroughly recommend this property and the surrounding area is really lovely. Corbridge is a lovely place to explore. If you want supermarkets, Hexham is only a short drive away.

A very comfortable cottage, spotlessly clean and very good hosts next door ( there if needed ) .

A very much appreciated log burner in the lounge seeing as we were there during Storms Dudley and Eunice - as was the very comfortable king size bed. Love the area, especially Corbridge - so found a very good location.

Myself and a colleague stayed here for a month whilst working in the local area.

The cottage has everything you could need and most importantly is extremely clean, warm and comfortable. The owners were also very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Extremely clean and well equipped. One minor issue for us was the soft mattress - much softer than we're used to which meant we weren't very comfortable in the bed (and we only have a standard mattress at home i.e. it's not that we're used to a particularly firm mattress). It's personal preference as many people had mentioned in the guest book that they found the beds very comfy - so just a warning to anyone who doesn't like soft mattresses. Otherwise a great experience - perfect for exploring Hadrian's Wall and Northumberland National Park.

Busy road to front of cottage not able to open windows due to noise.

Very clean and comfortable cottage in a great location.

Although located on an A Road the traffic was not busy and hardly noticeable. Mark the owner and his family live next door and are very friendly and helpful. Ask him about the riverside walk to the bridge towards the village. In the village we found a friendly pub, The Crown, that had a good selection of local beer and they had great quality food. Northumberland is certainly a hidden gem, beautiful countryside, forests, moorland and spectacular beaches. Hardly anyone around!

Excellent cottage very well equipped and in a great location for everything Northumberland.

We read in previous feedback that the road immediately outside the cottage was noisy, well surprise it is but it did not detract from our stay. Would defiantly recommend

Nice cottage in a good location for Hadrians Wall and some good local walks.

Located alongside a fairly busy road but nice views from the small enclosed rear garden. Just about clean enough but we didn't feel any particular additional effort had been made taking into account the current Coronavirus situation. However overall we enjoyed our week there.

A lovely convenient cottage, which ticks all the boxes.

It is close to Hadrian’s Wall, near a good pub in the village and within range of many Northumbrian attractions. In this time of lockdown we felt completely safe, as it was really clean and well looked after. There was a warm welcome when we arrived, with extra homemade jams, bread, milk and butter, as well as hand sanitiser too. The shower was great and the fixtures and fittings simple and comfortable. This is a gem of a cottage in a beautiful part of the world.

It is well situated, especially if you are interested in Hadrian's wall and Roman remains, they are only a few minutes drive away! The wecome package in the kitchen was a lovely surprise. We are already planning a return visit.

A Well appointed property.

Presented in excellent condition .Situated in an ideal location for exsploring the surrounding countryside,particularily Hadrians Wall.Topped off by a friendly and helpful hosts Mark and Nikki.

The property is well situated for exploring the Hadrian's Wall and Kielder Water areas.

The owner was very helpful in providing his garage as a place to store our bikes. Very nice property with lovely wooden beams and decor, but with one or two minor niggles. The property is largely lovely, but the temperature inside is very inconsistent because of issues with doors. There is no kitchen door and the dining table is right by the open doorway, next to the front door. This means it is a cold and draughty place to eat (though it would be fine in summer). The lounge door also does not quite close as there seems to be an issue with the hinges, which makes it a bit hard to heat in the evening. By contrast the upstairs rapidly overheats and can easily be too warm to sleep unless you remember to turn the upstairs radiators off early enough. I would suggest that the owner fits a kitchen door and attends to the hinges on the lounge door; apart from the comfort of the guests I suspect this would result in a substantial saving in heating costs. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge which would probably make the lounge warm even with the door problem, but not being familiar with how to use one I did not attempt to. Anyway fixing the door would render it largely unnecessary.

Dunkirk cottage was perfect.

Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, very warm. A welcome basket with bread, butter, milk , jam & marmalade was a lovely welcoming gesture. The cottage was extremely well situated for visiting all the main Roman Sites. Perfect

We absolutely love Dunkirk Cottages - very comfortable accommodation with excellent facilities (good WIFI, connected Smart TV, high quality bedding, everything you could need in the kitchen).

A real home from home.

A smashing cottage in a decent spot for exploring Northumberland.

For example, if you are interested in Hadrian's Wall you have the perfect spot to start following it both ways. Some decent little pubs/hotels in the surrounding villages with the larger Hexham and Corbridge close by, lovely places, full of history. I have visited Northumberland/County Durham many times, stayed all over and I must say this cottage is up there with the best for comfort etc. and location. Recommended.

This was a fantastic cottage, very comfortable and the first cottage to provide decent WiFi and smart television facilities.

Further research by us would have revealed no rear garden, disappointing as there’s nowhere for the kids to play outside. The small stone terrace with a table and chairs on the front does not justify a “garden” in my opinion. This stone terrace also happens to be a few metres from an unrestricted A road, and the traffic flies past at ridiculous speeds making it very noisy inside the house at times. A fantastic property let down by its location and lack of garden.

1 Dunkirk Cottage was an excellent well equipped & comfortable cottage.

A nice Welcome Tray of Milk, Butter, Bread, Tea, Coffee etc was a lovely bonus. The only downside was not enough garden area to sit outside and enjoy a drink or eats. There was easy access to all the places we wanted to visit on our holiday.

We went in to Northumberland in very cold weather although the cottage was warm enough.

its location is on a main road and the traffic noise could be a distraction particularly in warmer weather with the windows open.
