Riverbank Cottage

Amazing place and stay , we loved it all just a bit let down when we was packing up the cleaning turned up 15-20 mins before and didn’t even say hello Lucky we had put dogs in car and my little girl was with grand parents but it was a it didn’t leave us with a good thought on the end of our holiday xx

Clean,compact,comfortable quirky cottage in the wonderful village of Alnmouth, lovely views of the river from the upstairs living room, nice welcome pack,tea bags,coffee sachets etc,no parking space,which isn't a problem when the village is quiet, we managed ok,Would deffo use the cottage again.

Only issue was with the instructions for putting the bins out.

The information pack stated 'designated place' which meant nothing. The cottage is down a narrow lane. We tried to see where others were putting their bins but this was not obvious and consequently the bn emptying was missed despite us being in the cottage and listening for the bin lorry. Minor and we may have not looked properly buy no bottle opener in the cottage. Really enjoyed our stay cottage is very comfortable and good location.

We loved our stay at Riverbank cottage, lovley to return after a day out, and have all the facilities to be able to cook, then sit and enjoy the lovely views from the living area.

We also had some sunny days so enjoyed sitting in the small courtyard area.

The property was lovely and well stocked, even down to treats for the dogs, a nice touch with the Christmas decorations.

Overall the cottage was really good, location, views and accommodation. We had a problem with the boiler packing in a few times, which we were advised maybe a problem but didn't want to call anyone out on Christmas day. Luckily my husband knew what to do so fixed it. We also couldn't get the shower hot enough. I would recommend guests check the gates are shut if letting any dogs out, as a maintenance person in the adjoining property left them open a few times. Not a fault of our owners but just to be aware. For future guests.

A lovely cottage with period charm and great river views of the boats at Alnmouth, saw some great winter sunrises and sunsets.

Place was cosy and warmed by a stove set within a beautiful marble fireplace. Beds were very comfortable. Local shop stocks everything and cafes and pub good food. Thankyou and we will be back!

Lovely cottage.

A lot of care and thought has obviously gone into creating such a welcoming, comfortable place to stay. It had everything we needed and more for our holiday. The only let down for us was that the boiler broke on our last evening, however the log burner came to the rescue!

Great location and views, downside was second bedroom damp smelling.

Good kitchen and lounge. Shower could do with higher water pressure! We enjoyed our stay.

Lovely accommodation, great views from upstairs over the estuary, kitchen well equipped, loved the stain glass windows in bathroom, lots of character & charm!

Brilliant location for beach walks, lots of eateries on your doorstep, had a relaxing break thank you!

Well presented & great beds! Looses one star for noisy & squeaky taps ! Made me feel like I had tinnitus! But otherwise a gd stay. Thank you

Lovely place to stay, really good location, got some exrta we never thought to take , picnic blanket- we took to Pub next door for out little girl to play out, beach not far away for doggy to have a swim and the baby gate was a life saver not only for baby but for doggy aswell xxx

Absolutely loved the living room/kitchen area!

So nicely decorated and really well stocked kitchen. Beds were comfy (though foot board wouldn’t work for tall folk!). Location excellent. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely little cottage, pictures don’t do it justice!

Bedrooms are a little small for manoeuvring around but lovely comfy beds, bedding & pillows. Plenty of towels (so many places only proved 1 hand towel

What would of been good is a dishwasher and apart from that not a bad holiday home might be returning at a future date

Lovely cottage with a superb location.

Everything promised was present and the property was comfortable with good facilities.

However, frying pan was very greasy and saucepan soiled. Vacuum cleaner had not been emptied (for months by the look of it!). We did know beforehand but parking is a nightmare is Alnmouth and we will not return to stay there for that reason alone. Our son was so frustrated at not finding a parking place that he moved to an AIRB&B in Alnwick on day 2.

We have stayed here before and love it.

Right at the heart of the village and next doorto our favourite pub. The fire alarm needed replacing whilst we were there - a man came on Thursday and took the old one away saying he would return the following day with a replacement but it had not happened by the time we left on Saturday - hope this gets sorted...

Lovely cosy cottage & ideally located for beach trips.

Managed to find plenty of parking around the village.

The holiday property was fine, but we were not impressed with Sykes Cottages Customer Service.

We rang on the Monday (20th May) to ask how to get the central heating and heated towel rail working; we were put on hold while (we were told) the assistant tried to contact Northumbria Coast and Country Cottages. However we held on for 15 minutes (at the very expensive mobile phone rate) but then gave up as your assistant had still not got back to us. (I would have thought it was standard procedure to come back to us after a minute or two to update us on progress, but apparently not so at Sykes Cottages!) The next day we discovered that Northumbria Coast and Country Cottages was just round the corner from our cottage in Alnmouth: surely your assistant could have told us this on the Monday? We then popped in to Northumbria’s office, and their staff were very helpful and sorted it; however the gentleman we spoke to told us that Sykes Cottages had not rung them till the Tuesday, so goodness knows what your assistant was doing during the quarter of an hour I was kept hanging on on the Monday! IT REALLY IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Poor information about lack of on street parking would have been a real disappointment for less mobile guests.

However the beauty of the surrounding area and other locations made up for the initial annoyance.

Fabulous accommodation providing everything possible to set us up for a comfortable holiday.

The cottage is in the ideal location with great views and easy access to the amenities in Alnmouth and the surrounding area. Just the place to relax, to enjoy great hospitality in the local pubs and to exercise ourselves and the dog on the many expanses of beaches along the coast. Absolutely first class. Thank you

We enjoyed our stay in RBC.

We enjoyed the upstairs living room with the estuary views. The house is well enough equipped. We slept well. Alnmouth is a great base to explore the beautiful Northumberland coast. The house notes could have been more helpful re parking. We opted for the grassy verge on the road into the village from the bridge. Also the photo of the front entrance is dated which was a little confusing.

We loved our stay at Riverbank Cottage, it was so cosy and comfortable.
