Perfect base for exploring Northumberland. Parking not available at the property but plenty of free parking just down the road. We really appreciated being able to turn the heating on as and when we needed it as it was unseasonally cold and very wet outside.

“Absolutely loved our stay at Castle View, Alnwick!”

The apartment was lovely…tastefully decorated, furnished and spotlessly clean ! The welcome pack was much appreciated with milk, coffee, tea etc. Nigel and Gillian (owners) have thought of everything! Location ideal with lots of excellent restaurants and quaint pubs just minutes from the property. Stunning places to visit including Alnwick Castle, Craster and Cragside to name but a few! Would recommend joining National Trust as there are so many places within a short radius of Alnwick! We’ll definitely be back!

“A well thought out apartment very comfortable.”

Parking maybe an issue at busy times. The communal area could have a little attention. Abit of noise and swearing from the neighbours. Maybe the apartment could have a little drying rack for wet gear. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at Castle View.

Yesterday I spent a few hours tidying up the shared courtyard - the weeds have now gone, it's once again a nice place to sit and have a coffee or lunch when the weather permits. We will ensure we keep on top of that going forwards. Apologies for the noisy neighbours, unfortunately I don't have a lot of control over who stays there, but I will mention it to the owners, and ask them to remind their guests to respect their neighbours. “Great stay in an extremely clean, beautifully decorated apartment.”

Very comfortable sofas and bed. Kitchen had everything we needed. The large shower room had a great shower. We have been holidaying in cottages for 35 years mostly twice a year, this apartment is well up there in our top 10. We hope to be back soon.

“The location of the apartment, right in the centre of Alnwick, was perfect for what we required.”

All facilities were within walking distance and spoiled for choice for places to eat out. An excellent night's entertainment was had at the Playhouse whilst we were there. Very good quality items in the apartment was much appreciated, as was the pre-arrival information sheet provided by the owners. Found the best place to park overnight, free of charge, was in the Greenwell Road Public Car Park "E", approx a 5 minute walk to the appartment. So much to do in the area that we'll certainly be back again soon....

“The property was very comfortable, well equipped and the location was spot on.”

We were pleasantly surprised and very grateful for the Easter goodies left for us! The kitchen had everything we needed. The TV and soundbar was great quality and living room a generous space - bigger than it seems on the pictures (which were a little annoyingly zoomed in on very close details). The bed was comfy. The bathroom has been done nicely and I was grateful for the shower cap provided which I needed to keep my hair dry in the waterfall shower! We did find the warm water ran out a couple of times although wasn't too much of an issue as it was at the end of a second daily shower. Could do with some wall/back of door hooks for towels/clothes. The top lights throughout are extremely bright and the apartment would probably benefit from some more low level lighting/floor lamps in the kitchen and living room. Thanks for a lovely stay in Alnwick! Recommend Harry's Bar for good beer selection and buzzing atmosphere and the cafe in Barter Books!

“Fabulous stay at Castle View, great location for pubs and restaurants.”

The apartment was very classy and spacious. Liked the welcome pack pdf sent via email prior to travelling (prefer this, better than waiting to read it in a folder when you get there), also got a text on the way to tell us the apartment was ready for us. We holiday in Northumberland a lot (usually out in the sticks) and it was great to explore by car during the day (everything is so close, Bamburgh, Craster, Alnmouth, etc.) then park up on our return and head to the pub for a drink (take your pick) then a short walk back to the apartment or on to a nice restaurant. Will recommend to friends.

Parking, although somewhat 'tight', we did not experience any real problem. We have visited Alnwick on a number of occasions over the years and rented various properties in different parts of the town and found Castle View to be the best suited to our needs..

Hello, and thank you for your comments, we are always keen to learn from constructive feedback to make future guests stays even better. We know you were disappointed with your holiday - spending 10 of your 14 days in self isolation and unable to leave the apartment wasn't what you had planned, so that's understandable. Regarding car parking, we gave a number of suggestions as to where you might park, but as these are public roads we all need to park respectfully with consideration of the other road users. None of those suggestions would have blocked the road, unless you have an unusually large car. For the shower we provide a non-slip rubber mat for our guests' use should they wish to do so. We do have a full sized hot water cylinder, so we're not sure how you ran out of hot water - there should be plenty for 2 people to have a shower of a morning. However, we will consider installing a hand rail. We do have a tumble drier in the appartment if you need to dry clothes Property Owner

“We loved our stay at Castle View!”

Amazing location and some lovely restaurants; definitely try the Pig in Muck and The Dirty Bottles Pub which have some great cocktails and yummy food options. Ideal location to get to other spots like National trust Cragside, Bamburgh Castle, Alnmouth and Seahouses, without more than a half an hours drive. The flat itself is pristine and really well decorated, a holiday let to be proud of. Only minor issue was that the entrances seem to get stuck sometimes even when the correct code is entered and my boyfriend had to climb the very high wall to let us in form the inside which was a bit of a pain.

“We had a wonderful stay at Castle View, the location couldn’t be more central, with great access to restaurants, pubs, the castle and gardens.”

Within a short drive, you can get to Almouth beach and lots of lovely coastal walks. This is one of the most high-quality holiday cottages we’ve stayed at. The decor is so modern and it’s extremely well-equipped. If I had the choice, I’d move in tomorrow! The owners were excellent at communicating with us about when the accommodation was ready for us and sent out a really helpful guide to Alnwick and Castle View. I can’t say enough good things about Castle View and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!

The interior has been thoughtfully designed with a well equipped kitchen, stunning shower room and spacious lounge with sumptuous carpet and great sized TV (often overlooked in holiday cottages). Only criticism is the shared outside space looked a little lacking in attention.

“Loved the place, great location.”

Kitchen really well fitted if a little “ cluttered “ on work surfaces- microwave / toaster/ kettle on the large side- but all good quality. A shelf of some sort in the bathroom to place toilet bag would be handy, and, perhaps, a shelve in the wardrobe above the hanging rail would offer space to store bags etc. These are just very, very minor suggestions and not criticisms at all.

It was clean and well appointed. Guests will need to bring slippers as they are requested to remove their shoes in the sitting room and as the shower is an over head one shower caps may be needed. We would definitely stay here again

It is very well equipped , has good heating and a super walk in shower. The stairs were an "experience" as we live all on one level but good exercise for us both. The rear parking are is well tucked away but right by the back door when you find it. Once everything is fully open again, there will be many eating and drinking places within a few steps.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market.
