The Old Stables

We have visted this cottage,several times over the last 2 years.

Clean tidy with everything you could wish for self catering. Lack of a garden is not an issue as the cheviot moors and many beaches offer all the space for sitting out you could ask for. The local church is dog friendly and offers plenty of grass in the churchyard for dog walking and is 2 minutes walk from the old stables. The locals are all friendly. There is a brilliant fish and chip shop,John Dory opposite very well stocked co op for your breakfast supplies and more,again both only 2 mins walk from the old stables. Further afield,Ford and Etal have a lovely peaceful stream,Cockawburn beach at Berwick, wild cattle at Chillingham,Bamburgh castle and beach,seahouses harbour and boat trip to the Farne islands plus Alnwick with castle and Barter books plus fabulous Morwick icecream,these are all great places. Had another wonderful relaxing time A1 provided great links to the accommodation and everywhere just mentioned.

The property was fine in everything except the bed, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep on.

We actually came home early due to my husband and I not sleeping. I would also point out the throw ,cushions, and rug are disgusting they smell so BAD. I have never left a review like this in my life, and hope never to again.

Nice enough but I feel that we chose wrong.

It was much smaller than expected. Parking was often a problem also. The village is very well situated and nice with friendly people. The area is so scenic and beautiful.

Lovely little cottage in quiet location, excellent amenities, great for sightseeing around the area.

The property was excellent condition, there was a welcome tray of teas coffee and chocolates and milk in the fridge, it was very spacious for a small cottage and had everything we needed for the stay, It was in a very quite , it is in a grate position for the village high street, and a great base for exploring the area with the main A1 only a shot drive away

'The Old Stables' is my favourite place to stay in Belford.

With its comfortable sitting and sleeping areas, relaxation is very easy. The Kitchen, though compact, is fully equipped, as is the Bathroom. The pine Bed is very comfortable and there is plenty of drawer space plus a hanging rail for Coats and Jackets in the Bedroom. I was easily able to park my car opposite and thoroughly enjoyed coming 'home' after a full day on the fabulous beaches. I highly recommend 'The Old Stables' to you.

A lovely cottage in an excellent location.

Near to pubs and shops but still nice and quiet. The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable.

The property was very clean and well maintained, everything we needed was there.

Great position with walking distance to the pubs, supermarket, village shop and community shop. It would have been handy to have a note of when the bin collections were, we felt bad about not putting the recycle bin out. We would defiantly book this property again.

We had an enjoyable and comfortable stay, and the Old Stables had everything we needed.

It is set in a friendly village, with shopping facilities and a welcoming pub only minutes away. It made a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area - both the coast and the hills. Highly recommended.

Your description of property was accurate. Thank you. The lack of ventilation is a problem. Decar a little tired, but everything was in perfect working order. Such a silent area it was almost unreal!

Property situated in close proximity to other properties & the access lane is busy with neighbouring vehicles.

Property details as pet friendly, unfortunately the only door to the front of the property opens directly onto the street, which requires vigilance regarding pet safety. Also the property information booklet states a pet can’t be left alone in the property. Despite having crate & exhausted dog from lovely walks, we were unable to leave our pet for a short period of time. Our trip included a celebratory meal, which we had to cancel due to this situation. Very disappointed to say the least! Left property day early. Our suggestion would be to consider taking pet friendly off booking site or include all conditions In booklet on booking site to inform potential rentals of restrictions.

Small two roomed cottage, extremely well equipped and very clean.

Sachets of tea, coffee and biscuits laid out for our arrival was a nice touch. Comfortable bed and great shower room. The kitchen/ living area was combined, personally I found it hard to relax in the evening as it didn't have the cosy feel I like. Parking wasn't always easy in the narrow street but we managed ok.

Parking was difficult during our stay as there was a scaffolding truck taking spaces with other vehicles.

As for the property itself there were two problems with it. The main one being ventilation especially as we were blessed with good weather. It was incredibly hot during the night and was difficult to sleep. I've noted previous comments from the owner a couple of years ago that the possibility of a fan may be installed but it hasnt been. It would be a great help. Secondly other comments mentioned the bathroom sink and the cupboard above it making washing ridiculously difficult. We liked the location and we visit Northumberland every year so we had a great week in one of our favourite parts of the UK..

The cottage was very cosy, welcoming and modern.

It had all you need to have a good stay. The location is very good and all main attractions in the area are near by. The parking cam be tricky when you arrive but you soon work it out where everyone should park. I would recommend to bring your own pillows as the one in cottage are too flat. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is very modern & great. Thank you for amazing stay. We would come back & I would highly recommend.

Very clean comfortable and perfect location for discovering Northumberland.

We were welcomed with a pack including maltesers and tea and coffee.

It was a lovely treat after a long journey. The place was beautifully clean and had everything we needed.

Great location with 10 minute drive to North East Coast & 20 minutes away from Holy Island.

We had a lovely stay in The Old Stables.

Although it’s a small property, it’s perfect for two people and in our case a small dog. When we arrived it was clean and very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The owners have renovated it so beautifully. Belford is lovely and near so many gorgeous dog-friendly places. We found the pubs in Belford ok but its definitely worth a drive to Alnwick which has the most amazing dog-friendly restaurants/pubs. If you don’t want to drive elsewhere, Sunny Hills in Belford is absolutely amazing and does the yummiest cakes!

Excellent little property, very clean and smart.

Would benefit from one more easy chair and some outside space but this did not detract from a wonderful stay.

Lovely accommodation for two with everything we needed

External appearance belies a very convenient and comfortable cottage for two.

Beautifully presented with plenty of living/cooking/eating space. Bed's a bit smaller than we're used to, but very comfy. Beware of cold water tap blasting into the basin - you could get wet! Belford's an attractive and convenient location with all the facilities we needed.

. clean, equipped with everything you need and everything working. No outlook but very quiet area and good base.

The property was as described, plus a dishwasher (not listed?

) which was a most welcome surprise. Very clean, well supplied and maintained. The property was lovely and warm on arrival. Internet was excellent for a small village! Belford is a great village and would recommend the Black Swan Pub just round the corner. Overall we had a great stay.

Would’ve been nice if the radiators had been on when we arrived at 4pm.

the pace was absolutely freezing. We had to work out how to turn the heaters on and it didn’t get warm before we went to bed. So hope the hosts take note. With only one small two seater settee it is difficult for two to relax on. Another seat would have been nice. Apart from this, lovely and clean and everything else we needed in a good location.

The bathroom washbasin is too small.

The cabinet above is in the way when brushing teeth. The tap is very stiff and water splashed easily over me. I hit my head on the bathroom cabinet. The kitchen units are badly designed - no handles on the doors, and the corner doors open the wrong way round. The work surfaces are badly laid out. Otherwise a comfortable cottage, nicely located within the village.

Just the right size for two. Well presented and very well equipped. Extremely comfortable. Good location for touring the Northumberland coast with buses on the doorstep. Highly recommend.

Cottage was lovely, really clean and very well equipped.

Only problem we had was nowhere in Belford was serving any food apart from the fish and chip shop which was closed on the first two days of our stay so had to travel out to eat. Would return to the area but only if food services improved.

The lack of windows on the lounge area and bedroom made THE OLD STABLES very warm and stuffy during hotter days.

The property was clean and had everything we needed.we only stayed for 7 nights, if we had been staying longer somewhere to hang washing would have been handy. We had a washing machine but no clothes line to dry them.Parking near the property was difficult some days as no reserved parking. On 3 of our 7 nights we had to park way out of sight and walk back.

Fabulous property well presented could not paise to highly.

We did not realise when we made the booking that there was no garden, though bearing in mind the prevailing high wind I doubt if we would have used it apart from letting the dog out last thing at night.

It is the lack of a garden that reduces our opinion of the facilities. In other respects the cottage was excellent.

very nice well outfitted cottage, in a really nice quiet village just off A1 everything you need for your stay was supplied.

we had a really relaxing stay and will recommend this cottage, only downside is it is behand a pub, great for a quick walk for a drink but was quite noisy when deliveries arrived usually first thing in morning.

Absolutely spotless, like nobody has ever stayed there before!! Would of loved better pillows and a bigger sofa but that's down to personal preference. Would love to come back and stay here!!
