“Our 7th visit to 6 Mill Wharf - we love it here - there's always something to see from the window overlooking the port, river & sea.”

The seal in the harbour now has competition for fish from a family of cormorants! Elaine & Alan think of everything to make this apartment feel like home, if it wasn't a 340 mile drive for us we would visit more often. We are already looking forward to our 8th visit in 2025!

“Wonderful week!”

The apartment is such a lovely place to stay in and to explore from. Very interesting watching the comings and goings in the harbour and restful looking out to sea, a bonus to this very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Places worth a visit on the coast are St Abbs, North Berwick, Bamburgh and Holy Island, plus many others and lots of great coastal path and long beach walks. Not forgetting of course the lovely historic walled town of Berwick itself. Plenty of information leaflets and the OS maps and binoculars a thoughtful addition. Enclosed parking another bonus. The owners Elaine and Alan very communicative and friendly. Thanks so much and I’d love to stay again.

“Very clean and comfortable apartment.”

interesting views from the apartment of the working harbour. If you are lucky you may see a bulk carrier loading or unloading or a timber being transported. up to 200 swans swim around the harbour and estuary. a great base to see Northumberland and South East Scotland.

“Couldn’t work the downstairs front door from inside the flat, pressed the button on the phone system but the door wouldn’t open, maybe us but just took the key if going to the bins, but wouldn’t say it bothered us.”

“Absolutely fantastic apartment perfectly situated to all that Berwick has to offer.”

The apartment was spotless and everything was of a high quality. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was far too comfortable! It was really interesting watching the comings and goings in the harbour/dock and we even spotted seals one evening. Lots to do in Berwick and the only day we went out in the car was to Lindisfarne which is well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend and would return if we were ever in the area again.

“A beautifully presented apartment only a few minutes away from Berwick up Tweed and only about half an hour away from lots of fantastic beaches and historical attractions.”

The apartment was scrupulously clean and very comfortable. Everything you could wish for was provided in the kitchen, with a very generous welcome pack supplied by the owners. We could have sat and watched the view into the harbour with all the swans and seals all day. We will be back!!

“Very clean and spacious holiday let.”

Lovely view over the harbour and sea and very handy for accessing Spittal beach and Berwick, as well as the local ASDA. There were some welcome treats awaiting our arrival which were much appreciated. The hosts contacted us over the week to ensure we had no problems. We arrived by train and found our base a good point for travel, by bus, boat and train. There was a lot of printed tourist information and timetables in the apartment which helped. Highly recommended.

Sea view. Excellent communications with the owners. The only downside was the noise from the HGV trucks using the port opposite, particularly late in the evening and early morning.

“Very comfortable apartment, with all you need, a real home from home.”

Plenty of household sundries to keep you going during your stay. Welcome tray was lovely, perfect for a coffee while you unpack! Communication with and from the owner exemplary, Elaine & Alan responded quickly and were very helpful. Location was fabulous, looking out over the dock and only a short walk to everywhere. “6 Mill Wharf is an excellent place to stay for visitors wanting to experience the lovely historic town of Berwick 0n Tweed, to explore the delights of surrounding coast and to visit the attractions around and about Edinburgh.”

The apartment is as good as they come; being modern, comfortable well equipped and most importantly well insulated and warm for out of season visitors. The owners have done everything possible to enable guests to enjoy their stay providing excellent welcome treats, OS maps, guides and information booklets; they are easily contactable should you need information or help but otherwise will be unintrusive. Mill Wharf has stunning views of the dock area and across the Tweed to the historic town, harbour and the open sea beyond The apartment is ideally placed for a short walk across the old stone bridge into Berwick centre or along the Tweed to the train station. Local shops and a supermarket are within easy walking distance from the apartment. Safe allocated car parking is within the gated courtyard and has the added bonus of being under cover.

“Lovely, well looked after apartment in a good location.”

From the sofa the view is over the docks, the Tweed to the pier and beyond. The dock was busy while we were there, but the apartment was quiet. Range of supermarkets and takeaways within a few minutes walk. There is a choice of a private parking bay, which could be tight for a larger car, but there was plenty of space on the road if you wanted to to park there. Good coastal walks from the door into Berwick heading North, or Spittal to the South.

“Mill Wharf apartment was a fantastic base to stay at for the north east & Scotland.”

Everything you could possibly need was on hand. Elaine & Alan have provided all the comforts of home. The close access to the town & train station, (a walk of approx 15 minutes) meant all the surrounding area was in easy reach, Edinburgh only 55mins on the train. Lindisfarne a must, tides permitting, Banburgh Castle another must see. A secure parking space is another big plus, as we parked up on Sunday, & didn’t use it again until Friday. An enjoyable stay in Berwick-upon-Tweed at a great apartment, would highly recommend. Steve & Jill

I made use of the binoculars after spotting a couple of seals thought I was the next David Attenborough . “This apartment was spot on.”

Quality fixtures and fittings and oh so comfortable. Really spoiled for the week enjoying the view of the harbour and working dock, reading a good book, or stretched out on the amazingly comfortable reclining sofa watching a film on the smart tv. Great cooking facilities too. Outside was a treat, too, with a sun bathed Berwick full of so much history. The ramparts and walls are amazing and so easy to get to from the flat by crossing the Old Bridge. Our car was cosseted in its car port in the securely gated courtyard but we spoiled it’s rest by making some trips south to Alnwick and north to St. Abbs. So much more to do in the area and we will certainly return to the idyll of 6 Mill Wharf. Thank you Elaine and Alan for providing such a wonderful apartment which we have no hesitation in recommending.

“This was a wonderful apartment, it was furnished to a very high standard throughout, with the hosts even offering the choice of duvet tog in advance.”

Even though it was a one bedroom apartment it felt really spacious with the large open plan sitting/kitchen dinner feeling large, open and light with a wow view of Berwick. The welcome pack and fresh flowers were just the icing on the cake! Great location, 10 minute walk to Bridge street with lots of restaurants, and 5 minutes from a great breakfast cafe. Also 20 minutes walk to the train station for a direct train to Edinburgh or Newcastle if you fancy a bigger day trip.

“Superb 2nd floor apartment in Tweedmouth overlooking the working dock.”

The apartment was extremely comfortable and well equipped with good quality furnishings. The views from the apartment overlooking the town of Berwick, the dock, the river and the sea are wonderful, especially at sunrise. We spent many a happy hour watching boats being loaded and unloaded and also the starlings murmurating each evening over the town. A ten minute walk over the old bridge brings you into the fascinating town where you can walk the ramparts and explore the riverside with its wealth of bird life. The coast path also runs in both directions from the town providing wonderful walking. The owners Elaine and Alan were attentive and regularly checked with us that everything was OK. Right on the harbour, yet you can’t hear any of the activity from the incoming boats whilst in the bedroom. It was spotless, easy to access any supermarkets & a 10 minute walk from the beach! The owners of this property were nothing but gracious, and kept in contact before, during and after my stay. I didn’t want to leave, it felt like home very quickly. “The apartment was stunning with fantastic views over the harbour, Berwick and out to sea.”

It was obvious the care and attention to detail that the owners had spent on furniture and lighting.. Bed was extremely comfy and everything you would ever need in the kitchen area. Elaine and Alan, owners sent us detailed information on access to the apartment and car parking, we had telephoned numbers if we needed to contact them. During our stay it snowed and we received email asking if we were ok and where the extra blankets were. We didn't need them. A lovely welcome pack and fresh flowers gave a lovely touch. Such was out delight with this apartment we booked a further week in November before we left. Can't wait to return.

The apartment is modern and very comfortable and cosy. The views over the harbour and Berwick are lovely. Berwick is well worth spending time in, walking around the Georgian streets and the intact defences. The architecture is interesting. It is a great centre for touring the coast and inland hills. The local Chinese take-away was excellent.

It has views of the harbour and Berwick is only a five minute walk, across the bridge.Berwick has an interesting history with much to see. The owners are attentive and responsive with vast knowledge of the area. Local shops can be easily accessed and the property is walking distance to the main attractions of the town. Good views of the harbour, lighthouse and swans; we appreciated the lift to help with heavier items and the owners went out of their way by providing binoculars, a range of books and fresh flowers. “We really loved this holiday apartment.”

The location is great and we appreciated the binoculars to get a better look at the wildlife in the harbour from the lounge - hundreds of swans and a seal (missed the dolphins unfortunately). The kitchen was well equipped, though a mixing bowl and jug would have helped with the preparation of our holiday pancakes! We didn’t attempt the car park space, there was plenty of space on the road outside. The owners were really helpful, popping over with an extra blanket, and we enjoyed the welcome goodies. We enjoyed walking round the area - the walls/ramparts of Berwick and the beaches of Berwick and Spittal. If you have chance to get St Abbs Head, it’s so beautiful.

“Well maintained, comfortable apartment with everything that we needed provided for us.”

The view over the harbour is fascinating with both the working dock and the masses of swans that come in and out regularly and the odd visit of the seals. It's an easy walk over the bridge into Berwick for a selection of pubs and restaurants. We would totally recommend Atelier wine bar serving charcuterie and cheeses (enough for a main meal) and Mavi Turkish restaurant, both in Bridge St just over the bridge. The parking space provided is a bit tight for modern cars but we never had a problem finding a space in the road just outside the apartment.

The apartment is only a ten minute walk from the town centre with restaurants/pubs close by. Parking space is tight (we have a Volvo tank!) so had to park on the road.

“The holiday flat was everything that was said about it and more.”

The view from the sitting room window was spectacular- when we arrived there were about a hundred swans swimming in and out of the harbour. There was also a seal playing in the water. There was everything you could want in the flat and the walk into the centre took about fifteen minutes. I would definitely recommend 6 Mill Wharf.

“We found the apartment to be warm, welcoming and beautifully presented with quality decoration and accessories.”

We found it so relaxing sitting on the comfy sofa and taking in the view from the front window which provided a fascinating mix with the foreground of the working quay on the River Tweed, and the historic walled town of Berwick in the near distance. The location of the apartment was perfectly placed to access the town over the historic bridge, or walk to the beautiful Spittal and Cheswick beaches. We wish we could have stayed longer. The communication with the property owners was excellent with all additional information we needed to access the property being provided by text. They also checked up on us during the week to make sure we were OK. We would highly recommend this property.

Berwick is a true gem , lovely. Mill Wharf is a wonderful stay , the apartment is perfectly placed to walk into Berwick and for all routes in and around. The accommodation is modern , comfortable and relaxing with a nice view onto the harbour, the Tweed and the Town. Parking is in a secure gated courtyard - another bonus. Anyone thinking it's a long way to drive - think again - the pace of life is slower and driving is (almost) a pleasure.

“Lovely apartment.”

Well equipped and perfectly clean on arrival. Great communication from the owners. The Welcome Pack (wine, jam, biscuits, milk) was a nice touch. It's on the south side of the river opposite a working Dock so some traffic noise but no more than you would expect. A 10 minute stroll at a very leisurely pace gets you to the "bright lights" of Bridge Street which has some nice bars and restaurants. 10 minutes in the opposite direction and you're on Spittal beach.

“This is a really lovely apartment which had everything I needed and more.”

The view over the river was a real bonus - it was so relaxing to watch the scene at different times of the day. I don't drive, but the location was not too far to walk from the station. For anyone visiting with a car, there is secure allocated parking. The welcome tray left by the owners, including a bottle of wine, was much appreciated. I have never booked self-catering accommodation before but now feel that I would prefer this to hotel/guest house accommodation for future UK holidays. If I return to Berwick, I will certainly look to see if this apartment is available.

“6 Mill Wharf.”

What a lovely place to spend your holiday. It had a lovely view out over Berwick Harbour and beyond, we were told that we might see a seal and we did virtually every day it would pop it's head out the water. The apartment had everything you could wish for, I really can't think of anything that was missing from home. Unfortunately Elaine and Alan weren't allowed to meet and greet us, or leave us a complimentary hamper, but they did leave us a lovely bottle of wine and some chocolates. We did get to meet them though, because due to my stupidity, I lost the apartment keys. I had to ring them and ask for replacement keys, all very embarrassing, but quickly resolved by Elaine and Alan driving out to rescue us with a spare set. I can happily recommend this holiday accommodation. Thank you Elaine and Alan. Bob and Carol Hutchison.

Watched seals,swans, cormorant,ducks and also redshank (when tide out). Walked to lighthouse and saw dolphins breaching and also eider duck. Visited Scotland....St Abbs and Eyemouth. Also Bamburgh. Walked Berwick town walls and from Spittal to Cocklawburn on coastal path. Brilliant holiday, great weather ....Never needed coat all week, wow. Thank you very much to Elaine and Alan for wine and chocolates, on arrival and helpful e mails and instructions. Would highly recommend Mill Wharf. Hope very much to visit again. So much to see and do....Also nice to just sit on sofa, watching the wildlife and boats.

We were provided with everything we could possibly need and the "Welcome Pack" was a proverbial basket of goodies. Spotlessly clean and well situated for getting out and about with plenty to watch from the two storey window when we were not out. Wildlife in and around the harbour as the tide came in and out, boats loading and unloading in the docks, sunrise if we were up early enough. A thoroughly enjoyable short break and batteries fully charged!

“This was our second visit and we loved every minute of it.”

The apartment is perfect for us & the view out towards the harbour, river & estuary is fantastic. It's so relaxing watching the visiting harbour seals & the 100 or so mute swans. The tide rises & falls by at least 30 feet each day so there's always something to look at on the water with Elaine's binoculars. Within a mile of the apartment is Spittal with it's lovely long promenade, beach & spit that almost reaches Berwick lighthouse at low tide. It's a great place to walk, paddle or if you are brave, swim in the sea! Berwick town is great too, a half mile walk over the old bridge brings you to the start of the town walls & there's a great cafe by the river there too. Also you must take a boat trip from Berwick, you will definitely see seals & gannets & you might be lucky enough to see dolphins.We hope to return again next year to explore more of Northumberland's beautiful towns & beaches !

” A lovely apartment in a quiet area, ideally located for visiting Berwick which is only a short walk away over the old bridge. It was good to meet the owners, Alan and Elaine, on arrival who were very helpful in explaining everything about about the apartment, access and car parking. There was also a nice welcome pack provided. We enjoyed walks around the old town walls and along Spittal Promenade. We also visited the town's Barracks Museum where we saw the military history exhibits and various artefacts. We would recommend the Sunday Lunch at the Kings Arms and also pizza at Pizzaiolo. All in all a great relaxing week away.

The owners were very helpful indeed, and left a lovely welcome pack. Everything was exactly as shown here. How marvellous to find a place with sharp knives ! The view over the harbour was fab, and changed all the time. There is a TV but we never even turned it on the whole time we were there. Asda is less than a 5 minute walk and there are also take aways nearby (we only tried the fish & chip shop opposite Asda which was nice), and there's a fish shop just a short walk on the road towards Spittal, from where we bought some delicious crabs :-) Berwick itself is only a short walk over the bridge (5 mins for us), where we spent a fair bit of time. We also did some running up and down the coastal path which was lovely. When we return for another spell in Berwick, we shall defiantly check this place for availability first. We loved it.

The view from the this 2nd floor apartment window is outstanding. You've got the harbour directly in front, then the River Tweed beyond and then the pier, the lighthouse and the sea beyond that. It was fascinating watching the tides ebb & flow, the hundreds of mute swans that regularly visited & the occasional glimpse of the harbour seal. There are three beaches within an easy walk & the delights of Berwick just 10 minutes over the old bridge.Took our car & intended lots of driving around Northumbria but ended up using it on only one day - you can get everywhere you want on foot or by bus or train. Our highlight was "walking the walls" around Berwick, don't forget to stop for an ice cream at "The Loovre", a little hut that used to be a W.C - best ice cream in town!

The apartment was wonderfully presented, very clean and comfortable. The owners Elaine and Alan were very welcoming and were happy to help if needed. Just a few minutes walk in one direction over the bridge and you are in Berwick, and a few minutes walk in the other direction and you are walking along the coast. We were lucky enough to have lots to sightings of seals from the apartment, even watching one enjoy a salmon supper. On our walk past the lifeboat station we saw a dolphin a few feet away and then a pod of dolphins around the lighthouse, the icing on the cake!

Stroll the circular walk atop the town's Elizabethan walls, and capture the spectacular views across the River Tweed estuary and Berwick's three bridges, including the famous Royal Border Bridge. Brush up on your history by visiting the local museums, enjoy sun-filled days at the beach and be inspired by the exhibitions in the town's superb galleries. The nearby town of Duns offers an award-winning butchers and a quality delicatessen, as well as pubs and restaurants, whilst the Jim Clark Museum and the Jim Clark Rally draw racing enthusiasts from all over the world. Duns Castle is well worth a visit, a romantic castle in a beautiful, natural setting, with well-marked woodland and lakeside walks through the estate.
Venture on a short trip up to Eyemouth to feed the resident harbour seals and enjoy the award-winning fish and chips, or take a boat trip for some coastal exploration. This is a great base for exploring the beautiful Scottish Border region together with the picturesque coast and countryside of Northumberland.
